Second Epilogue
Kenahi stood in the empty halls of the palace. Somehow through all the devastation and war it still stood, perfect as it had ever been. If he closed his eyes he could still see the servants and elite wandering the halls. Could still hear the voice of the prince, his childhood best friend, who had now refused the title of king and settled for simply being prime, even as he had gifted the queen’s jewels to his mate.
Would that things could go back to being the way they had once been. Would that Vashina still lived. Perhaps that was why he could not bring himself to settle with one of the Earth women that remained. He still loved her. Even after all these years. Though, he had to admit that it was amusing to watch the theatrics of the men no longer fighting for battles, but for the hearts of women.
He sighed deeply. Not all the men would find mates though, and the thought brought out that restless loneliness that had always plagued him, except with Vashina.
He reached out a hand to the gilded walls, one last goodbye. Because there was something he knew that the rest of the Livarians did not.
Not all of the doors closed. Or rather, when they closed the doors they knew about new doors had opened instead. He couldn’t help but feel that they had started something beyond their comprehension. And while the others seemed to be content to remain with the compound, to settle and build lives of domestic bliss, he was not content at all.
Today. Today was the day he opted for change. And a new world was exactly what he needed. Maybe then he could find peace.
Author’s Note:
Thank you all for reading Keeping Mia! I appreciate all of the comments and feedback and am so very glad that the stories rolling around in my brain are somewhat amusing.
I do have exciting news and that is that I finally finished the rough draft of the next book in this collection: Taming Tianna! Just need to send it through my editor, which can, unfortunately, take a while, and then I will start posting.
Taming Tianna is a stand alone with all new characters in an all new world, it is an incredibly slow burn romance (sometimes characters just do their own thing no matter what you tell them), and I am very much looking forward to sharing her adventure with you.
Much love,
Lacey
