Chapter 154 Careless
Kristen's POV
"Why didn't you tell me you had a child from the very beginning,"
Theodore is walking out with his back so that the whole of his front will face
me.
"Was I obligated to? You kept following me around even when I told you off a couple of times," for a moment, I want to push this tugging matebond aside, as I look at the man in front of me. He's tall, almost as tall as Calhoun. And no, I am not comfortable with any man apart from Calhoun. Be him my second mate or not?
"You know, it's hard to just let you go like that," Theodore opens the door for me so I can exit the mall.
But I just ignore him and take the second door, because I don't want to give him the impression that I want him. Although there's a slight
attraction, it's hard not to appreciate his looks.
"It's my first time having a mate,' Theodore continues as he keeps following me.
11
"Good for you," I press the remote to unlock my car, and to my uttermost dismay, Theodore jumps in right after I do.
"You're crazy, get out right now," Upon staring at him, a chuckle leaves my mouth because he's been crossing way too many boundaries since he set eyes on me.
"You're a bit too young to have a baby, "He says more to himself than me.
Flinching, I back the wind glass
because Theodore is leaning forward and observing my face with regret.
And a snort leaves my nostrils.
"Who's the father?" He questions me quietly as if I betrayed him. His face. just an inch away from mine.
"For Goodness sake, I am frigging married." I refrain from screaming, just to flash him my wedding ring,
see?" I raise a brow.
And it's Theodore's time to snicker.
"Are you being serious right now? There's no ring on your finger." He points out.
Upon taking a quick look at my finger,
I swallow hard in embarrassment because he's right. I might have left my ring at home.
How could I ever forget?
"Whoever is the father has to let go of you, because we're inseparable," and with this, Theodore clenches his jaw.
There's a short pause until an incredulous laughter jumps from my throat.
What the fuck is wrong with him? Does he even know Calhoun? I doubt so.
"Are you kidding me? I won't even
hesitate to reject you," I growl after letting the laughter die down.
And Theodore shakes his head in
disagreement.
"You can't do that." He says.
"Try me," I grit out.
"Why did everyone keep addressing
you as Luna? Are you married to an
Alpha?" He immediately drops this, after dragging his head backward because he just sensed I am unsettled
with how close he is to me. And on the other hand, it feels so wrong, like I am betraying Calhoun.
"Answer me," Theodore presses on.
"Don't tell me you haven't heard about Calhoun before. He was my mate before we got married. Sorry to break
it to you, Theodore or whatever you call yourself, but my name is Kristen and I am Luna of the Greyhound pack."
"Fuck me," he exclaims with eyes raised in their sockets, "I thought it was a nickname."
As an interruption, there's a thunder
crack, notifying a heavy downpour is near. And when I stare out the windglass, there are no clouds, just the
plain, gloomy sky.
"Common sense should've made you know I am his wife, right from the moment they began calling me Luna,"
I end this with a smirk.
And Theodore rakes his hands through
his long hair, before blowing a low breath in disbelief.
"This is not happening, this is so not
happening," He keeps chanting to himself.
Realizing he's wasted so much of my time, I point at the car door. "Please get out, I don't have time for
this. My husband and mostly my son needs me."
"Did you just say you are Calhoun's mate?" Theodore has this look on his face as if he just stepped on a nail.
And I nod, "Yes, that's why I think this
whole mate thing between me and you isn't real."
But Theodore shakes his head at me.
"It's real and you know it. The look in your eyes shows how confused you are.
"I
Frustrated, I start driving the car because I can't remain here and listen
to all he has to say. It doesn't matter if he's my second mate, he's still a stranger to me. "Perhaps it's a magic trick or
something," I am taking a different route when a frustrated Theodore puts his hands on the steering wheel and takes another turn.
"Can you fucking stop!" I yell, fuming in anger. "You can't leave right now, we need to
talk." Because he's stronger than I am, he's controlling the wheel through his
hands that are on top of mine.
A monstrous behavior, it is. "Calhoun will kill you," I growl,
hating Theodore and then hating myself for being vulnerable at this point. The mate bond is indeed powerful, the connection is effective, just like it was when I first found out Calhoun was my mate. "Tell me why the moon goddess will
make us mates if he's good enough for you," Theodore is still driving, he
doesn't even let me take my hands underneath his.
"You must be insane...you hear me!?
Do you know how long Calhoun and I have been together? Challenges have threatened to tear us apart, yet, we are still together and nothing or no one can come in between."
"Change is constant," Theodore's voice is cold and laced with selfishness. And for a moment, fear hits me hard when a voice in my head
starts telling me he's going to kidnap me, just like Jack did.
"Just stop this car and get out!" My
bellow gets consumed by the rumble of thunder.
"It's beyond my control, my wolf
won't let me leave," He has this helpless look on his face.
We keep struggling, reverting the car
together as the rain starts pouring with force.
Until the car gets off the road and
heads into the woods without our permit. "Oh my god," I gasp in horror as I keep stepping on the brakes, but it's
futile because it isn't not functioning anymore.
"Just calm down, Kristen, I'll look for a way to fix this."
Theodore barely finishes before the car
slams into a huge three and everything goes blank.
It seems like forever when my ears start kicking in the faint sound of rain
drops, and the distant, throaty, and uncontrollable sobs of a man. My head feels like it was smashed
against a wall, and the pain is spreading through my whole body "Kristen, I am so sorry," the voice in the background pleads.
It takes me a second to realize that I
am not on the floor, but on top of someone's body, thighs rather and they're holding me as they weep.
My eyes lazily flick open, to a pair of gray, tearful ones.
I want anger to course through my veins, but it is impossible because I am confused, feeling nauseous, and hearing ringing in my ears. As well as
excessive fatigue. It's difficult to stay
up for long.
"Thank God you're awake, for a moment I thought I lost you," Theodore pleads. He's bringing his hand to touch my cheek but then he
stops upon knowing it won't like it.
"Calhoun, I need Calhoun," he's the
only person I can think about right
now.
"We're stuck," Theodore blurts out with regret.
"What do you mean we're stuck?" Because I am alarmed, I try to get off
his body but then the pain holds me back down, and I wince. "Don't try to move okay, you'll only
get yourself hurt," He breaks this to
me.
I tremble when I realize I am bleeding
from the side of my head, and the
blood is getting washed away by the drizzle.
"Where is this place?" I blink quickly
to stay awake.
"I don't know," he rasps out. "What do you mean you don't know?
It's all your fault," I yell even though it hurts.
"I'm sorry," Theodore looks at me with guilt.
"Don't fucking apologize! I need
Calhoun right now," just as I attempt to get up, I realized the pain isn't only unbearable, it also paralyzed my waist.
"Don't move, please, you're hurting
yourself,"
"Shut up!" "Yelling will cause you even more pain.
"I need to go to my husband, my child. They need me," the urge to burst into tears is overwhelming because it seems I have another stroke of bad
luck today. First, this mate thing and
now, I
am stuck in a bush where I can't
even
get up.
"Can you wait a little bit longer, I'll look for a way to get us out of here," Theodore assures me.
But it's already too late. My eyes are creasing in their sockets
and his voice is growing distant. "Kristen..." this time, he puts his cold hand on my cheek.
And the last thing I can register is Theodore telling me to stay awake, before I faint for the second time.
Sorry to interrupt your reading from
the chapter, but please read this.
Hi, firstly I'd like to address the issue
which has some of my loyal readers
complaining about dropping this book
because it isn't going the way they
predicted.
I am really sorry. But there are times
when a book doesn't go as you want, doesn't mean I'll leave the readers
heartbroken. For me, it's pointless to write a story where the two main leads
separate in the end.
But a book should be unpredictable at
times. I am the author, and I still have
great plans for this book. It's understandable if you're upset upon thinking there's a love triangle standing as a potential obstacle in the
way. But in the comment section, I repeatedly pointed out that it will
never happen.
Sometimes, it's the journey that matters and not just the destination. Again, I apologize if the book is getting
too much for you to handle, and it will
be sad to see you quit it, as I
understand some of the occurrences
are what you never signed up for. Trying to stop you will be desperation
on my part and giving you spoilers
ahead doesn't sit well with me, but I'll
respect your decision. You've followed
this book from the very beginning and
you're highly appreciated.
To the readers who will keep following
this book, thank you.
From now on, I won't reply to
comments or even read them, because
it's very important I continue this
book until the very end. I don't want a situation where I'll stop writing this
book because of the feedback from
unsatisfied readers.
On the other hand, it is important to
stand by my creative vision and not to get sidetracked by anything, as this
book is still ongoing. And it's also
important to protect my own creative
energy and wellbeing.
This is not a novella and I don't intend
to make it boring by dragging it out
with unnecessary scenes, or repeating
the same thing all over again.
As an author, it is impossible to please everyone and trying to do so will take a toll on my books.
Lastly, if you can be patient until the very end, then I can assure you that you won't regret it.
My apologies for including this note in the chapter, the space for the author's note couldn't contain it all.
