Chapter 34: The Seed
Chapter 34: The Seed
My need to get to the bottom of it all grow even greater as the seed saga grow gains more attention not just from the people of Northenham but all her neighbours. Everyone is saying a thing or two about it, some simply in denial while some angry that my Father sought to deceive the people like that and during the event of thus saga, my Dad still sought to other powerful elite to come to his aid with a promise of half the authority he owns but who would dare go against Stephen.
As the tension grow bigger, the tension between my family and I grow even more. I try as much as I can to avoid my Mum least she goes crazy and decides to kill me. Everyone's accusing me that I knew everything about the seeds and I'm the only one that could've given Stephen the information about the reality behind this seeds.
Everyone now and then I'll hear mum mutter under her breath " And Tee died for nothing " .
After two weeks of heated scrutiny by the public, what seems like our saving grace arrives. Nathan comes back bringing smiles back to our faces and hopes to our heart. I'd long given up on Stephen coming for me, He had no use for me now that my family was crumbling.
I look from my balcony as Nathan exchanges pleasantries with my parents with a bouquet I barely recognise. They spend a while there seemingly deliberating about something before inviting him in.
" Hey Sally " He pulls me into a hug when I enter the living room, " all this must be tough for you considering you're pregnant and your husband is not here " He says breaking the hug and assessing me
" serves her right for stealing what's not hers " I hear Renae's annoying voice behind me
I turn to her with a mocking smile, She's wearing her natural blonde in lose wave today, that's weird
" I'm not the only one feeling the heat of the situation dearest wronged sister "
She wants to say something but Dad stops her and waves her to sit. I take a sit next to Nathan far away from my mother's reach scared that she might try to kill me again. When we're all comfortable, Nathan tells us about the stand of his father in law in the matter and I see Dad's face fall immediately in defeat. I knew Dimitri was a chicken when it came to serious matters, he's never had to balls to go against The Colberts so definitely he wasn't the one that tried to get me killed.
" His refusal to help is coming from a place of resentment concerning his nephew's matter. " Everyone's eyes turn to me and I wish in that moment that I could disappear
" But there's a way out of this " Nathan continues bringing back hope to us all " As far as Stephen doesn't get a hand on the mean documents with your signatures on it, all this will be is his suspicions, nothing more "
" That's true but Stephen is not someone that follows the Law, He might just come in here and slaughter us all in our sleep " Mum adds
Nathan shrugs " you have his wife and chid here, she the best chip to keep you guys safe for the time being "
Dad stands up, pacing the living room " That's right. He won't try to kill us as far as Sally is here, that's if he really cares about her and the baby. "
My blood boils at the fact that they only see me as a bargaining chip
Mum scoffs " I doubt they're usefulness of that daughter " she looks at me with disdain " if it was Renae, it would've been a different story, what's the certainty that Stephen will not push her to her death over this misunderstanding. He has done it before and he can do it again "
Her eyes widens in realisation then she immediately schools her facial expression
" How'd you know that mum " I ask and Renae nods in agreement
Dad coughs " That's not the matter "
Mum nods in agreement " Your father is right but I doubt anyone will know the urgency of this matter considering all she does is steal " Mum's accusing gaze lands on me
Now I've had enough of being called a thief
" Why won't you just move on " I groan in frustration " If I hadn't married Stephen, the marriage would've been cancelled and that goes for your deal too "
Mum rises to her feet, her eyes still glued to mine " Don't start that with me Sallyanne. Don't start acting all innocent and trying to play saviour "
Dad tries to calm her down but she shrugs him off pointing accusing fingers at me
" You've always wanted the life your sister had so when you saw that she was getting an opportunity to get married to one man she'd always wanted, you snatched it from her "
Renae nods in agreement " You're not as innocent as you pretend to be Sallyanne "
Mum laughs sarcastically " Oh you don't even know my baby, only your Dad and I know who she really is "
Nathan walks over to me handing me the bouquet he brought with him and whispering that I should calm down but I was fed up with this shenanigan, I don't break eye contact with mum
" I'm the villain? " I laugh wholeheartedly " I'm the villain but it's your Renae that tried to kill her own sister and you all covered up for her " there's a collective gasp in the room but I don't stop there
" Oh how can I forget that you still covered her tracks when she drugged and led Ted right to my room to molest me while you kept the guests too entertained to come upstairs "
Dad looks at Mum then Renae " Is that true? " He looks at me " How sure are you that it was your sister that tried to kill you. Why would you make such ridiculous claims "
" Ask yourself Father, is Renae really incapable of trying to kill me out of spite over the fact that I married Stephen and was able to live happily with him. She desperately wishes it was her "
" You're lying, Stephen does not even love you " Renae screams
I smirk " You know I'm not lying "
Everyone's movement stops and I feel a presence behind me causing chills to run down my spine . . . .
" I . . . I . . Di. . Didn't " Renae stammers
" My Wife never lies " I hear his voice behind me
I want to turn but I'm rooted in place by the overwhelming cold. I begin shivering and sneezing, it's not him . . . I look down at the bouquet in my hand, it's the flowers. It should be the flowers . . . . I'm allergic to Purple hibiscus. I feel my head explode with memories and my vision goes blank.
