Chapter 124 Aiden
Kristen's POV
Three months later.
"It's a boy," the midwife lets this out in excitement, and she puts the crying child on top of my chest.
I spent two hours in labor and I have never been through so much distress in my entire life before. My respect grew for all the mothers out there.
Life cannot be understood until it grows inside of you.
It feels surreal that this child came out of me. He's so small and I am a bit afraid, until I put my hands on him, and then I feel the wide range of emotions seeping through me.
Immediately, I forget about all the pains I went through during labor. My heart is interwoven with joy right now. And I can feel tears sliding down my cheeks as I press a quick kiss to my son's head.
To think I was having inside of me while I went through a whole lot, with Jack Synder and then my mom.
Calhoun makes his way into the room, with fear written all over his face.
"Congratulations, Alpha Calhoun. It's a boy," the midwife smiles at
him.
And Calhoun blacks out for a second, before immediately recollecting himself and hurrying to my side.
I've never seen Calhoun look this way before.
He lowers himself to the floor and puts his hand on our son.
"It's a boy, Calhoun," I tell him, smiling through my tears.
And he's yet to utter a word. Just staring at his son in utter disbelief. And it makes me smile.
"Touch him," I urge Calhoun.
"I'm afraid I'll hurt him," he replies.
"Only if you don't handle him with care," I say and gulp down my
laughter because he is amusing right now.
Calhoun seems unsure of himself for a split second. He gulps and
raises a shaky hand to touch our son.
Calhoun strokes his back, before taking a second gulp.
"Take him, Calhoun," I say.
And he obeys by scooping our son into his arms.
"Look what we've made, Kristen," Calhoun stares at me with so much affection, as he holds our child.
Calhoun's POV
I have never felt so elated in my life before.
Holding a child that Kristen brought out into this world.
I've never felt this much masculine before. I am now a father,
something which I never expected to happen so soon.
When Natalie and I were planning our wedding, we talked about not having children for two years.
But when Kristen comes into the picture, having a child was something we could not stop, as she got pregnant along the way.
I can feel my body trembling as I stare at my son who's fallen fast asleep in my arms. His mouth is slightly apart and his chest is rising and falling.
I stare at his tiny feet and small arms. To think he'll grow up to be a man someday. To take after me and rule as Alpha of the Greyhound pack.
"You're so amazing," I tell Kristen, after putting the child back on her chest.
"You did great," I commend, loving every inch of her because I couldn't picture myself having a child with someone who isn't her. I am glad we're still together after all the obstacles that tried to separate us.
Kristen puts her hand on my cheek, and I kiss her open palm, before inclining my head downward to kiss her on the lips.
"I think you'll be a great father, Calhoun."
"It feels so good to be addressed as a father," The smile on my face is beyond my control at this point. Because my body cannot contain the joy in me.
"What should we call him?" Kristen asks, searching through my eyes.
"Aiden. I've had this name in my head for a long time now,"
Kristen pursues her lips as she looks at me, more like she's in deep thought or she's contemplating if the name isn't suitable enough for
our son.
"You don't like it?" I inquired, searching her eyes.
"Aiden doesn't sound bad at all," She says and I can feel relief
cascading through me.
The midwife comes in and takes Aiden away from us to wipe his body clean. Leaving just me and Kristen alone. And I can see Bruce following the midwife to keep watchful eyes on her. My beta is trying
to ensure the child is safe.
"He'll be Alpha Aiden in the least three decades from now," I say
when I return my gaze to Kristen.
And she chuckles.
"We still have a long way to go." She says softly.
"And more babies to still make," I tease, and Kristen bubbles with
giggles.
"Thank you so much for making me a father, Kristen. Words cannot express how excited I am right now,"
"You'll do great, Calhoun," Kristen assures me. Staring at me with so much admiration when I did nothing. When it was she who went through so much to bring our son into this world.
I press a quick kiss to her forehead before moving back to stare at her
face.
"I love you," I rasp out, meaning every word as I tuck her hair behind her ear.
"I love you, too," Kristen responds.
"Let's get married already, I've waited for so long. It's high time
you're made Luna of the Greyhound pack."
"It's still too early to talk about marriage," She tells me.
"We live together, it's best to get married this week," my voice is
firm.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" Kristen frowns a little at me.
"Because Ben Gregory is yet to pick himself a wife to make Luna. Who knows if he's waiting for you to deliver our child so he'll come
to kidnap you," I joke.
Kristen laughs at this and smacks her hand lightly against my chest.
"You know that's not happening," Kristen strokes my stubble while
she points this out.
"How sure are you?" I raise a brow.
"Because you'll protect me. You always have," Kristen points out and
I can feel my lips stretching into a smile.
"And I will, always," I say, meaning every word.
