Chapter 105 LET’S JUST HAVE COFFEE

Chapter 105 LET’S JUST HAVE COFFEE
Kennedie

Looking over my shoulder was a feeling that I was not used to, and now that I finally experienced it, it was a feeling that I fucking despised.

Who on earth do I call? Who do I even turn to? Was I well and truly alone?

And that was how for the millionth time within the shortest amount of time ever, I was crying again.

There was a knock on my door and I froze.

“Who is it?” I called out shakily, almost passing out

“A package or Miss Kennedie”

My body was able to relax when I saw that I recognized the voice of one of the hotel staff before I went to open the door.

She handed me a thick envelope “this came for you” she said and I accepted it, “thank you”

I opened it with shaky hands, expecting anything but that I was looking at.

My hands thumbed the documents delicately. Desmond had actually transferred the ownership of the Peterson Grand hotel back to my name again.

Tears filled my eyes, I could not take care of my dad’s hotel before, but now it was mine again and I would never lose it.

But that was not all of it, there was something else.

A small envelope caught my eye… my name written on it with his elegant handwriting. The same one I was always jealous of.

I open it and a card falls on my lap… a black master card.

My throat got tight… what more did he have to say? The hotel was mine again, the last thing that was connecting the both of us so why. Was he still doing this?

There was a small letter that was still in the envelope, and even though a huge part of me wanted to throw it all away without even giving it a second thought, I could still not manage to ignore the small part of me that urged me to check…. To see if he was in any danger.

I unfold it slowly almost crying again as I read his handwriting;

My Princess,

I won’t pretend this fixes anything. It doesn’t. I hurt you, whether I meant to or not.

And I think for the rest of my life I would forever be haunted by what an asshole I am… that you shed so many tears because of me.

I don’t deserve you or your forgiveness, but you deserve everything, and I will give you my protection whether you want it or not.

You may never love me again Kennedie but I will always fucking love you… there I said it, not the ideal confession but my heart is true whether you believe me or not.

You are no longer safe here and so I want you to hide.

I will fix everything for you.

Love,

Desmond.

My hands are shaking by the time I finish.

I had always wanted him to say that he loved me back the way that I did him and if this was a few days ago I would have been over the moon.

But now, what the fuck was I supposed to do with that?

Desmond was like a hurricane the type that managed to upset everything in sight.

I looked down at the card again.

Desmond was right I needed to lay low, especially now that I knew that Andrew was the fucking stalker. He would never leave me alone and so I needed to be far away until I could call the police.

When I was stable again, I would pay Desmond back.

I put on a large hoodie and tried to make myself as invisible as possible, blend through the crowd.

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and I jumped slightly out of fear.

I took it a deep breath, it was just Marvin.

I considered not picking it up for a minute, but I changed my mind last minute.

Marvin was my best friend…I would not throw away all of our friendship just because of something like that. I would just hear him out.

I answered the phone.

“Hi” I said

“Kennedie?” His voice sounded painful like he could not believe that I was actually talking to him. “Please. We need to talk.”

There was silence between us.

“I shouldn’t have yelled,” he continues quickly. “I crossed a line... fuck I am so stupid.  I will never do such a thing again Kennedie. Please, I… I just need to apologize in person.”

My chest was tight.

I fiddled with my nails “I am not sure about this, Marvin.”

“Please,” he says again, his voice was softer now. “I hate how we left things. It can be just coffee in a public place. You can leave anytime if I make you feel uncomfortable”

I heaved a sigh “Okay,” I hear myself say. “Coffee.”

“Meet me at our Café in thirty minutes” I said.

“Yes, I’ll be there… thank you” he said.

I nodded “your welcome”

“I promise you will not regret it.”

I sat down nervous, my eyes trained on the door, I was waiting for him to walk in at any moment.

I twiddled with my fingers…. I did not know whether ordering a drink before him was bad manners.

I watched as people walked by, just on with their day without a clue of the storm that was brewing in my mind.

This is ridiculous, I told myself. It’s just Marvin.

I just could not understand that lingering bad feeling that was deep in my mind. I was probably just paranoid about how everything that has been happening in my life lately.

I pressed that feeling down, everything was ok.

The bell chimed.

Marvin walked in, and there was this new air around him.

He no longer seemed timid, there was this newfound aura around him.

The moment our eyes met, his eyes turned bright and his and smile spread gingerly on his face. He walked toward me, hands tucked casually into his pockets.

“You came,” he said, stopping in front of the table.

I gave a small smile.

“Yeah”
