Chapter 62
Samantha’s POV
I knew my brother was a fucking moron. Dad said Greg is not ready to take over as Leader; this just proves it. He doesn’t even recognise when someone is playing him. **“That explains the anxiety we felt when we got back here”** Ayanna says to me. **“And why it lifted suddenly. I’m glad Toby and Alex saw it for what it was.”**
We walk into the common room “Can everyone find a seat; Alex, Toby and myself need to speak with everyone as a matter of urgency.” “Sorry I’m late” Dad waltzes in the room. I shut the door; “Gerry can you put a silence spell around the room. And make sure no-one can enter in here?” he moves to the door; muttering the spells.
I start; “As some of you are aware; we have all been feeling a little anxious since we got to Fungua. Alex and Toby, saw what it was and rectified it” “It was Jonas actually. He asked me ‘what was wrong with me’ and we spoke about it. I asked Toby, Seth and Tim also; about what they were feeling and between the four of us; we were able to recognise there is a spell around the territory making everyone feel more anxious.”
“Dad; how much have you told Greg and Sharon about what we are doing around here?” I ask. “Not much; like I told you before our visit; there are ears everywhere. I had become suspicious of a warlock called Richard five years ago when he became their trusted advisor. I couldn’t prove anything and he is the main reason I have not passed the leadership down to Greg yet.”
I can see the relief in Jessica’s eyes. She was terrified Richard knew about her mother. It doesn’t matter; I still want double detail on Cynthia because he is sure to get wind of what she is doing here.
“Why would someone put a spell around the whole territory to make everyone have anxiety?” Nicole asks everyone. “There is a drug problem? What better way to sell more drugs than to make everyone around you anxious? You are anxious and your counterpart is happy and content when the drug is taken” Harvey tells her.
“The safe guards I put on the house are temporary; it will last a month at most; hopefully that will be long enough for us to seek out the information needed. If we need longer; I will have to redo them” Gerry tells us.
“Are we able to arrest Richard?” Cameron asks. “We don’t know if it’s him and we don’t have enough evidence to hold him” Alex says. “Nath; Ads we may need you to get the sample sooner than we think and Cynthia; we are assigning double protection on you. Jessi will have our ass if something happens to you” Toby includes.
“Since you are here Coby; you will be assigned to Cynthia” Dad tells him. “He can stay with Beck; now they have mated” I exclaim. Everyone looks at Rebecca; she’s blushing, poor thing. I remember when Raoul caught me; I would blush too, whenever someone mentioned it.
“Leader Bronson; do you have the River Clan ready? We should let everyone know our strategy now?” Adrian asks. “Ready whenever you are” he says.
“The River Clan are going to come and attack; blame Fungua Pride for the drug problem. Jessi you are going to be taken by them. We figured it was going to be too hard to fake Gamma Zach’s death again so, we are opting for Jessica to be taken again” he tells everyone
“Jessi being taken for the second time will send me over the edge, into a deep depression” Nathanial adds to the conversation. “They will bring you back to the safehouse when they are done. You won’t be leaving the territory, Jessica” Dad includes.
“We should do this tonight; our defences are short for another few days” Tim says “I will call Leader Reggie and let him know” Bronson says. “Make sure; Richard knows we will be defending the territory tonight” Alex smirks.
“How is the fight meant to work? Won’t your warriors or families try and defend the territory?” Benjamin asks Nathanial, Adrian and Dad.
“The guards know what is happening; Leader Bronson has been getting us to practice serious fighting without killing” Coby informs him.
“How many men are they expecting to come over to do this?” Brian asks. “We are expecting around 60 men and women to come for a fight” Dad tells them
“Can I electrocute someone; Please?” Olivia looks at everyone hopeful.
“Only if it doesn’t kill them. And to further Coby’s answer Ben; I will mind link everyone to get to the bunkers. There should be nobody from the pride besides our guards fighting. We are assuming the rouges will be watching on; so, it needs to be believable. Once they grab Jessica, they will flee. We will expect everyone to tell their security detail what is happening” Dad injects.
“I’m going to keep Andre inside the safehouse with Cynthia. Tobias, can you assign one of your enforcers as well?” Tim asks; “I’ll do it” Rebecca pipes up.
“I just want to reiterate; we are safe here. The moment you step outside the doors; you will become anxious again. Don’t let the anxiety cloud your judgement; keep to the task” Gerard reminds everyone.
“Let’s go tell everyone what is happening tonight. And take care” I say to everyone.
I go see my father; while the leaders talk amongst themselves; “I know Greg probably hasn’t got anything to do with any of this. He’s too stupid to be able to pull off a drug ring. But what about Sharon? Does she have something to do with Richard and the drugs?” “To be honest Sammy; I don’t know who is involved and who isn’t at the moment. I have loyal follows like Coby and some honoured guards but we haven’t been able to trust anyone. I’m at my wits end with it all; you are our last hope” he tells me.
“We will need to keep as much information within these walls as we can. Even Mum can’t know some of it.” I frown at him. She sees Greg as an innocent person; he is far from innocent in all of this and I’ll be damned if he thinks he is getting away with his actions this time.
“I am keeping some cards close, Sam. We will all get through this; one way or another” he smiles. “We better go and tell who needs to be told what is happening tonight” I say to him; walking out the door.
