Chapter 80
The path of redemption was never going to be easy for him, and Zain was aware of that reality. Might Ayzel never forgive him. But he was ready to wait for it, till his last breath.
He just wanted her and the children in front of him laughing, playing, and enjoying their lives. He can bear the hatred of the whole world but Farheen. The love for him in her eyes was a new reason for him to live.
But the real trouble was for Ayzel. Her daughter was ignoring her. All the staff were annoying her with respecting mode. In the night her status changes from "Maid" to "Madam", and "Maam". No one was letting him touch even a single spoon.
"Just stop calling me Ma'am. I am Ayzel for you. I am no one to Mr. Zain skinder." She yelled at them.
"But Maam, sir will fire us. If we don't respect you." The servant apologetically said that.
"Arrrrggghhhhh!" she pulled her hair. Her blood was boiling and she wanted to grill Zain for this madness.
She thought to ignore them and focus only on her daughter, Who was avoiding her in artificial anger.
"Fairy, Fairy" After a long day, she saw her. Ayzel ran after her.
"Fairy, Fairy. Please listen to me once." She caught her by the arm. "Fairy, mama is very sorry. Please don't do this to mama." She cried.
"Don't talk to me!" Farheen did not intend to hurt Ayzel. But in oblivion, the toy in her other hand hit Ayzel on the side of her head, scratching the side of her eye.
"Ahh" Ayzel covered her eye. Farheen's face went pale. She became a statue at her place. She hurt her mother. Blood was coming out of her wound.
"Ayzel!" Luckily Burhan was there. He climbed up the stairs speedily. "Oh my God, Ayzel it's bad. Let's go to the hospital."
"Why did you do that your mother!" Burhan scolded Farheen.
"Burhan! Don't talk to my daughter like that!" even in this state, Ayzel was caring for her daughter. She was still covering her left eye.
Burhan took Ayzel to the hospital.
In the evening when Zain returned, he found Farheen, Arham, and Burhan extraordinarily silent. Burhan and Arham had quite angry expressions on their faces. While Farheen had expressions of guilt and sadness on her face. They were having dinner.
Zain looked here and there, Farheen was sitting on his left side and the other two boys were on his right side. Were they having a silent war?
"Why my daughter is upset? Hmm! Papa's fairy?" Zain cupped Fraheen's chin.
"Papa I have hurt Mama!" She sobbed and then started shedding tears from her little eyes. Then she narrated the full event.
Burhan was giving her murderous looks.
What a competition!
"Don't worry, Papa ki jaan (Papa's life). You did not do it on purpose. Mama loves you so much. We will go to her and say sorry. She will forgive you in a matter of a second." Zain made her mood pleasant.
"It's only my mama who forgives everyone easily. But others never forget her mistake." Arham threw a silent slap on the faces of Zain and Burhan. After saying this he got down and went to his mother.
Zain and Burhan were wishing to be swallowed by the earth. They had done the same with Ayzel. And now they were expecting her to forgive them without punishing them.
How ironic.
Zain prepared a food tray for Ayzel with flowers on behalf of Farheen. Arham was already there when this father-daughter duo reached Ayzel's room.
"Mama, look what I have made for you!" Farheen sat beside Ayzel on the bed.
"Oh, my fairy. You made it for me!" Ayzel smiled at her. Her face was banged on the site of the wound.
And like this, they began talking, like nothing happened before.
"Mama, I love you so much. I promise I will never talk bad with you again. I won't go anywhere. I am sorry Mama for my bad behavior. I have hurt you" Farheen cupped Ayzel's face with her tiny hands.
"No, my fairy, no. You have not hurt me. My heart and life. Mama will die for you. I am sorry. I hurt you. I promise I will never separate you from me. Never again." Ayzel embraced her children in a tight grip. She inhaled and kissed them. Her whole universe.
Zain was looking at the scene from a distance. He could be part of it as well if he did not commit the crimes that brought them to this point in life.
Point of no return.
But he was still hoping for a miracle to make them a family again.
Farheen's being nice to Ayzel, did not mean that she was giving up on Zain.
Now it was irritating Ayzel. She felt that Farheen was playing the role of little cupid.
"Mama, look what Papa has brought for us."
"Mama Papa this"
"Mama papa that"
Ayzel's ears were burning with the word Papa. Like a parrot, Farheen was speaking about her father. Like Zain was her new god. And Zain was taking advantage of this. Both together were annoying poor Ayzel. She was not fond of this duo.
Ayzel was folding the clothes, and sitting on the sofa.
Farheen was coloring some pictures. She we sitting on the bed. At the very moment, Zain interrupted them.
Killing the peaceful mood of Ayzel.
"What my princess is doing!" he jumped on the bed. was it his room? NO!
Ayel's face turned red in anger.
"Papa, I have made a drawing of our happy family. This is you, and this is Mama. Arham is there and here it is me!" she explained her drawing to him.
"This is so wonderful. I will frame this picture and hang it in my room. What do you say, princess?" He forwarded a hand and Farheen clapped on it.
"Farheen you have made your mama's nose very pretty in the picture. Otherwise, her nose is very big." Zain laughed and Farheen along with him.
She was on his lap.
Ayzel stood up in anger in an abrupt manner, holding clothes. It was a wrong move. She moved towards the door but stopped in her tracks. Her focus was losing. The abrupt standing shook her head in a wrong way. Her injury from the bullet shot had not healed yet, internally. The doctor had already advised her to be careful.
Zain was staring at her. "Ayzel!" he called her.
Clothes fell from her hands. She stumbled on her feet.
"AYZEL!" Zain removed Farheem from his lap and rushed to Ayzel. Before she could fall, Zain held her in his arms. She was trembling like a thin leaf. Her eyes were closed.
"Ayzel, Ayzel, open your eyes. Say something, for god's sake!" he was patting her cheeks. He was out of his breath as well.
He put her on the bed and shouted to call the doctor. Children were frightened too seeing their mother's condition.
Soon the doctor arrived. He was checking on Ayzel. There was nothing to worry about, the doctor told them. But the need for extra care was required.
Children sat on the left and right side of their mother.
"Mama, you got sick because of me." Farheen was sniffling with tears. "I won't play with Papa. I won't even talk to him. But Mama please don't get sick." She pleaded with her mother.
A child's words hurt Zain's soul with the intensity of a thousand knives. At this moment he realized he couldn't be her father. His efforts won't matter. He can't be a part of them. He had to give up on it.
Ayzel saw the tear falling from his eye. And for an unknown reason, it did something to Ayzel's heart.
Zain was about to exit the room when Ayzel's words made him stop.
"Fairy, my life. I did not get sick because of you and your Papa. You can play with him, talk with him, and ask for anything. He is your friend and you are his." She smiled at the end.
Zain turned in shock.
Was he hallucinating?
His are, were they fine?
"Mama, are you telling the truth?" Farheen was also doubting her mother.
Ayzel nodded softly.
Farheen gasped in happiness.
She ran to Zain and jumped in his arms.
It silenced the demons hell-bent on destroying them. But what was the future holding for them?
How many mountains of tests were left in their lives?
Was it a new beginning or did something still have to come in their lives? Ruining or joining them forever?
