Chapter 211 Farewell Bruce
Chapter 211 Farewell Bruce
Kristen's POV
The somber procession begins as three men shouldered the weight of Bruce's coffin.
The air is heavy with grief as they make their way to the graveside.
Everyone present are clad in depressing black as the funeral unfoldes at the graveside.
The crowd draw close, seeking solace in each other's silent presence. Tears welled in their eyes, and quiet sobs hit the air as they said their last goodbyes Bruce.
As the ceremony unfolds, Calhoun is invited to step forward and give a speech. The pack members turn their attention to him, seeking words that might provide comfort in the face of profound loss.
Calhoun, standing with strength despite the heaviness in his heart, begins to speak.
"Today, we gather not just to mourn the passing of Bruce, but to celebrate the life he lived among us. He was more than a beta; he was a friend, a companion, a brother. His presence enriched our lives, and his memory will forever linger in the heart of our pack."
The crowd listens in hushed silence, absorbing the words of their Alpha.
"Bruce faced each day with courage and
determination. He stood by us through thick and thin, and his loyalty was unwavering. In his memory, let us strive to embody the same strength and unity that made him an integral part of our pack."
As Calhoun speak, a sense of unity and shared grief enveloped the gathering. His words resonates with each pack member, a balm for the wounds left by Bruce's untimely departure.
I can feel my eyes blurring with tears. How can his words be so beautiful and hurtful at the same time?
"Let us remember Bruce not only in the pain of his loss but also in the joy he brought to our lives. We will carry his spirit with us, ensuring that his legacy lives on in the bonds we share as a pack. May he find eternal peace in the embrace of the moon, our eternal guardian."
The words hang in the air, a tribute to a life ended too soon. The mourners, though heartbroken, fing solace in the shared remembrance of a dear friend and pack member.
Calhoun, gripping my hand, faced the pack with a determined gaze.
"We mourn, but we endure. Bruce's spirit lives on in each of us. We stand united."
A murmur of agreement ripples through the crowd, a shared acknowledgment of the pain we bear together.
But I can feel Sapphire's bitterness lingering, as she throws a swift glance in my way, and her eyes drill holes into Calhoun's hand on my
"Why does Kristen get it all? Her perfect life, her perfect husband." This is supposed to be a whisper, but it's loud enough for me to hear.
"Sapphire, grief blinds us. Kristen hurts too." Maddy
who at her side, is quick to defend me, and I am grateful for this.
But Sapphire's resentment doesn't wear out.
"She has it all, and it makes me despise her because this baby inside of me will grow up without a father."
However, Calhoun isn't done speaking.
"We'll find who did this. Justice will be served."
As Bruce's coffin is being lowered into the ground, the whole scene becomes even mournful and
heartwenching.
I can't believe Bruce is just gone.
He never had the chance to see his child.
He had so much ahead of him. He could have found
happiness with Sapphire because they were so in love with each other. First time the two of them are
finding true love.
His parents are standing close, their grief heavy,
especially in the eyes of his mother.
"No, my son! Why did you leave us?" Bruce's mother
wails out loud.
lost
My heart breaks at the sight of her clinging to the side of the grave, tears streaming down her in a depth of sorrow only a mother who lost her only
son could know. Bruce's father stand beside her, attempting to console her, his own eyes heavy with
sorrow.
"He's at peace now, Margaret. We'll get through this together." Bruce's father assures his mother.
Surrounding pack members and friends expresses their sympathy, sharing in the weight of the family's
loss.
"I can't imagine the pain they're going through."
"Losing a child is unbearable." Someone else adds.
As the dirt hit the casket, sealing the final farewell,
the mourners approachs Bruce's parents, offering words of solace.
"I'm so sorry for your loss. Bruce was a good man."
"He was my everything." Bruce's mother says
tearfully.
The pack embraces the grieving parents, a collective
show of support in the face of immeasurable loss.
Sapphire is able to control herself, after crying for 3 days straight. And although I want to be by her side as a friend, I can't, keeping my distance is the best alternative right now, else she might say even more hurtful things, since I am the person she picked to hate on.
Calhoun's POV
As the funeral continues, I am still drawn in the
ceremony when I feel an unsettling stiffness on one side of my body.
At first, I brush it off, attributing it to momentary discomfort, assuming it will fade away in seconds. However, the stiffness persistes, intensifying until my hand vibrates, and my head shakes involuntarily.
Kristen, sensing something amiss, notices my unusual movements.
"Calhoun, are you okay?" She looks at me with
concern.
Trying to conceal my concern, I force a reassuring
smile.
"I'm fine, just a little tired." I am in denial right now, trying to wave this on.
My hands, however, betray me, shaking uncontrollably.
And I notice worry etching across Kristen's face.
"You don't look fine. What's happening?" She blinks and near my side.
"It's nothing, really. Just need a moment," I give this
vague response.
My attempt to downplay the situation fails as the shaking intensified.
"Calhoun, this isn't normal. Let's get you some help."
Kristen, now holding our infant, grows more worried.
Because I am reluctant to disrupt the funeral proceedings, I try to evade concern.
"It's probably just stress. I'll be alright. Take care of Aiden for a moment," I say.
Despite my assurance, I can feel my conditioning worsening. The shaking still persists, and I have no choice but to excuse myself from the funeral ground,
desperate to understand what the heck in happening
to me.
As I distance himself from the ceremony, I raise my
hand to my face, only to see it shaking beyond my
control. And half of my body is starting to feel paralyzed.
This is something that hasn't happened before.
Suddenly, my eyes meets Nana Joyce's, and she sends me a knowing look like she already predict such thing to happen to me.
