Chapter 162 He's Gone?
Kristen's POV
It's happening all over again.
Unclear vision, a migraine, stuck in my bed and also I notice someone moving around in the background.
I wipe my eyes to help subside the blurriness so I can see what's
happening in front of me.
And it's Doctor Melbourne.
"My Luna, thank God you're awake." Fear makes his voice shaky, and so does his body tremble.
"I thought you were going to die, and Alpha Calhoun will end up killing me," he adds.
"What happened?" I ask because I don't want to think the whole thing with Theodore was a dream.
"He brought you here by himself, all the servants were so afraid of him
when they saw his wolf. They backed away and let him in." Doctor
Melbourne informs me as he sits on the chair next to my bed.
"Theodore?" I ask.
"Yes, we thought he was going to kill you, but then he only wanted you to be fine," Doctor Melbourne sighs in relief.
I can't believe this occurrence took place while I was freaking unconscious. So much has happened already.
"The news will spread around in this mansion because everyone thought he Theodore was trying to kidnap you at first," Doctor Melbourne adds,
"And Calhoun?" I manage to let this out, fearing my husband already witnessed everything.
"Out with his men. Else something
terrible would have taken place
because Theodore is Calhoun's
prisoner." Doctor Melbourne says.
And relief floods through me, although
not completely.
"Where is Theodore?" I ask because I'm certain he can't return to his cell. He's already powerful enough to let himself stay locked in.
"He's gone," Doctor Melbourne quietly
replies.
"What do you mean he's gone?" Taking the sheet covers off me, I get out of bed. Because the news is too
shocking for me to stay put.
"He abandoned his sister, shifted, and
ran away. And it doesn't look like he's coming back because he broke out of his cell."
And I don't even know if I should feel relieved at this news.
Because I don't believe he's gone just like that. Last I can recall, he was begging me to run away with him, and now he's just gone? When I am yet to reject him and he, to accept my
rejection.
Indeed he's my mate
"You can't move about until you recuperate fully, my Luna. You have to stay bedridden for a few more days," Doctor Melbourne tells me this, with his face showing signs that he won't let me out of here even if I threaten to tear down these walls.
I can't respond to this because my mind is still troubled.
Because things cannot end like this.
"A second mate!?" Sapphire squeals to the extent that Aiden who's propped on her hip, flinches with wide eyes.
"Tell us it's an expensive joke, Kristen, "Maddy moves the pillows aside to sit beside me.
Because the whole Theodore was on
my chest, I narrated everything to my friends when they came to visit.
"I'm clueless on what to do because
we're still mated to each other. He refused to listen to me," I sigh and put my hand on my face.
"Is Calhoun truly your mate or you two
were just sexually attracted to each other, and then love came in?" Sapphire doesn't even mind that she's
carrying the same person's son, before making this utterance.
"Calhoun rejected me before, and then marked me to be his for the second
time," I make this known to them, something which they weren't aware of in the first place.
"Maybe that's where the lapse set in," Maddy adds thoughtfully.
"You think?" I ask because even though I am irked by her response, I can't be defensive right now. "Because he already rejected you and
you felt the pain of it," Maddy uselessly points out, and I just sigh for the second time.
"What if you try to find Theodore, have men arrest him, and drag him to the council hall for the rejection?" Sapphire suddenly brings this up.
Something that seemingly makes
sense.
"All this under Calhoun's nose?" Disagreeing, Maddy shakes her head
"I don't think that can happen, and besides I've seen Theodore's wolf
before. It's like a beast." Fright runs through me when I recall what happened earlier.
"How about opening up to Calhoun?
You two have come this far already," Maddy makes this suggestion as she puts her hand under her chin and
inclines her head forward to mine.
After digesting her words, I shake my head at her.
"No, I've told way too many lies."
"That's the thing about lying, once you start, it gets hard to stop," Sapphire
looks up at me from where she's rocking a seemingly noisy Aiden.
"But this is an issue of concern. If Calhoun is aware, he might join heads with you to fix things," Maddy puts
her hand on my shoulder, eager to have me accept her advice. But thinking of Calhoun finding out I
have a second mate doesn't settle well
with me. We've already been through a lot for me to bring this to his knowledge. He might think I'm not good enough for him. And then, the lies that I told.
"I want to handle this alone. It's not always that I should involve my husband. He has a lot to deal with." I make this known to my friends because I want the best for Calhoun
and I's relationship.
"Did Theodore really ask you to run
away with him?" Sapphire pops this question.
"I nod.
"And he's down to take Aiden as his
son?" She continues, her gaze dead serious.
"It's just stupid, isn't it?" I shake my head when I recall this.
"For goodness sake, why is it you all the time?" Maddy literally yells. "Me, how?" I am left stunned at her
outburst.
"First it was Ben Gregory and now it's Theodore Fitzgerald. Guys keep chasing after you even upon knowing you belong to another." She toys with
her hair and shoots me a jealous frown. "Maybe she's meant for three men and
not just one," Sapphire says with a stupid sick grin on her face, while still feeding Aiden his milk.
"Don't say that in front of my child..."
I snap at her because it's just wrong.
"I called you two here to help me with... "I barely finish before Maddy interrupts me.
"Theodore might be gone for good, believe the doctor," she ends this with
a shrug.
"Yep, he already left his sister here' cause she's under proper care," And Sapphire agrees with her.
