Chapter 76 Amelia Subdues Quentin with One Hand
Upon hearing this, Amelia finally understood why Rachel had taken an abrupt leave. She was gearing up for the upcoming piano competition at home.
So, it was all about this piano competition.
The classroom buzzed with chatter.
"An invite to compete? So Rachel's going to be in the competition next Monday? She might even get some one-on-one time with Mr. Stevens!"
"Yeah, she's a piano prodigy. No wonder she got an invite. Even if we've learned the piano, we can't hold a candle to her."
"And I heard from Kelly that if Rachel nabs first place, she could snag the special talent admission slot at Aurora College this year."
"Special talent admission? You mean that policy at Aurora College where exceptional talents get admitted with a hundred-point reduction?"
"Yep, I'm so jealous. A hundred points off practically guarantees entry. We don't get opportunities like that."
"We're all in the same boat. It's a national-level competition, a chance to shine on the world stage. In our entire Prestige High, only Rachel has this shot."
Just then, Amelia's phone buzzed.
She picked it up and saw a text from an unknown number.
[Hello Miss Martinez, I am one of the organizers of the 7th Celestria Piano Competition. After seeing your piano performance video online, I am pleased to extend an official invitation for you to participate in this year's competition.]
[Information about the competition's schedule, location, process, and other details, as well as the official invitation letter, can be found in the link below. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the basic information form in the link. Thank you very much.]
Amelia was taken aback by the message.
They saw her video online, but how did they get her phone number?
If this were just an ordinary piano competition, she wouldn't be interested. But from what she overheard, Osborne would be one of the judges.
Amelia knew Osborne had always wanted to hear her play live. If she participated, it would fulfill his long-standing wish.
So, she filled out the participant information and submitted it.
During class, Amelia napped.
The human courses were incredibly dull and boring to her. The problems the teachers painstakingly explained were as simple as basic arithmetic in her eyes.
Finally, when class was over, Amelia headed to the restroom, only to be blocked by Quentin as she stepped out.
Seeing Quentin, Amelia felt a strong urge to punch him but held back, not wanting to bully the weak.
Was this guy here to study or to guard the restroom?
Why was he always blocking people at the restroom door?
"I need to talk to you," Quentin stammered, his eyes nervously darting to Amelia's bandaged right hand.
"Go ahead," Amelia said, her face a mask of indifference.
Her cold demeanor was obvious, but Quentin didn't get angry this time.
A week ago, he couldn't have imagined that Amelia, who came from the countryside, would not only be beautiful and smart but also Royce's final and most important disciple.
He had initially thought Vaughn was out of his mind for insisting on his engagement to Amelia and had looked down on her.
But now, his thoughts had completely changed.
Although Amelia's background was lacking, her looks, intelligence, and talents were just barely good enough for him.
Especially after the embarrassing scene Rachel caused during yesterday's live stream, Quentin felt humiliated.
Although the online sentiment eventually shifted, he still felt like he’d been slapped in the face.
Quentin couldn’t shake the thought that if he were dating Amelia, he would have had a lot more clout yesterday and would definitely have been able to talk to Lila.
The more he thought about it, the more he felt he needed to mend his relationship with Amelia.
Even though he was currently with Rachel, he wanted to keep Amelia as a backup if things didn’t work out with Rachel.
"I wanted to apologize," Quentin said awkwardly, clearly not used to apologizing. "I pushed you without knowing the full story yesterday and caused you to get hurt."
Amelia acknowledged his apology and turned to leave.
But as soon as she turned around, Quentin unexpectedly grabbed her wrist.
"Wait, you're just going to leave? I haven’t finished talking!"
Amelia frowned and shook off Quentin’s hand. "You came to apologize, didn’t you? You’ve done that. What else do you want to say?"
"Don’t you have anything to say to me?" Quentin's eyes widened in disbelief.
Amelia’s tone grew colder. "I acknowledged your apology. What more do you want from me?"
"You..."
Quentin was left speechless.
In the entire school, so many girls dreamed of talking to him, yet here he was, taking the initiative to talk to Amelia, and she was so cold?
Was she deliberately playing hard to get to attract his attention?
Quentin was about to continue pestering when he heard a voice from not far away: "Quentin! Let go of my sister!"
Before Quentin could react, he was punched by Tobias, just like in Vaughn’s bedroom yesterday.
Yesterday, Quentin got punched on the right cheek, and today it was the left.
Well, at least now it's symmetrical.
In the next second, Amelia was pulled into Tobias’s arms, and he looked at her with concern. "Amelia, did Quentin do anything to you?"
"Tobias, are you crazy!"
Quentin, already fuming from yesterday’s punch, was now even angrier with another punch on the other side of his face.
Cursing, Quentin charged at Tobias, and the two started grappling.
Tobias was known for his domineering attitude at Prestige High School. He was handsome but had a terrible temper and would start a fight with anyone who annoyed him.
When it came to fighting, Tobias was far superior to Quentin.
Hearing the commotion, students gathered to watch.
They expected a fight between two people but instead saw Tobias single-handedly beating up Quentin.
Someone must have gone to inform Gilbert, as the portly man soon rushed over, shouting, "Stop, stop, stop! No more fighting!"
Gilbert looked at the two grappling and felt troubled. One was from the Williams family, and the other from the Martinez family. He couldn’t afford to offend either.
Seeing Gilbert arrive, Amelia had no choice but to intervene. "Brother, stop."
Tobias, worried about accidentally hurting Amelia, stopped his fist in mid-air when she approached.
Unexpectedly, Quentin, seeing red, took this chance to swing a punch at Tobias.
But before the punch could land, Quentin found his fist caught in Amelia’s hand, unable to move.
Amelia’s grip was so strong that Quentin couldn’t even withdraw his hand.
Eyes wide with fear, Quentin looked at Amelia.
Amelia’s voice was icy as she tightened her grip on his fist. "I said stop. Didn’t you hear me?"
