Chapter 69 69: No More Girls
Saint succeeded in keeping Baby on his bed, once again, staring at the sleeping man.
He couldn't seem to be able to take his eyes away from Baby, everything still seemed so unreal to him.
He never thought last night would get the night, he never even thought the night would ever come. But, somehow, Baby and he had found their way to each other and it felt so fucking good.
He caressed the soft, blonde baby hair lining Baby's exposed forehead, his heart beating warmly in his chest.
He just couldn't believe it, Baby Danvers, on the same bed as him, naked and letting him touch him however he wanted.
He bit his lip as tingles shot through his body. Not in his entire life has he ever felt so whole, and so right.
For the first time, he was doing something he wanted for himself, and it felt fucking good.
"Baby!" A knock suddenly rattled against their door, followed by Cam's loud voice.
Saint stilled, zoning out for a full second.
Another series of knocks got him mittering under his breath before he placed his hand on Baby's cheek and whispered his name.
"Baby," he called softly, gently tapping Baby's cheek.
Baby didn't even flinch.
Saint was suddenly feeling like a deer caught in a headlight, heart thumping and eyes widened in ultimate fear.
"Baby, come on, walk up. Your friend is out there," Je murmured, tapping Baby's arm.
No response.
"Really? Fuck this," he muttered under dee his breath before he pressed his lips again Baby's.
Almost instantly, Baby responded by moving his lips but Saint was gone before he knew it.
Slowly, he opened his eyes, frowning, "Don't do that. Don't kiss me if you're going to pull away." He murmured sleepily.
Saint sighed, glancing at his door before he cupped Baby's face, "Baby, you know I can kiss you till my lips numb out. But right now –"
"Baby fucking Danvers! Open the door this instant!" Cam shouted from the apartment door.
"Fuck," Baby rasped and lifted the bed with force.
"No, no, no, fucking no," he murmured as he rolled out of Saint's bed, pulling his shorts up his waist in a beat.
"We fucking slept in, and this is all your fault," Baby whisper-yelled, pointing an accusing finger at Saint.
Saint didn't mean to but he smiled, watching Baby's frantic effort to look normal as he used his fingers to comb through his messy hair.
His eyes fell on the marks on Baby's neck, his dick jerking as he recalled how he'd left them there.
He quietly got out of bed, walked up to Baby, and hugged him from behind.
"Rekax, Baby. It's just Cam," he whispered, kissing Baby's neck.
"That's exactly why we can't let 'just Cam' find this out," he gestured his hand over the messy room and himself.
Saint sighed, "God, you're sexy when you're anxious –"
"I'm serious, Saint," Baby jumped out of Saint's arms and lifted a finger to Saint's face, "Keep your fucking dick away from me at the moment. I need to think straight." He muttered, taking deep breaths and looking away from Saint's body.
"Chill, sugar. Just act normal. It isn't the first time he's seen you right after you had sex," Saint said, walking over to his wardrobe.
"But this time it's with you... a man," Baby murmured, lowering his eyes to the floor as his words reminded him of the weight of what they'd just done.
Saint's fingers tightened around the handle of the wardrobe, his heart stinging greatly from Baby's words.
He knew Baby was still skeptical about them, but he didn't need to hear how Baby thought of them as a sin, a taboo.
"Just go, act normal. He won't know a thing," Saint spoke calmly.
Baby nodded his head, turning without sparing Saint another glance.
"Right... I'll just act normal," he muttered, combed his fingers through his hair one last time, and then pulled Saint's door open.
As he walked past the sofa where everything had started last night, his heart skipped a beat, heat flushing up his cheeks.
'God, Saint is so intense,' he paused, fanning his face to chase the heat away.
Taking long, deep breaths, he walked over to the door, unlocking it without thinking twice.
"Ah, finally!" Cam groaned, storming into the apartment with a file in his hand.
Baby closed the door and slowly turned to face his best friend.
"Morning, Cam," he greeted awkwardly for lack of what to say.
He was hoping Cam didn't notice anything out of place.
Cam paused in front of the sofa, staring at the falling glasses of wine. Slowly, he turned, his eyes narrowing as he took his friend in.
"I knew it!" Cam snapped his fingers, taking slow steps toward Baby.
Baby's heart flew right out of his mouth, his hands instantly turning sweaty as he saw the look of recognition on Cam's face.
"You knew? Knew what?" Baby tried to sound calm, the opposite of what his insides were feeling at the moment.
What did Cam know? Why was Cam staring at Baby as if he could see right through his soul?
Cam circled Baby in slow, agonizing steps, his eyes going everywhere on Baby's body.
"Empty glasses of wine, hickeys...daring hickeys, messy hair, swollen lips, eyes that glowed like you're still thinking of the sex... I told the guys, we even bet on it, and as usual, I was right," Cam halted in front of Baby, lifting his brows.
Baby chuckled, too loudly. He cleared his throat, folding and unfolding his arms, "You... you're ridiculous, Cameron. What are you talking about thus ealry morning –"
"Early morning? You've gotta be kidding me," Cam scoffed, "Look at the damn time Baby. It's midnoon! You fucking risked your career and reputation for a good ride... the best youve ever had i might ask... given how well laid you look," Cam retorted, shaking his head in disappointment.
"What? Midnoon? I missed practice?" Baby asked, glancing at the wall clock and realising that he had indeed missed practice.
"And classes," Cam sighed, his gaze softening.
"Come on, Baby. I know you had a chick over last night. I'm your best friend and I know exactly how you handle stress..." he paused and placed a gentle hand on Baby's shoulder, "And I know this Unified Contract with Saint has put a lot of pressure on you. But I need you to stay focused. No more bringing girls over, okay?" Cam asked tenderly, smiling at his best friend.
A soft sigh escaped Baby's lips.
His cold-frozen body started to warm up.
He was about to lose consciousness if Cam mentioned Saint's name for a second. Turns out, Cam only thought he was fooling around with girls as usual.
He smiled, "Sure, Cam... no more girls." He agreed, too easily.
"I don't believe you," Cam countered.
Baby chuckled, "I'm really done with girls... believe me." He assured, his eyes flying shortly to Saint's door.
"Great, now, I need to eat before I deliver your message from Shannon, my dear cousin," Cam said the last part with dread.
Baby groaned, "Why do I have an idea what it is?" He asked in dismay.
"Enough about boring Shannon. Come, let's make a meal to fill our tummies. I'm sure you must be starving after such a rough night," Cam winked suggestively.
He didn't wait for Baby to reply and pulled his hand toward the kitchen.
