Chapter 205 When The Bride Goes Missing
Chapter 205 When The Bride Goes Missing
It's finally here.
Bruce and Sapphire's wedding day.
And the whole place is full with excitement and anticipation.
Calhoun took charge of everything, ensuring everything detail is in place for his best friend and my best friend's wedding day, and making sure they won't suffer any form of lack.
"Wow, look at how beautiful everything is!" One servant exclaims.
"Calhoun really knows how to throw a party." This from another one.
"I heard Sapphire picked the most enchanting flowers for the decorations." And another.
It will be bad to be jealous right now, because the wedding is grand while Calhoun and I's weren't. We married secretly because of too much problems surrounding us. Still, I am glad Sapphire gets to have this, because she deserves it and more.
The air is buzzing with a sense of celebration, and laughter echoes as friends and pack members get to witness the union of two souls.
Calhoun's dual role as both best friend and Alpha adds a unique touch to the day.
As the day progresses, the venue came alive with the hustle and bustle of preparations. Decorations adorned every corner, and the scent of fresh flowers wafted through the air. Guests chatted animatedly, sharing excitement and looking forward to the joining of Bruce and Sapphore.
Amidst the joyful chaos, a sudden hush falls over women attending to the bride, as the realization dawns that Sapphire was nowhere to be found. Panic set in, and worried whispers filled the air.
"Has anyone seen the bride?"
"We can't find her anywhere!"
"What if something happened to her?"
Upon blinking, I take a rough gulp.
This cannot be happening. She was full of excitement. half an hour ago.
Is she second guessing herself or developing cold feet?
"We should go tell Bruce that Sapphire's missing! He needs to know!" Someone immediately suggestion.
I stepped forward, intercepting the concerned pack member.
And then I decide it's time I step in.
"Hold on," I hold out a hand to gain silence.
"Let's not jump to conclusions. We need to find Sapphire before we cause unnecessary worry. She might just need a moment," I defend my best friend even in her and be.
"But the ceremony is about to start!" Maddy persists, panicking. Her face is completely red.
"I'll go look for her," I assure them with a small
smile, although I am as frightened as they are but I don't show it. "In the meantime, let's not create a scene. Calhoun is handling things, and we don't want to disrupt the wedding."
As I navigated through the venue, the sense of worry lingers. Sapphire's absence cast a shadow over the celebratory atmosphere. The search intensified, with girls scanning every nook and cranny.
This is bad. Sapphire is known never to run away from anything. She confronts her problems come what may. Except she's softening and showing her
vulnerable side because of the baby and her affection
towards Bruce.
Why on earth would she run away when the wedding
is just about to get started.
"Where are you?" I keep muttering to myself as I
search everywhere, making sure I don't get seen by Calhoun because I don't want to tell him the situation
at hand.
This wedding has to go on no matter what.
Finally, in a quiet corner, I find Sapphire. Her eyes betrayed a mix of fear and uncertainty as she takes a drag out of her cigarette. Still half dressed for the wedding.
"There you are," I say as relief cascades through me, "
everyone is looking for you. What exactly happened. Why are you all alone here?"
And she shudders upon hearing my voice.
This makes her cough because she was halfway dragging her cigarette when I stepped in.
As Sapphire coughs, my hand finds her back and strokes, until thr cough dies down.
"Are you okay?" I stare at her with concern.
"I can't do this. I can't go through with the wedding. Bruce deserves better," Sapphire's voice trembles as she blurts this out.
"Sapphire, talk to me," worried for her sake, I urge
her to open up.
"I'm so sorry," she says again, making my heart clench at her words.
Indeed she's reflecting on her past, how wild she used
to be and the nasty things she's done. She doesn't
need to tell me before I know. I'm aware because she's someone I can read like an open book. "Running away won't solve anything. Bruce chose
you because he loves you. Let him be the one to decide what's best for him."
Sapphire hesitates, grappling with her inner turmoil. " I don't want to ruin his life."
For a moment, I suppress a snort. Because Bruce himself is no saint. Sapphire, who painted Bruce bad
on the day she figured about the pregnancy, now see
him under a different light because she's fallen so deeply in love with him
"Don't make decisions out of fear. Face your fears,
and let Bruce be there for you. Trust in the love you share. Let him decide," I say at last, while stroking her back.
"So many things can go wrong in the marriage, what
if after the baby he realizes he doesn't want to be with
me? And it's because of the baby he thinks he's inlove with me?
"You know that's not true, Sapphire. Stop letting the negativite thoughts get the best of you.
"What if.." she tries to persist when I cut her short.
"Do away with the "What if's, my friend. Today is
your day and Bruce is crazy over you," my voice is
firm.
This brings a smile on her face and she stares at me with teary eyes.
"You've got this, Sapphire," I mirror her expression
except I am not in tears like her.
She nods.
"Let's go do this," she says at last, looking determined.
I haven't felt so relieved before.
"And please don't have the wrong impression about
me, I quit smoking already. Just hid to do this one because I was anxious," Sapphire explains. Nodding, I lead her out to the dressing room.
