CHAPTER 4
JESS
"What the fuck...." I yelled at the stranger, who almost yanked my arm out of its socket, but my words died in my throat
Luke was the one pinning me to the door, and he was mad. Really mad. His nostrils were flaring, and he was grinding his teeth. His sharp blue eyes sliced right through me
I WAS TRAPPED
"What the fuck were you thinking, Jessica? What the hell are you doing here?" His voice was rough and deep and vibrated straight through me
I couldn't find the words to say anything. Tears sprang to my eyes, and I wanted to cry. Luke's grip softened, and he let out a sigh. I sniffed and wiped the tears off my face
"You need to leave before Josh sees you," He said softer this time
"What were you thinking, Jessica?" Luke asked again, but I didn't have an answer for him because what the fuck was I thinking?
I don't know why; maybe it was all the champagne, or I knew this night was over, but I thought, why the hell not? Just tell him
"Tt's just one night, OK. I just need this one night. I won't go to another party the entire senior year. Just give me tonight. I'll be gone by midnight." I bit my lip and rubbed the tender spot where he gripped my arm
Luke turned around as if he were seeing me for the first time, his eyes going wide and his jaw a little slack. I looked down to see what made him react that way, but there was nothing on me— Just me in the black dress
"What the fuck are you wearing?" Luke fumed, and somehow, he seemed even angrier than before - if that was even possible
"Where are your clothes, Jessica?" He stepped forward, looking down at me, taking in every part of my body. I could feel his eyes graze over my skin, and something other than anger flickered across his face for a second
"Jessica, where are your clothes?" Luke repeated, this time in a raspy, deep voice. He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose
"Look. I needed to convince a guy to sleep with me tonight. That's it. I just need to get the whole virginity thing out of the way before senior year
So I'm going to go and do just that, and then I'll leave." I blurted out because the way his voice was making my body respond was unsettling
Luke's voice was doing things to me it should not be doing, and my body was responding in ways it shouldn't. I felt self-conscious, and I needed to make a run for it
I hate him - I reminded myself
Luke placed his arms on either side of my head and leaned in close enough that I could feel his breath. "What did you just say?" He growled, and I felt my heart starting to pound in my chest
"You heard me. Now let me go, and we can go back to acting like we don't exist in each other's
worlds." I kept my voice even and let them sink in for a second
Silence
The longest silence in history
Finally, Luke leaned in even closer and brought his lips to my ear
"Jessica, there is no world in which you do not exist..." Luke hovered there, in the crook of my neck, inhaling me
It took me a minute to digest what he had just said. Maybe I'm drunk and hallucinating. I opened and closed my mouth like a fish - not sure what to say
"Why tonight?" Luke pressed, and I felt shy suddenly, heat creeping into my cheeks
"Why not? I just want it over and done with." I blurted out, and he shook his head
"How much did you drink?"
I shrugged, feeling naked underneath his gaze
"A little..." I offered a half-truth, squirming against the door. I crossed my legs, trying to control the heat burning between my thighs
Luke, this close, his scent was intoxicating. I wanted to lean in and savor it. I wanted to put my hands on his hard chest and feel the ripples of muscles underneath
I shouldn't be feeling any of this
I should hate him
Now, I just hate myself for wanting him
I closed my eyes, trying to straighten my thoughts, when I felt him lift my chin. Opening
my eyes, I stared right into his deep ones
"T don't get it. Wait for the right guy. Wait for someone who loves you." Luke said a little stiffly as if he were forcing the words out
I shook my head out of his grip. He didn't understand - my mind was made up. I was doing this no matter what he said
"You can't convince me otherwise, Luke. I'm losing my virginity senior year. End of story
Stop acting like you fucking care." The liquid courage finally kicked in, and I watched him narrow his eyes at me. I arched a brow in response and stepped forward - challenging him, daring him to say something else
BIG MISTAKE
I stepped right into Luke's chest, and his hands
automatically came to my waist, holding me in place. He sucked in a breath and let it go slowly
"This fucking dress Jessica." He flattened his palm, and it glided over my hips and then to my back and lower still..
Something like recognition crossed his face
"You're not wearing any underwear, are you?" Luke accused me, and I smirked, shaking my head from left to right
I tried to move out of his grip, but when I placed my palms on his chest to push away - his warmth seeped into me, and I wanted to pull him closer. Luke's hands gripped my ass and pulled me to him. I gasped when I felt the rock- hard length press against my stomach
Was that his..
Did I do that to him?
His face dipped to my neck. I could feel his hot breath tickle my skin
"What if I tell you that I will do it?"
