Chapter 32: Plot
 There's a loud crash downstairs before I can even make it to the next page, I hurriedly put the box away and rush down to see what the commotion is all about. Mum is throwing everything within her reach in the living room while Dad is just sitting down with his head bowed and his fingers intertwined between his legs. 
 " I knew that Stephen was going to double cross us, I knew he was not to be trusted " Mum screams in anger 
 Dad groans in frustration and palms his forehead " I should have seen this coming. How could he embarrass us like that. He wants to make us look like fraudulent people, then what next? " 
 Mum seems to have felt my presence, her head whips around and she charges towards me screaming " it's all your fault " 
Before I can dodge her advances, her hand is already on my throat literally crushing my windpipe, I claw at her but she doesn't budge. She's so mad beyond reasoning 
" You sold us out right?. Only you could've done that. Only you knew about everything, I knew you were going to betray this family one day " 
I struggle in her hold " I. . . I . . . Don't know wha . . . What you're ta. . . .talking about " 
" Liar " her hand on my throat tightens cutting off my air in take " You remember everything right? " 
Dad sluggishly peels mum off me " Calm down " 
I fall back gasping desperately for air while my Dad tells my mum to contain her anger. When my breathing steadies, Dad squatts next to me. I look up at him with tears in my eyes after almost dying by my mum's hands but the expression on his face is suspicious 
" what's going on " I whisper through tears
His eyes hold no comfort for me, he just stares at me blankly " We're being investigated by your husband Sally because he's found out that other plants can't grow next to the plants from the Green seeds, The seeds can only be used twice afterwhich the land becomes ineffective. He got his hands on the actual documents for the seed modification "
My eyes widens " what ? " I ask confused, I didn't know that. If that's the case, weren't the seeds bad for farmers and farmlands, it means Dad lied to the public and everyone. 
" You really don't know? " He says
How would I have known such a thing, I shake my head. He nods but before he can stand the door bursts open and a troop of armed men swamp into the house followed by Stephen and Jason. 
" Search the entire house for any documents and formula related to the seeds. Also anything incriminating " Stephen Orders and the troop scatters 
 " You're crossing the line Stephen " Mum says in a low threatening voice 
 He doesn't pay attention to her, he walks up to me and helps me up from the floor. His eyes goes from my face to my neck and his face goes dangerously cold. 
 " Who did this to you " He says in a low voice inspecting the area on my neck 
 I want to say I'm fine but I just stare at him. It all happens so fast, one minute his hand is caressing my shoulder and the next minute his fit is connecting with my Dad's jaw. He knees his stomach and forces my Dad on his knees while Mum screams at him like a maniac but she doesn't dare interfere 
 " The next time your wife lays a hand on my wife, I'll kill her right in front of you. I'll burn her and all of you to the ground " He says, his voice low
" Stephen " my voice comes out barely above a whisper, the world under my feet is swaying and it seems everyone's so fat away. I call out to him again but it doesn't seem like anyone's hearing me, I try as much as I can to hold on to my consciousness but my world goes blank when the door opens and Renae enters.
 I open my eyes to find my parents cooing a baby girl wrapped in a pink blanket.
 " Nathan come see your sister, isn't she so beautiful? " Mum says in hush tones 
 A young version of Nathan runs past me with a fire truck in his hand. I look around the unfamiliar home that somehow feels too familiar then my eyes fall on a little girl barely over two outside digging the ground while the family is cooing over the newborn. She stops then turns to me with a smile 
 " We'll name her Renae " Dad's voice comes from behind me 
Mum walks over to the little blonde girl outside with the baby in her hand" Sally come here " she says anger evident in her voice. 
 The scene changes to a dimly lit basement and I remember that smell so well. The smell of purple hibiscus, I turn around to see a man with his back to me. 
" Look your daughter's preposition is very smart. If the seeds produce for a limited period of time, the farmers and every other person involved will always depend on us " 
" Are you sure? " My mum asks unsure 
" Yes Ri, It'll give us so much power. You'll have the power you've always desired " 
" Tee, Do you think he'll agree to this?. You know Bruce thinks that girl speaks rubbish and i also don't trust her " Mum's voice comes out shaky and unsure 
He laughs, his laughter rich and amusing " you know how to make him. This addition to the project is the only way I can help you rise to power Ri, I promise I'll talk to . . . . " 
 The conversation is cut off by a sharp ring in my ear, it's a fire alarm in a school's hallway. The kids are running to safety but that blonde little girl is at the top of the stairs 
 The girl looks right at me and smirks like she can see through me then mouths " I know what you are " before throwing herself down the stairs 
 I jolt awake trying to catch my breath
" I know what you are " the words ring in my head like a bell bringing up blurry images and faint hush words. My brain desperately tugs at memories I never knew I had
