Chapter 134 Life Is Saved

"The company's in shambles, Dad's dealing with it, and you're still messing around with your mistress?" Isabella shot at him.

"Isabella, how dare you talk to me like that? You have no respect!" Nolan fired back, both embarrassed and angry.

"Look at what you've done. Don't you feel any guilt?" Isabella snapped.

Nolan, feeling a bit guilty, avoided her gaze and asked, "What's that jerk Preston up to? His grandpa's in trouble, he took off, and now we can't reach him?"

"Why did he run? And why did he go back to Crystal Haven Estate? As his father, don't you know anything?" Isabella retorted.

"He must've been scared! He couldn't even kill a chicken before, there's no way he could kill a person! It must've been Dad and Ryan who got into a fight, and Dad fainted. He got scared and ran," Nolan said confidently, though his logic was hard to follow.

Preston had always been a troublemaker, like using a slingshot to shoot birds. He even bullied younger kids, not just James, but also his classmates back then.

Isabella sneered, "Everything's just speculation now. Let's wait for the cops to check the surveillance footage!"

"What surveillance?"

"The surveillance in the living room of Crystal Haven Estate."

"What? There's surveillance in the living room of Crystal Haven Estate?" Nolan broke out in a cold sweat.

"What's wrong? You didn't bring your mistress there, did you? How could Ella tolerate that?" Isabella said. Nolan said nothing and hurriedly left.

"What did he come here for? He didn't even ask how Dad is doing, didn't explain anything, and just left like that?" Isabella was furious and complained loudly.

"Mom, keep your voice down. Grandpa Hayden needs to rest," I reminded her softly. Hearing this, she glanced at Hayden and nodded.

"Now that Ryan is dead, the house should be sealed off. I just had someone buy some clothes for your grandpa, they'll be delivered soon. I'll make a few calls, you keep an eye on him."

"Go ahead, Mom."

I finished the remaining burger and stayed with Daniel to watch over Hayden.

Of course, I also wanted to eavesdrop on who Isabella was calling and what she was saying.

But now Nolan's family was in turmoil because of Preston. Maybe I wouldn't even need to seek revenge; they might destroy themselves.

"Your grandpa hasn't been in the circle for over ten years. Today is only the second time I've seen him," Daniel said.

"He's been semi-retired for a long time. Nolan has been managing the company all these years." Honestly, even though Nolan embezzled some of the company's assets, the Taylor Group didn't collapse under his management for over a decade.

After a while, Samuel returned, followed by Mason and his family.

"How's my dad?" Mason asked as soon as he entered the ward.

"He's stable, but he'll be in a coma for a while. We need to watch him closely," I replied.

"What a misfortune! I heard it was Preston who injured my dad?" Mason said, slapping his thigh, then looked at me and asked, "Emily, were you scared?"

"I'm fine, but my Mom was really frightened."

"Why bring that up? I thought your grandpa was dead at that moment." Isabella didn't continue, but everyone understood.

Finn placed some fruit, two cups, and a kettle on the table and said, "This is for you to get hot water from the hospital."

"Finn, that's very thoughtful of you," Isabella praised.

"It's what I should do," Finn said, then looked at me and Daniel, nodding at us.

Finn's mother, Elizabeth Perez, also greeted us and looked at Daniel, saying, "Emily, is this your boyfriend? He's really handsome, even more so than in the photos."

"Elizabeth, you've seen photos of Daniel?" I asked.

"I let it slip," Elizabeth glanced at Finn and continued, "You went on a blind date with Finn before, so I wanted to see what kind of man caught your eye. He's really great."

"How could you say that in front of your son? Aren't you worried he'll feel bad?" Mason teased.

"What's the big deal? My son takes after me, not as strong and manly as you. Who knows, he might bring home a wife with a big temper and a big build," Elizabeth said, making Mason's mouth twitch with a smile. They were showing off their affection, and Isabella couldn't stand it. "I was about to eat, but you guys are making me lose my appetite."

I was also about to eat the food Samuel brought back and smiled awkwardly at her words.

Finn sat on the couch and said, "Our family isn't small. If everyone comes to see Grandpa later, this single ward might not have enough seats."

"Then we'll stand. Dad is fine anyway, and too many people in one place isn't good for the air," Mason said bluntly.
