Chapter 104 Charline's manipulation
Chapter 104 Charline's manipulation
Reno's pov
On seeing Charline smug face as she sat across me in the bar, my chest tightened. I knew her coming here isn't a good one.
“So you came to earth.?" She calmly asked, following my line of sight and saw it led to dancing Emma.
Just then, Ariana staggered over and Will took her away, still gazing at us suspiciously i know he's concerned about Emma and thinking of that alone made me uncomfortable.
“What do you want.?" I asked in between my teeth at this woman who could never allow me have peace.
“It's not about what I want Reno.! Your baby needs his father. Come back to hell and marry me. It has been long overdue" she replied with an irritated tone.
“I'm not ready" i calmly stated, suddenly feeling hot despite the air conditioners.
“When we get married, you'll be ready. I'm going to inform your father about this pregnancy and once he knows about it, marriage is inevitable” she revealed her final trump card.
My hand tightened around the glass i was holding and it shattered to pieces, cutting me. One of my guards who has been watching us quickly ran over with first aid.
I waved him off and stood up. " Let's just get out of here”
Charline stood up too and took my hands in hers. “Don't worry sweetheart you'll be okay. Just forget about that Emma girl and focus on our happy future” she cooed, resting her head on my shoulder.
I looked at her disgustingly and pushed her away. She dramatically fell to the ground and began to cry loudly. Thankfully, the loud music and coloured light drowned half of the situation.
" Just get up and stop behaving like a toddler” i snapped and walked away briskly with my bodyguard trailing behind.
She followed me back to the villa where her belongings were waiting outside.
“Your security refused me entry" she fumed, picking up her luggage.
“That's what they're paid for" i curtly replied and signaled the guards to let her come in with me. She gloated at them before marching in like the chair lady of the house.
After walking around the house like a lost sheep and complaining about every bit of furniture, she settled for my room of all places.
“Why?!" I roared in anger at her, but she put on a terrified look and burst into tears.
“Whenever i sleep at night, my back begins to hurt because of my bloated tummy. Carrying your child isn't easy at all" she cried pathetically and the remaining few househelps cast me a shrewd stare.
My fist clenched as i struggled to control my anger and simply walked away before I did something crazy. She knew mentioning my child was my weak point so she used it to blackmail me.
Fed up by everything, i went to the silent garden behind my estate and collapsed on a rocking chair. I reached for my phone and dialed Emma but it rang without any reply, so i gave up and gradually dosed off on the chair.
I was awoken by an argument and from the glass, i saw the silhouette of Charline and another person she was blocking from entering into the estate.
I hurried over and my heart sank the instant i saw it was Emma.
“ Honey, i can explain i promise. It's not what it looks like" i desperately tried to explain in panic.
“Yes it's not.! Because what it looks like now is why someone with a pregnancy, is at your apartment. Comfortably.!" She yelled.
“Well.. since my darling Reno is too tongue tied to respond to your mad rantings, I'll tell you what's going on. I'm pregnant with Reno's child, the heir apparent to hell." Charline cut in smugly.
Emma’s face changed from anger to shock and disbelief. “That's impossible.." i mumbled, staggering back.
“It's very possible Emma. And if i were you, I'll pack my load and steer clear away from the father of someone's unborn child. I wonder what he still sees in you after all you've done to him" Charline continued.
Emma bit her lips bitterly and turned to me with glassy eyes. “Is it true.? Was this what you were doing while i suffered on earth.?"
“Emma.. please" i tried to explain but she shook her head and spun around, taking off towards the exit.
I wanted to run after her but Charline slipped and sprained her ankle. Helpless, I supported her inside and ran out again but Emma was nowhere to be seen.
My heart shattered and I searched the surroundings but only the sounds of crickets and fireflies were prominent. Just like the night we met.
I tried calling her but her line was unreachable. With a hopeful heart, i went back inside praying for her safety and return.
Charline tried cozying up to me when i came in but was totally ignored by me as i stormed to my room.
After sometime, i heard hurried footsteps pass my door but didn't pay much attention to it.
Then it passed again, this time dragging a luggage along. It hit me– Emma's room is the one next to mine.!
I jumped up and ran to check downstairs through the railings. It was indeed her dragging a suitcase out of the estate with a smug Charline taunting behind her.
Why's she leaving.? Had things really gotten to that extent? I hurried down the stairs and held her luggage, making her halt.
What's going on.? Why are you packing your things Emma.?” I questioned anxiously but Charline suddenly gave an ear piercing scream.
" The baby…the baby.." she cried, gasping for air and fanning herself with her hands.
I was torn immediately. Emma's eyes were on me as if asking me to make my choice. But i didn't have a choice. I let go of her luggage and helped Charline into the villa to call a doctor for an examination.
Two days past and Emma didn't come back. My worry grew and i blamed myself every second for her disappearance. I regretted ever making a child with Charline and wished i could turn back the hands of time to correct that particular mistake, but sadly only heaven has such powers.
Charline noticed my emotional detachment and stopped trying to get closer to me.
Finally, Max was able to the information about a ticket Emma booked under my name.
She was in South Africa!
