Chapter 74

Cynthia’s POV

I wonder if Nathanial, Cathy and Jessica have been told about the attack on the safehouse, yet. Surely Joe would have told them by now. They must be beside themselves with worry. They don’t need to be; we have our secret weapon; Gilly. Every time one of the assholes who took us; tries to open up the door; they scream in agony due to the burns. The five of us can’t contain our laughter. Sophia has yelled out a few times to get some burn cream.

Leader Carter did order, ‘no food’. Soph said; unlike humans, shifters can go without water for four to five days. They have a bathroom in here; water isn’t the issue. We can go longer without food; they must know Gil’s strength needs to hold up for the spell to work and with no food; it will weaken.

We have three separate guards who give us food and we have tracked the sound of their footsteps.

“Do you think they got hold of the kids yet?” I ask them. “If I know Alex; he will be revelling in the fact; he has risen from the dead” Leanne smiles. “Timmy and Toby will be doing all they can to get us back” Yvette smirks. We didn’t really deal with her a lot until Toby came into our lives. She has been a blessing from Goddess Selene since. I can’t speak for Leanne; Gilda or Sophia; but I for one, am happy she is here with us.

“Maybe we can get together for a Grandma Day once a week; when we get out of here” I say to them “I’m not that old, yet” Sophia scoffs. “You’re not too much younger than us Soph; Jasper isn’t far off mating age. I’ll rephase for you; we should get together once a week for coffee or brunch” I smile at her. She laughs; “I’m trying to hold out for the mating process as long as I can.” Quinton her mate was killed when Jasper was young and it’s been the two of them since. We can all relate with her.

“I don’t know about you; but I think it’s time for one of favourite three guards to come back on duty” Leanne says to us, changing the subject. “I could go for a nice steak; medium-rare” Yvette laughs. “That’s above our paid grade here; Vette” Gilda smirks.

We can hear footsteps come towards the door. It’s the heavy-footed guard. He stomps his way down the corridor outside. He opens up the slot; “a surprise for you; ladies” he gruffly says and closes the slot again.

“It’s not steak” Yvette yells out to him.

“Surprise; what could he mean?” I ask them. Gilda goes over to the food and grabs an apple off the tray. “Oh, my goddess” she shouts; picking up a piece of paper. “It’s Joe’s handwriting.”

“What does it say?” Sophia excitedly asks.

“He says: Gilly; looks like we have an a friend in the Maple Clan. He is helping us get to you. We let the kids and your father know what has happened and we will be coming for you soon. You will need to take the burn spell off the door before I can get you out. Pedro told us about it. I don’t want to get burnt again HA! HA! Will let you know when we are close by. Joe”

“Pedro? Is that the name of our heavy-footed guard?” Sophia asks. “I imagine so; we will have to thank him when he comes by next” Gilda adds. “He might get me my steak” Yvette laughs.

“Well ladies; this calls for a celebration” Leanne chimes in. “Apples all around” Sophia snorts grabbing the tray of apples and handing them around.

Olivia’s POV

“Dad’s back” I yell; as the small group come into view. The leaders are all waiting in the common room with Alpha Silias from the Sapphire Moon Pack, Leader Hendrix from the Shining Pride and Steven from the bar.

“We have some news for you” Dad says; walking through the door to the common room. “We can get through using the tunnel they have. We have made a friend who is willing to help us” he adds looking at Jeremy. Jeremy starts to blush; I narrow my eyes at him.

“They have motion sensors, hidden in the trees. Pedro knew we were there because of them. When Jeremy went to talk to him; he told us about them. Jeremy gave him his number to get in contact with us.” Master Leonard advised. “Why did Jeremy go to talk to him?” Jessica asks; his cheeks turning the shade of a Tomato.

Either this friend is someone he knows; or someone he stumbled upon, while doing this mission. My guess is the latter. “Umm; Jeremy; is this friend, a special friend?” I ask him.

I didn’t think he could turn any redder; I was wrong.

“Jeremy, would you like to explain, Pedro?” Derek asks him “Ahh, he is unique and very blunt” he whispers. “And?” Derek grins. “And,” he says taking a breath; “is my; mate.” Alex spat out the water he was drinking and Toby opens his mouth, *“don’t you fucking say a thing”* I scowl at him and he closes his mouth again.

“There is a reason they don’t know who is the doctor and who has a chemistry doctorate” Master Liz states. “The ladies are safe; let’s just say they underestimated the ability of the quintet. Pedro told us they placed all the ladies in a holding room. And Gilly put a spell on the door; they can’t open the door without getting their hand burnt” Granddad tells us. “And because of it; they can’t interrogate them” Dad adds.

Toby and myself started laughing uncontrollably. “That’s Mum for you” he snorts. “When we have our reinforcements; I will get Jeremy to message Pedro to establish when we can go get them” Dad smiles. It’s the first time he has properly smiled since we got back here.

“I’m glad you were able to find some help. The bar has been nothing but drunken, drug dealers; big noting themselves on what part they played in the capture of the ladies. Most of it, was an over exaggeration of the event” Steven chimes in.

Jeremy’s message tone sounds throughout the room; “Hmm; I wonder who that could be?” Alex smirks. We all look at him; he goes a nice shade of crimson again. “Well; Jeremy?” Timothy snickers at him. He pulls his phone out of his pocket. “Master Joe; he said he gave the ladies the note” he tells Dad. “And?” Toby, Alex and Tim ask him together.

“And; none of your fucking business” Jessica spits at them.

The men huff; “Jeremy; I am happy for you and Pedro. He is more than welcome into our pack” I tell him. “We need to rest up; the next couple of days are going to be; very intense” Seth says to us.

“Elder Matthews; where did Zuri go?” Samantha asks; “She’s right here, Sam” Beatrice says walking into the room. “When we got back; she made the decision to go see Doctor Bushell and get caged up again. I am very proud of her” she adds.

Samantha’s eyes started to well up; “I’m proud of her too” she smiles.
