Chapter 196 Not His But His
Let Me Go, Alpha Calhoun 196:
Kristen's POV
It's so strange walking around in an unknown place with a mask on, I can't take it off wither, because my torment will begin on a full volume, so I let Calhoun lead the way. Were here to find a cure for what I'm suffering after all.
To think we wouldn't have been let in if I hadn't gotten on the woman's good side. It was never my intention to speak up since I couldn't see anything or anyone. Calhoun is my eye after all.
And he hasn't even left my hand since, because he's scared I am going to fall and hurt myself, so, he's being extra careful with me. The walk is quite long. Aren't we suppose to use the car or something?
"Were here," Namala announces at last, and relief washes through me.
"This is where you live? I can sense a frown on
Calhoun's face even though I can't see him. His voice gives out that he's rather disappointed with what he's seeing. Is it that bad?
"Why? Yes. You have any problem with that?" I hear Namala question my husband with an air of confidence.
"Not at all, I wasn't expecting..." Calhoun is trying to explain himself when she cuts him short.
"Something so small?" she finishes for him.
And his silence proves that she's right.
"Take off your shoes and come in," Namala gives us this order.
Some seconds run by and I can tell Calhoun is doing as instructed after keeping an asleep Aiden aside, and then he comes to take mine off, before leading me into the house.
The entire place feels so hot and I am starting to perspire profusely, but I don't complain at all when Calhoun helps me to sit.
"I know why you're here," Namala goes straight to the point,
"You do?" Calhoun and I question at the same time, his voice a bit louder than mine.
"Yes, I knew right from the moment I set my eyes on you two," Namala responds.
"Then why did you act like that earlier?" Calhoun asks as he sits next to me.
"You don't expect me to go all easy on you from the first seeing," I can sense the mischief in her tone, something which makes me skeptical. Can she help me at all? Or she's just trying to play games with?
"You two are strangers after all, it doesn't matter if you two are Alpha and Luna of the Greyhound pack," She adds.
"You're right," it's me who responds this time, beating Calhoun to give Namala a reply because he can be temperamental at times.
"The spirit of the man whom you killed is still tied to you because you didn't reject him," When she ges straight to the point, I can feel my hear getting tight in my chests and my stomach forming knots.
"Does this explains why she keeps seeing him?" Calhoun questions, while I get lost in silence, trying
to process everything.
"Yes, he wants her to join him in death," Namala drops this bombshell, and a gasp erupts from me.
"Impossible!" Calhoun disagrees loudly.
"You killed a great man, Kristen. Theodore Fitzgerald could have been a much more powerful Alpha than Calhoun, he had a great destiny in front of him. A unique kind of wolf he was, so life wasn't fair on him. Took his father, left his sister blind. But you ended up cutting short his great future when you ripped his heart out," Namala directs this to me.
While I get silenced by shock for the second time.
"Are you trying you trying to imply that Kristen wasn't meant to be mine from the start?" Upset,
Calhoun lets go of my hand,
"You rejected her, remember?" The witch reminds him.
"But I marked her to be mine for the second time," Calhoun points out, and I can sense the frustration his voice.
"It meant nothing, Calhoun. You two were already in love, so you thought it worked," she continues.
And my heart sinks in my chest from this revelation.
This is the exact same thing Theodore told me when he was alive, I can't believe he was right the entire
time.
What the heck is going on?
"Theodore is Kristen's second chance mate, the gods made him so possessive over her," Namala breaks this, making the atmosphere full with tension
"Okay, you need to stop now," Calhoun barks, failing
to keep his temper in check because her revelations are starting to get under his nerves, "This isn't what we came here for, just get on with the solution to this madness," his voice is so rough, and I don't need to be told that he's glaring so hard at her.
"Why should I do that? You are here for the truth, isn't it?" Namala directs this to Calhoun, if she's afraid of him, she's not showing it.
Calhoun doesn't respond to this instead, but from the way he's breathing. I can tell he's way too furious. Am still to stunned to speak, I can't even ask Namala
to stop talking because of Calhoun. I want to know everything even though it won't settle well with me.
"Kristen stopped being yours the day you rejected her!" She shouts at the top her lungs.
And chills travel down my spine. I so wish I can take
this damn mask off.
"That's enough!" Calhoun snaps, and I can tell he's at his feet now, because he's not seated at my side
anymore.
However, Namala ignores him and continues talking.
"Have you ever wonder why things are always going
wrong for you two?"
"Why?" I inquire.
"Because you two aren't meant for each other," she
discloses quietly.
Biting down on my bottom lip, I hold my breath still
to keep my heart from doing dangerous backflips in my chest, because I wasn't prepared for this at all.
"No," Calhoun is quick to disagree.
"Yes," Namala presses on, irking him even more.
"But we still share the mate bond," I manage to let this out in a shaky voice, since my husband is suddenly silent for reasons best known to him, or
he's trying to keep his temper in check so as not to explode in front of the witch.
"No, you don't have that connection anymore, it's all
your feelings,"
"Goddammit," Calhoun hisses under his breath.
"Admit it, you felt more connected to Theodore
Fitzgerald when you first saw him?" Namala asks me.
And I don't know how to respond to this, scared I will hurt Calhoun with my answer. It's tough.
"I am waiting for your response, Kristen," Namala urges me.
"Yes, you're right. I did feel the mate bond," I agree at last, and hurriedly clench my jaw, readying myself for my husband's reaction.
"Dammit," I hear Calhoun curse in anger, "I can't
stay here and listen to more of this bullshit!" He
snarls.
'Calhoun, wait!" I call out to him, upon hoping he'll
try ro calm down so we can get to the end of this.
But I don't get any response from him.
Shit, he's so upset right now. Giving me the silent
treatment.
I so wish I can remove this freaking mask to tell him
nothing matters, even if the marking didn't work and we don't share the mate bond again.
If only the witch wasn't so blunt, none of this would
have happened. She could have asked Calhoun to excuse us before disclosing anything. And now, he's so pissed off from hearing he and I aren't mates anymore, and it's Theodore Fitzgerald who I share
the connection with, because Theodore was my second chance mate until I killed him.
Is Calhoun still here, or he's gone? Why isn't he saying anything? Although, I get that he's upset because he has every right to be, but his silence his killing me.
"He's gone," Namala voice out like she's been reading my thought, "but not to worry, he'll return when he finishes blowing of some steam." This doesn't sit well with me, but I don't have choice
either except to stay here until he comes back, since I can't take the damn mask off.
"My son," worry kicks through me because I haven't
heard any sound from him since we came here. Did Calhoun take him?
"Asleep and right next to you," The witch replies at
last.
