Chapter 197 200
Chapter 197 200
“Just because we didn’t find anything doesn’t mean there’s nothing there.”
“That’s between you and your men,” I reply. “I held up my end of the bargain.”
He grunts with displeasure. “You gave us shit, and you’re expecting a thank you?”
I lean in a little and my eyes lock on his. “Okay then, how about this?” I offer. “When the Polish descended on us, when they were beating your men to a pulp and killing the ones who fought back, who saved your asses?”
Jacobsen’s jaw twitches erratically, but he doesn’t rush to give me an answer.
“When a Polish soldier was standing over your body, ready to end your life, who stepped in and protected you?”
He’s turned an unflattering shade of purple. I have to do my best not to laugh.
“Oh, that’s right. It was my men who saved yours. It was me who saved you,” I remind him. “I could easily have taken all you fuckers down and blamed it on Kazimierz and his men. But I didn’t. Is that not worth something?”
“It’s the reason you’ll be in the clear three months from now,” Jacobsen replies grudgingly.
“You might be glad for our alliance one day, Agent.”
“This is not an alliance,” he snaps. “There can be no alliance with a crook like you. With a mob like yours.”
“It’s not a mob,” I say to him, eyes sparkling with laughter. “We’re simply a Family.”
He shakes his head in disgust and gets to his feet.
“The Polish threat hasn’t been completely extinguished,” he points out when he’s halfway to the door.
“No, it hasn’t,” I agree.
“There are still many who are loyal to Kazimierz. Men who wish to regroup under a new leader.”
“I’m aware of the threat.”
“You and your so-called ‘Family’ are not completely out of the woods yet.”
I smile. “Thank you for the warning, Agent Jacobsen,” I tell him. “But from now on, always assume that no matter where you are, I’m three steps ahead.”
I laugh as he slams the door on me and disappears.
Our biweekly visits will no doubt be fun for all involved.
When he’s gone, I get up myself and walk over to my newly stocked bar. Adriano made sure that all my favorite whiskeys are have been arranged neatly on the top shelf.
I’m reaching for the Johnny Walker Black when the door opens.
“Couldn’t even wait until the good detective cleared the building to start boozing, huh?” Adriano asks with amusement.
“I don’t know about ‘good,’” I reply. “‘Pain in my ass’ might land closer to the truth.”
“Pah! We can handle that grumpy bastard,” Adriano dismisses.
I abandon the whiskey I’d been eyeing and turn to face Adriano.
I feel my heartbeat race up slightly, but I make sure my expression and my body language doesn’t betray me.
“Is she here?”
“Just arrived,” he confirms. “Just went up to her room to change. She doesn’t know you’re here. If you’re ready, I’ll send her in.”
He eyes me carefully.
I don’t trust my voice, so I just nod.
Adriano slips out. A few seconds later, the door opens again.
And Charlotte steps in.
God, she’s an angel.
I remember thinking something similar the first time I’d laid eyes on her. When she’d been little more than an unwelcome irritation.
That vision—the first moment we met—is seared in my brain like a tattoo.
She was dressed like a waitress. Tight, cheap polyester. Frightened eyes—but full of fire nonetheless.
Now, she’s wearing a short white dress with thin straps that puts her sharp collarbones and long legs on full display. Her dark hair falls loose around her shoulders.
And those shimmering blue eyes…
The fear may be gone from them.
But the fire has only grown hotter.
Her jaw jerks up towards me defiantly.
“You think just because you’re the big bad don, you can just command me in here whenever the fuck you want?”
I have to suppress my smile.
But there’s absolutely nothing I can do to suppress the way my cock stands at attention so fast that it’s almost painful.
“That’s exactly what I think,” I say, eyeing her up and down with authority.
I move forward. She takes a step back.
“They say you’re dangerous,” she comments teasingly. “They say you’re fresh out of jail.”
“All true.”
“They say you killed a man,” she continues.
“He deserved it. That’s what happens when you cross me.”
She narrows her eyes at me. But I can see the playfulness behind the fierce stare.
“Is that so?” she asks. “What will you do to me if I cross you?”
My cock twitches desperately in my pants.
“I’ll just have to bend you over,” I tell her as I reach forward to grab her hips and slam her body into mine. “And fuck the fight right out of you.”
Her mouth curves up into the barest hint of a smile. “Prove it.”
I smash my mouth down on hers and hear the welcome gasp as her lips part instantly underneath mine. I push her back against the closed door and hitch her legs up around my waist.
She locks on tight as her hands wrap around my neck, pulling me into her and deepening the kiss.
It’s more of a tongue fuck at this point. But after six long, miserable weeks without her touch, I’m fucking ready to devour her whole.
“Fuck,” she breathes. “Lucio, I’m so wet for you.”
My hands rush down to my pants, desperate to unbuckle them, desperate to fuck her like she deserves to be fucked.
She moans into my ear. “I can’t wait, Lucio… Just fuck me. I’ve wanted you so bad…”
My cock springs free. I hike up her dress and pull her panties aside.
She clings to me as I push into her. One hard thrust that makes her cry out and arch her neck.
She wasn’t fucking kidding. She’s soaking wet and I glide into her easily. There’s no finesse in my movement right now. No gentleness or slow build.
It’s all fire and passion and desire.
I fuck her with a fury that’s been building for six endless weeks. I slam into her, giving her what she’s begging for.
She hits the door hard, each thrust sending a shooting vibration up and down the thick wood.
Charlotte takes it all and begs for more.
I squeeze her ass, thrusting in deeper and deeper until I feel her body tense around me. Her pussy tightens, choking my cock as my release bursts inside her.
She comes in almost the exact same moment, with my name on her lips.
We sag into each other. Both breathing hard. Both slick with each other’s sweat.
But glowing. Glowing so fucking bright.
Before we can even start to recover, I hear the sound of smallish footsteps.
And then a tentative knocking on the door we’ve just been fucking against.
“Charlotte, are you in there?” Evie’s voice calls out. “What’s all that noise?”
“Shit!” Charlotte cries, putting her hands on my chest and pushing me off her.
Quickly, she hikes up her panties and smooths down the hem of her dress.
“Stop smiling like an idiot,” she shoots at me. “Pass me a tissue. Quickly!”
Still grinning, I grab a tissue and hand it to her.
“Zip up,” she hisses at me before raising her voice and turning to the door. “Sorry, princess. The door’s jammed. I was just trying to get out.”
“Uncle Adriano!” Evie shouts. “Charlotte’s stuck in there.”
I hear a low chuckle from the other side as Adriano comes to investigate. “Yeah, kiddo, the door’s stuck. That’s definitely what we were hearing a moment ago.”
“Adriano…” Charlotte warns.
“How did it get stuck, Charlotte?” Adriano asks teasingly. “Did something bang into it?”
“He’s a pain in the ass,” she murmurs under her breath.
I smile. “No arguments there.”
“Are you two decent?”
“Haven’t been since the day I was born,” I fire back.
Charlotte rolls her eyes at me before turning and opening the door.
She crouches down and quickly claps a hand over Evie’s eyes. “Hey, sweetness,” she says brightly. “I’ve got a little surprise for you.”
She peels her palm away and steps aside to reveal me.
My daughter’s eyes go wide with shock for a moment.
