Chapter 27 27: Not A Single Alcohol
"Or else?" Saint asked, slowly raising his brows.
Baby released an exasperated sigh, "Listen, we were drunk, okay? If this gets out, we're done for, Saint. If you really want to get in, you'll never mention this to anyone –"
"You kissed me and –"
"For fuck's sake! I know that!" Baby whispered, covering Saint's mouth with his hand again, his eyes glaring in disbelief.
"Saint, it was a drunken mistake, alright. And, for once, I apologise for initiating whatever that was. It should never have happened, and if you're planning to blackmail with it, I suggest you think twice because if I go down, you're going down with me," he roughly pushed Saint away, his jaw tight in anger.
Saint braced himself on the board, his eyes flashing with conflicted emotions.
"So, drunken mistake it is?" Saint asked, voice dark and icy.
Baby frowned, skating closer to Saint, "Of course, Saint. What else would it be?" He roughly shrugged his shoulder against Saint's as he skated back to his teammates.
Saint stood there, hand tightening around his sticks as he asked himself the same question.
'What else would it be?' He glanced to the side and saw Baby speaking to Rode, his hand on Rode's shoulder.
He looked away, gulping quietly.
He knew exactly what it would be, but as a level-headed captain and son, he would make sure it never happened.
After practice, Saint stood in front of his locker and watched as Baby checked in on Rode again. He blamed it himself; if he hadn't attacked Rode, then Baby wouldn't have been standing there making sure Rode was fine.
"I'm really fine, Captain. You, however..." Rode paused and raised his hand to Baby's neck, touching the hickey Saint had left there right when he was exploding in Baby's hand.
"You seemed to have had a rough night. Tired?" Rode asked, teasing.
Baby stiffened, his eyes widening for a split second as he realised how he had gotten that hickey last night. His body suddenly felt hot, acutely aware of Saint's eyes on him.
"Nothing serious, just the usual," Baby said and steels away from Rode before he inquired more about the hickey.
"Take some pain relievers, just in case," he patted Rode's shoulder and walked over to his locker, ignoring Saint and his steel-grey eyes.
He knew things were going to get awkward, but he never knew it would be this awkward. He couldn't even bring himself to look Saint in the eyes, and if he continued this way, it would take be long until one of the guys starts to suspect something between them.
He had to act just as he used to.
He slammed his locker and turned to Siant, his eyes hard.
"Hey, Saint," His tone was arrogant, his brows cocked.
Saint was already looking at Baby even before he turned, he simply tilted his head, acknowledging his name.
Baby dug his nails in his palm to ground himself before he spoke, "What you did out there wasn't acceptable. It was just a practice, you didn't have to be your dick self just to prove your skills." He stated sternly.
"I support him, Saint. You're our captain, and we've accepted. But if you think you can bully us, then that is where we have to drop the respect and face you squarely. What you did wasn't acceptable, at all." Cam walked over, slinging his arm over Baby's shoulder and glaring at Saint.
Saint didn't let his face express any emotion, he lazily glanced at Cam, his eyes bored, "I heard Baby the first time. He didn't need a psychic for interpretation." He said, facing Baby now.
"Consequences, Baby. Everything has a consequence, let's just say, Rode was collateral damage." He nodded once and walked out of the locker room, ignoring the hateful glare Rode was sending his way.
"Arrogant bastard," Baby muttered.
He knew exactly what Saint meant, and he couldn't believe that he would be so petty as to act out because someone simply refused to speak to him.
"Arrogant indeed," Cam scoffed, rolling his eyes.
"Come on, Cam. We need to get to class," Baby said, frowning.
He walked out of the locker room, his mind filled with nothing but thoughts of Saint.
Baby wasn't in a hurry to get to class, he dreaded meeting Saint again. He could feel Cam looking at him weirdly, but he didn't care; he was going to keep walking slowly if it meant delaying the inevitable.
'What the fuck was I thinking? Kissing Saint! And touching his darned cock!'
He paused in the centre of the hallway and shut his eyes, firing his brain to shut off all thoughts of Saint. He was getting sick of replaying that scene over and over and over again.
He should really stop drinking, he no longer trusted his drunk self with Saint, nor did he trust a drunk Saint with himself.
'Wait, Saint was drunk, too, right?'
He suddenly snapped his eyes open and turned to Cam.
"Hello, sleepy head, that hungover?" Cam chuckled.
Baby shook his head, "I'm not that hungover, hey," He pulled Cam closer, lowering his face to whisper in his ear, "Last night, Saint was drunk, too, right?" He asked, glancing around to make sure no one heard his question.
Cam frowned, narrowing his eyes at Baby, "Why? What happened?" He asked, raising a suspicious brow.
"What happened? What could happen? Nothing, just answer my question," he muttered, darting his eyes around the hallway.
"I'm no baby, Baby, tell me now," He slowly started to corner Baby against a locker, narrowing his eyes as he pointed his finger at Baby's chest.
Baby was slowly starting to hyperventilate. He didn't know what to say; he wasn't prepared for Cam's sudden discovery.
"Cam, what are you talking about? I just asked a simple –"
"You two fought again, right?" Cam asked, poking Baby's chest.
Baby suddenly sighed in relief, his pulse slowing as he realised that Cam had no idea of what had happened last night.
He quickly masked up, scoffing and gently pushing Cam away from his front, "Well, we almost fought, but I guess we were too drunk to lift our hands. But, my mind was a bit blurry, I can't really tell if Saint was drunk or not so, did you see him drink at the party?" Baby asked, pushing his hands into his pockets.
"Hmm..." Cam tilted his head to the side and drummed his fingers on his chin as he thought deeply.
"No," Vam finally said, shaking his head at Baby, "Saint wasn't drunk, he spent his time following you like a fly and didn't touch a single alcohol –"
"Shit!" Baby suddenly exclaimed, startling Baby
"What?! Is Shannon coming?" Cam asked, gripping Baby's arm.
