Chapter 111 Trouble in paradise

Chapter 111 Trouble in paradise

\[Charlotte's POV\]

I didn't see Levi till the training was over. Now, it was clear to me that he was avoiding me. I told myself that I wouldn't sulk on the way home but I did.

‘Are you okay?’ Alex asked, looking at my face.

'Yeah,' I give him a thumbs up. 'Why'd you ask?’

‘'Nothing.’ he said, turning away.

Anna and Alex went their separate ways and it was just Jacob and I.

As we walked down the street, he kept stealing glances at me and when I would look, he would pretend as though he was staring.

I played the dumb card, feigned ignorance till it got too much. I caught him this time.

‘What is it, Jacob?’ I asked and he shook his head.

‘I should be the one asking you. What's going on with you and Levi? You're both acting like ghosts around each other.’ Jacob extends his hand and takes my bag.

‘'I guess.’ I refuse to look at him this time.

The wind tugged at his hair, ruffling his curls the Levi's hair bangs does. My heart does a thing where it flips and I close my eyes to chase the thought off my head. That was when I almost tripped if not for Jacob who caught me just in time.

‘Are you okay?’ he asked.

I stared deep into his brown eyes, saying nothing. He looks so much like Levi. I try not to do anything crazy and clear my throat.

He lets go off me and I grab my bag.

'Thanks.’ I say briskly and walked, no, run to my house without looking back.

Up in my room, Sophie tells me all about how her day went. She and George had gone sightseeing with Dad and Johnny.

'Johnny didn't pull a prank on any of you?’ I pinched my eyelids at her.

'Nah. It was amazing. New York is huge, man. Summer here is bae.’ Sophie slaps my arm and I winced. I forget how strong she can get.

Now that I look at her dressing, she did dress for the summer. She was wearing a white sleeveless vest over blue shorts. I bet she stole them from Wild Card. Her tattoos are exposed and she doesn't mind. It's not like anyone here would hassle her for it. If we were in London, the entire street would stare literal holes into her.

Georgie pinched my right cheek. ‘You missed a lot.’

I give a nervous laugh and hope they don't notice my sour mood and thankfully, they didn't. I give a fake yawn and tell them I want to go to bed and they both left the room for me.

After a long shower, my body begins to ache - aftermath of trying to shove a human weighing 450 pounds. I trudged to my bed and collapse on it, without bothering to bury myself in the covers.

\[Levi's POV\]

I throw my stuff on my bed and sit on it. I tell myself not to look out the window. I mean, I want to but I can't. Not after everything I did. Charlotte must hate me right now. I'd hate me right now. In the end, I fought a lost battle to my conscience. I ended up looking out the open window. Of course, her curtains were drawn.

‘Shit.’ I fall on my back on the bed and cross my hand over my face.

'Yo. Dinner's ready.’ I hear Ada ask from the door.

'I'm not hungry.’ I say. My language for “leave me be.” She understands and holds open the door, walking in.

I sit up to look at her with a frown. 'I thought I said I'm not hungry.’

Ada ignored me and pulled up a bean bag. ‘Do I look like I don't understand English? I heard you.’

I get off my bed and hold open the door. ‘Since you understand English perfectly, please leave.’

Ada shook her head stubbornly. ‘I’m not going anywhere.’

'Jesus Christ.' I slam the door shut and walk to my bed. I lie on my face without another word to her.

‘What’s going on with you?’ she asked.

‘Great. Jacob sent you. Tell him this mission of yours is impossible.’ I said into my pillow.

Ada's laugh resounded in the room and I'm forced to look at her.

'Have you gone nuts?’ I give her a stern look and she smiled.

'Now you're acting like I did when I ran from home last year.’ She left the bean bag to come sit next to me.

‘'Nope. You left home because of some boy. I'm still in the house I paid for.’ I roll my eyes and take off my shoes.

Ada blow a raspberry then she tilted her head. 'Enough about me. Let's talk about you. Did you fight with your girlfriend?’

I get off the bed and walk to the bathroom to brush my teeth. 'It's none of your business.’

'Ever since you started dating this girl, all you do is fight. What's up with that?’ her question made me slam my brush on the sink.

'What the heck do you want!’ I screamed at her.

'I want you to love me!’ Ada blurted out.

'Tch! You're insane!’ I turned to leave but she grabbed the hem of my shirt.

'I'm not. It might not make sense to me but I love you, Levi.' She buried her face in my back.

'Dude, you're my cousin and I don't have feelings for you. I won't. Ever.' I turn to look at her. She was crying now.

Ada wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. 'It’s fine.’

'And I didn't fight with Charlotte. I don't know who told you that.’ I tell her.

'Suit yourself. I won't show up here again.’ Ada walked to the door.

'Ada.' I called her back and she looked at me.

'Have a nice trip to wherever it is you're going.’ I said with a smile.

‘'You’re an asshole!’ She slammed the door heavily and mom starts yelling.

\[Charlotte’s POV\]

In my sleep, I kept hearing Ckay's Felony in my dreams. I turn over on my side and found my phone buzzing beside me. It's an unknown number calling. Ugh! It must be one of Johnny's exes. Yeah, those girls know how to buzz my line alot. It's annoying how they calling my number and not his.

'Johnny.' I call weakly.

He doesn't respond. How will he? No one would hear me with this low voice.

'Johnny, someone's calling again.’ I sit up on my bed and take the phone.

Johnny will be here any second to take this stupid call. I think it's high time I changed my password or even my phone. But if I do, Johnny, the Witcher, will find a way to always unlock it.

I wait for him to throw open my door like he does out of habit but he isn't here yet. I look at the phone ringing for the third time and decide to answer it.

'I'm sorry. Johnny's not here,’ I rub my eyelids with my free hand and look at my BTS wallclock. 'It's 2 am in the morning. Can you call him his number tomorrow?’

'Umm. I would've if I knew who this Johnny.' The deep voice startle me awake. Wait, Alex!

'Alex!’ I say aloud and cup my hand over my mouth. Sophie was asleep. Quietly, I snuck out of the room to the living room. Thank God, no one was there.

'Alex, is that really you?’ I ask to be sure.

'Yeah. It's not a prank call.’ he said.

Then I hear a ping. It pull my phone from my ears. Alex sent me a picture. I nearly had a nosebleed just by looking at it. He took a picture in front of the bathroom mirror and he wasn't wearing any shirt.

I return to the call. 'Point made.’

He laughed. 'Thanks, I guess.’

I take a seat on the couch. 'So…

'Well, sorry, for calling this late and for not giving you my number. I just wanted to check up on you.’ Alex apologised and my eyes nearly watered.

‘It’s fine. Thank you.’ I lay down on the couch.

'You’re welcome,’ He said, ‘Well, goodnight.’

I chuckled. ‘It’s 2am. Good morning.’

'Oh yeah.’ he chuckled. 'See ya.’

With that, the line went dead.

That was thoughtful of him. But in one way, that was as creepy as hell. Who calls to say hi by 2am in the morning? Men do the craziest thing. Speaking of crazy things, I decided to do some of my own. I snuck out of the room and you know where.

\[Jacob’s POV\]

After chatting with Anna, I decide to got to bed but not without checking on Levi. He was asleep when I walked into his room. On his bed, he cuddled his sheet. Wait. I looked closer. It was a hoodie. A black one. I'd never seen it before. Thinking about it, I haven't seen the wolf hoodie I got him for our birthday last year. I tried to take the hoodie off his arms and he turned away.

'Woah. This one must be precious to you huh.’ I add with a smile.

I heard a tap on the window and a whisper. 'Levi, are you there?’

I froze. Who was that?

The whisper came again. 'Levi.'

That English accent. It's Charlotte.

I went to the window and dragged the curtains aside. 'You really know how to make a dramatic entrance.’

She rolled her eyes. 'Wrong twin.’

'Come on.’ I dragged her up and into the room.

The first thing she sees is Levi's sleeping face. A smile play on her lips and she inched towards the bed.

'He fell asleep earlier than usual.’ I shut the window and turned to her.

'I noticed.’ she said quietly. Then she ran her hand through his hair and Levi smiled too.

He even likes her in his sleep.

'He likes it.’ Charlotte turns to me, still smiling.

‘Sure he does.’ I nod then she turned away from me.

‘Before I forget, happy birthday.’ Charlotte walks to me and whips out a little white box.

‘For me?’ I take it surprised.

‘Yeah,’ She nods and stops me when I try to open it, ‘Don’t open it till daybreak.’

'Sure. Thanks, Char.' I give her a hug.

She pulled away and sit on the bed. 'I think I'll stay here.’

'Good night.’ I decide to give her privacy.

\[Author's POV\]

Charlotte ran he hand in Levi's hair. His smile tugged at her heart strings and she felt butterflies.

'Happy birthday, baby.’ she leaned to kiss him on the lips when she noticed the item he hugged to himself.

Taking a closer, she realised it was her hoodie. She recalled taking any hoodie and running away that night. This must be hers. Levi still loved her.

She laid next to him, watching him sleep peacefully.

Her hand went up to cup his cheek. 'I don't want you to get mad at me anymore, Levi.'

His eyes fluttered open. He blinked twice to see if it was a dream. He put his hand over hers on his face, them he brought it to his lips.

'You’re here.’ He smiled and leaned forward to kiss her.
