Just Love, Not Desire

The beginning between Flight Medic Yvette Orlando and Captain Albert Valdemar was a mistake. Albert merely enjoyed the physical intimacy with Yvette, while she deluded herself into seeking his love. Their marriage, prompted by Yvette's pregnancy, turned out to be a misguided start. Yvette lost everything in this union, and when she left, she didn't even receive a decent farewell from Albert. Albert always presumed that Yvette, being obedient and understanding, would never leave him in this lifetime. It wasn't until Yvette truly departed, disappearing so thoroughly that Albert couldn't find her despite all his efforts, that he finally grasped the feeling of regret. Many years later, the two crossed paths again. Yvette was engaging in light-hearted banter and flirting with others. Someone inquired of Yvette, "Why did your first marriage come to an end?" Yvette replied, "Due to widowhood." Unable to contain himself any longer, Albert stepped forward, cornering Yvette against the wall: "Yvette, did you truly think I was dead?"
