Chapter 155

Serena’s POV.

My heart hammered against my ribs like a frantic drum as I witnessed the gruesome scene unfold before my eyes. The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood, and my stomach churned with a sickening mixture of fear and revulsion. Daphne, dear Daphne, was at the center of it all, her life hanging in the balance.

I couldn't erase the images of the horrifying ritual, every fiber of my being screaming for me to intervene, to put an end to the madness. But I was frozen, rooted to the spot by a paralyzing sense of horror.

Graham's urgent voice broke through the haze of terror, jolting me back to reality. He grabbed my arm, his touch a lifeline in the darkness closing in around me.

"We need to leave, Serena," he said, eyes wide with fear. "Someone's coming this way."

I nodded numbly, but my mind was consumed with worry for Daphne. Would we be able to save her from this nightmare? The thought gnawed at me, threatening to overwhelm me with despair.

With a trembling voice, I voiced my fears to Graham, my eyes pleading for reassurance amidst the chaos. His expression softened, a thoughtful look passing across his face as he met my gaze.

"We'll save her, Serena," he said. "We'll save them all. Just have faith in me."

His words were a lifeline in the darkness, a glimmer of hope amidst the despair. As we fled into the night, I clung to his promise like a beacon guiding us through the storm, praying that somehow, against all odds, we would emerge victorious.

Graham's grip tightened on my arm as he pulled me along, each step echoing the frantic rhythm of my heart. Fear coiled in the pit of my stomach, threatening to consume me whole. I had to do something, anything, to protect these people from the horrors we had just witnessed.

"Do you know any way to protect them?" I asked. I searched Graham's eyes for a glimmer of hope, a shred of reassurance that we could make a difference.

Graham's brow furrowed in concentration, his lips pressed into a thin line as he pondered my question. "I'm not sure," he admitted. "But I'll do everything in my power to try."

It wasn't the answer I had hoped for, but it was all we had. We couldn't afford to give up, not when innocent lives hung in the balance.

I glanced around, my gaze darting from face to face, searching for any sign of Eliana. "Where's Eliana?" I asked.

Graham's response was swift, his tone reassuring despite the chaos surrounding us. "Don't worry about her," he said. "She's resourceful. She'll find a way to stay safe, I'm sure of it."

I wanted to believe him, to trust that Eliana could fend for herself amidst the danger that lurked in the shadows. But as we pressed on into the night, uncertainty gnawed at my heart, a nagging fear that threatened to consume me whole. All I could do was cling to hope, to trust in Graham's promise that together, we would find a way to protect those who needed us most.

As we rushed through the shadowy corridors of the ancient castle, the weight of our mission pressing down on us like a suffocating blanket, I couldn't shake the gnawing worry for Eliana and the others left behind. Graham led the way, his steps purposeful but laden with tension, his hand firmly clasped around mine as if to anchor me in the midst of the chaos.

Suddenly, as we turned a corner, we stumbled upon Eliana, her figure illuminated by the flickering torchlight that lined the stone walls. Relief flooded through me at the sight of her, her presence a beacon of hope in the darkness that threatened to consume us.

"Eliana!" I exclaimed, rushing forward to envelop her in a tight embrace. "Thank the goddess you're safe."

Eliana returned my embrace with a weary smile, her eyes betraying the exhaustion that weighed heavily upon her. "I'm alright," she assured me. "But we need to find a way to stop this madness before it's too late."

Graham nodded in agreement. "We can't let them continue with their twisted rituals," he said. "We have to put an end to it, no matter the cost."

With a shared glance, we pressed on through the labyrinthine corridors of the castle, our footsteps echoing in the empty halls as we searched for a way to thwart the darkness that threatened to engulf us all. Though the path ahead was fraught with peril, I knew that as long as we stood united, there was hope for a brighter future. And so, hand in hand, we ventured forth into the heart of the storm, ready to face whatever trials lay ahead in our quest to save those we held dear.
