Chapter 331 Amelia Reveals Her Identity
Chapter 331 Amelia Reveals Her Identity
After hearing everything Dorian had to say, Amelia took a slow breath and let herself calm down.
Dorian had sharp instincts. She might seem laid-back most of the time, but when it mattered, she could cut straight to the heart of things.
She didn't know Trevor well, so naturally she was looking out for Amelia's interests, worried about the backlash and damage she might face if she got caught in the crossfire.
Dorian's three points were all valid. Amelia understood them perfectly, and she knew exactly what was at stake.
Would anyone really do something that brought nothing but harm and no benefit whatsoever?
Anyone who would had to be either a fool or someone driven by their own convictions.
After a moment of silence, Amelia spoke. "Dorian, thank you for thinking this through for me. But I've made up my mind. I'm going to set the record straight."
On the other end of the line, Dorian's voice carried a note of hesitation. "Amelia..."
Amelia's tone was resolute. "I've known Professor Lewis for years. He's dedicated to his research, not great with people, so he doesn't have many friends. Hardly any, really.
"Add to that the fact that he's not married and has no children. Right now, there's almost no one who's worried about what happens to him. And I doubt anyone at the university is willing to stick their neck out for him at a time like this.
"Those photos that got leaked? I'm the person in them. The so-called underage girl in the article? That's me. The claims are blatantly false, and I need to clear this up.
"The longer the people involved stay silent, the more the public will assume this isn't just alleged — it's fact.
"If I stay quiet because I'm afraid of getting caught in the crossfire, if I just stand by and watch while Professor Lewis gets taken to the police station and vilified online by thousands of people...
"Then I'm nothing but a coward who only looks out for herself. I wouldn't deserve to call you and Asher my friends. I wouldn't deserve to be Michael's partner or my brothers' sister."
Her words hung in the air, and for a moment, the line went quiet.
Amelia continued, "You're right. With that anonymous post out there now, I can't be one hundred percent certain it's a lie. I can't guarantee Professor Lewis never did those things.
"So I'm only going to clarify the parts that involve me. As for the attempted rape allegation, that's for the police to investigate.
"If he really did something like that, the law will make him pay. If he didn't, he shouldn't be condemned by public opinion.
"The authority to judge belongs to the law, not to internet commenters, and definitely not to the mob."
Her voice was steady and clear.
Dorian let out a breath that sounded almost relieved. "I knew you'd say that."
Amelia blinked. "Hm?"
Dorian said, "Amelia, honestly, I don't think Professor Lewis is the type to do something like that either.
"And I trust your judgment. If he were that kind of person, you wouldn't see him as someone worth respecting."
A warmth spread through Amelia's chest. "Thank you for supporting my decision, Dorian."
Dorian's tone suddenly turned light and playful. "I figured you'd go through with it, so I'm already here. Let's work on how to word this post together."
"Wait, what?" Amelia froze, and in the next second, she heard a knock at her door.
She opened it to find Dorian standing there with a bright smile, her eyes alight, already linking her arm through Amelia's. "Finally got an excuse to crash in your room. We're having a sleepover tonight."
Amelia couldn't help but laugh.
That was what friendship meant. No matter what happened, your friends would be there, so you'd never have to face it alone.
At exactly midnight, Amelia posted a public statement on her Instagram account.
It was the first time she'd ever registered and used the platform.
[Hi everyone. I'm a senior at Prestige High School. I'm also the girl in the first three blurred photos from that article.
The article claimed Professor Lewis "allegedly manipulated an underage girl."
I need to set the record straight: that accusation is false and has been seriously distorted.
I don't know who took those three photos, but they were taken two days ago at noon, outside a restaurant.
Professor Lewis did hand me a bank card and a gift that day.
But they weren't "bait" or anything inappropriate, as the article implied.
They were the prize money and commemorative item awarded by the FSI for a research paper I published. Professor Lewis was just passing them along to me. That paper, according to my friends, hit number one on Instagram's trending list a few days ago. The title was "Recent Advances and Future Directions in Acromegaly Research."
I published the paper under the pen name Azure. The FSI rated it at the highest level and awarded $200,000 in prize money along with a custom commemorative item.
Regarding the special admission slot: Before we met, Professor Lewis did consider offering me his Aurora College slot for this year. It wasn't to get anything from me. It was because he believed I had potential, and he thought that if I became his student and participated in research, I could contribute to the field of biomedical science.
I declined the slot for personal reasons, and he respected my decision.
The slot was never submitted.
As for the anonymous post that appeared today, I can't confirm whether it's true or false.
Regarding the accusations that Professor Lewis suppressed colleagues in his department at Aurora College, exploited students, and was verbally abusive, I won't comment for now.
But the claim that he used a special admission slot to manipulate me is completely untrue.
I hope everyone will stay rational.
Until the police investigation is complete, please don't jump to conclusions.
If Professor Lewis committed a crime, I trust the law will hold him accountable and protect the victims' rights. If he didn't do anything wrong, he shouldn't be vilified by public opinion.]
This was the first time she'd publicly revealed that she was Azure.
When Dorian heard her say she was the author of that paper, she was so stunned she couldn't speak.
Several minutes passed before she finally managed to get out, "Amelia, how many secrets are you keeping from me?"
The post had been carefully crafted, revised over and over by both of them to make sure every word was precise.
But as it turned out, no matter how careful you were, if people wanted to tear you down, they'd find something to criticize.
That night, she and Dorian shared a bed.
The next morning, they woke to exactly what they'd expected: a storm of ridicule, insults, and vicious remarks.
