Chapter Eighty-seven
Chapter Eighty-seven
Kacy
I couldn't just sit there and do nothing while Bryan is doing everything he can do to defeat the enemies. So, I have decided to follow him wherever he goes. If he dies, then it's better for me to die with him. It doesn't matter if I'm pregnant. Everyone's going to die anyway. If he can die for me, then I should do the same.
"Please, Kacy, reconsider what you're going to do. Bryan won't be happy if you go there," Francis said in a worried tone of voice.
"We don't have time left to reconsider things, Francis. The longer we wait, the more difficult it becomes. If you can let your friend go and wait without doing anything, then not me. We're not the same, Francis. So give me the address now," I demanded. I know I can't get it from him if I don't show him how serious I am.
"Please, Kacy—"
"I'm not asking you, Francis. It's my choice, and I've decided to follow Bryan. I don't know how he's doing right now. I can't just stay here and do nothing," I said.
"But it's dangerous. Very dangerous," he emphasized.
"I know. I might lose my life and my child if I do this. But I'm not doing this for nothing. It's for Bryan, and I can risk everything for him. There's only one thing I need from you, Francis. Give me the address. You don't have to come with me if you don't want to."
I can see how worried Francis is based on how he is acting. He's pressing the bridge of his nose and pacing back and forth. He probably doesn't know what to do. I have no idea what he and Bryan talked about. But I won't change my mind anymore. I would rather die with Bryan than live without him.
Francis finally stopped moving. He can't even look me in the eyes. "You're really not giving me a choice, Kacy. You've never changed. Even though you're already pregnant, you're still stubborn and live dangerously. I know I've not been a good friend recently, but no matter what happens, Bryan and you are the only friends I have, and if there's something I can do to help, I'd gladly do it."
"So what are you still waiting for? Let's go—"
"Wait. I know you're in a hurry, but we can't go there unarmed. Better bring something for protection," he said. "Follow me."
I smiled and followed him to a room where he kept all those guns and other equipment. It's been a while since the last time I've held one. But it's worth it. If I have to kill for the ones I love, then the pleasure is mine.
"Feel free to pick your gun," Francis said.
I picked two handguns and a handful of bombs. Guess it's time for me to show off my skills. I've learned how to use guns with both my hands. After putting on some gear, Francis and I finally went to the address. He brought me there in his car.
"We should call for backup," Francis said, stopping the car in front of a narrow alley. "We can't just attack the enemies in their own base. That'd be a suicide attempt."
"You call for backup; I'll save Bryan." I opened the car's door and stepped out.
"Would you please listen to me even just for a second?" Francis asked, begging.
"I'm sorry, but every second we wasted can kill Bryan."
"I know you're very excited to save him, but it's not the right time to be impulsive."
"You don't know how I feel right now, Francis. If I could burn the enemies' hideout, I would have done it already. Now don't tell me what to do." I loaded my gun and made my way through the narrow alley.
There were some girls who seemed so afraid passing by beside me. They must have been harassed by those mongrels. I continued walking until I saw a mansion. That must be the enemies' hideout.
Francis has been following me, trying to make a call for backup. But if we wait for anyone to come and help us, there's a great chance I won't be able to see Bryan again.
"Kacy, wait—" Francis tried to stop me, but I've already barged in the gate, shooting those guards watching as if I'm just playing a video game, but this one's real. It gets my heart pumping.
Those guys in suits saw me and flooded out of the entrance like tiny rats. They all looked similar, wearing shades. They don't even have guns with them but katanas, as if they were Japanese Yakuza. They charged towards me, so I threw bombs at them. They scattered everywhere as the bombs exploded. I wonder where their boss is.
I got inside the entrance. This mansion is huge. It'd take me some time to find Bryan. I checked every corner of the place. There are armed men almost everywhere. Thanks to my necklace. I used the barrier to protect myself from those bullets.
Soon, I heard a voice. Someone struggling in pain. Then I saw Bryan stepping down the stairs. He looked so bad, wounded, and bleeding. He stopped when he saw me. Then I saw the masked man behind him, dragging a huge axe.
"Bryan, no!" I screamed, running towards him, but it was too late. The masked man chopped him from the back.
Bryan knelt on the staircase. He was saying something, probably telling me to run, but I didn't listen. I approached him and shot the man. To my surprise, the bullets stopped mid-air as if they were being controlled. He might have some psychic abilities. But I didn't stop. I have to save Bryan no matter what, so I continued shooting. Then I saw those bullets turning towards me. I ducked for cover, but it was too late—those bullets hit my shoulders.
My vision blurred. I crawled, wanting to hold Bryan's hand, but my body felt heavy, and blood streamed on the staircase. Blood. But all I could think of was Bryan before the surroundings turned black.
