CHAPTER 118

Ignas then disappeared into the streets after hearing police sirens approaching. Even the man he spared didn’t stay long at the scene. Despite his pain, he ran to the car they had come in and vanished with incredible speed, leaving everyone astonished.

The young man was breathing heavily, bleeding profusely. He made sure to reach his boss’s house, where he barged in hurriedly. He found his boss, Oden, seated with his gun on the table, and his wife sitting on a nearby sofa. She had been positioned there to witness her husband's supposed lover being tortured and killed in front of her eyes.

They were all shocked when the man entered the house, bleeding from one hand and holding a piece of paper in the other, which he handed to his boss after kneeling in front of him. Oden didn’t ask any questions at first; he wanted to read the note. But before he could read anything, he felt as if someone else had entered the room. He lifted his head and…… surprise! He was stunned to see his sister, Asharose Mkupi, standing there.

She was his twin, older by a few minutes. Asharose was the elder, and he was the younger.

“Sister,” he called her in shock.

She had been abroad for several years studying law. Their father had been adamant that she shouldn’t return to the country, but she insisted on coming back after the tragic assassination of the president and the chief justice. She claimed she needed to investigate the matter because these leaders were killed far too easily. She also longed to meet Yasinta Kobe, a lawyer who claimed to have evidence regarding everything that happened that day.

Since Asharose’s return to the country, none of her relatives had reached out to her, not her brother, nor her father. They all continued living their lives until she surprised her brother, who had no idea she could be there. That’s why he was so shocked, especially because he had been conducting his affairs in secret without his sister knowing, given her strong sense of justice and the law.

But there was more. He had been hiding a heavy secret in his heart, one known only to him and a few close confidants. His wife was being satisfied by another man. Everyone in the room was gripped by an unexplainable tension, and the situation was too complicated to describe easily.

First, he had the difficult task of explaining how a man with such severe injuries was there instead of at the police station or hospital.

What exactly was going on? He knew those questions would soon be asked by his lawyer sister, which is why his shock mixed with an intense fear in his eyes.

In his state of shock, his sister moved closer to him and took the paper. There was nothing he could do; she was his only sibling, and he had no strength to resist her, so he remained as calm as water in a pot.

"You need to understand the world and the people living in it before making decisions about how to live with them. If you rush to understand the rules of living with humans, you will end up in a very bad place. Me sleeping with your wife in front of you, I know that’s never been easy for you because I understand what a wife means. I knew from the first day I started sleeping with your wife, right in front of your eyes, that one day you'd want to kill me. I congratulate you on that. You have a very strong heart.

"But did you think I didn’t know that you’d eventually plan to kill me to protect your secret? I knew it from the moment I found out that you’ve been impotent since the day you had your accident. You can’t even get an erection, yet you’re married. That would be a huge embarrassment in the community, so you wanted to hide it through me. And yes, I’ve helped your wife, now she’s pregnant. But you want to kill me so you can claim her and the child.

"However, there’s one big mistake you’ve made. You don’t know the kind of person you’re trying to kill. If you knew me, you would have run far from this world long ago, because when your time comes, something I’ve written down in my own records, you will die. You have less than five months left to live, and it will be in my hands. For now, I have my reasons for sparing your life, but there’s nothing you can understand yet because you don’t even know your own life history, or your father’s. You’re just proud of your money and power.

"You have no power over me, even if I stand before you and your biological father. The reason I’m giving you this message is to tell you that I’m the one who provided that lawyer, Yasinta Kobe, with evidence about the murders and how you and your father were directly involved in exterminating those people. My face is unknown, and the person you think you’ve seen is a completely different human being, someone even that lawyer doesn’t know by appearance.

"We’ll speak in detail the day I come out in public, revealing my true identity. But let me remind you of one thing, that woman isn’t your wife; she’s my wife, and the child she’s carrying is my own blood. So, her safety and that of the child are directly tied to your life. If anything happens to her, you won’t survive twenty-four hours. I still have the evidence, and the entire country will know about the stupidity you and your father have been doing. But you’ll also die.

"My name is Jabir Denilo Felix."

That was the message written on the piece of paper that Asharose took from her brother and read aloud, making sure everyone inside could hear it clearly, even before greeting her brother.

What prompted her to read the paper first was the alarming situation she found inside, as the level of safety seemed very low.

As they all remained in shock, with some stunned more than others, except Asharose, for whom everything was new, they suddenly heard screams for help from outside the house, followed by abrupt silence.
