Chapter 94 LET ME THINK ABOUT IT.
Chapter 94 LET ME THINK ABOUT IT.
KIMBERLY.
"You sure you don't want me to come over there and stick it to that disgusting bitch?"Cora asked for the umpteenth time.
I chortled, watching her pace to and fro in the room from the screen.
"Nah,I'm fine."I yawned, pulling the duvet up to myself.
She relaxed a little before settling down on the chair."Right. You looked like you've made peace with a lot of things already so I don't need to bother myself."
"Yeah."I mumbled, tucking my lips in."You're right, I did."I affirmed.
Her eyes gazed at me softly and I had to stifle a groan at how annoying the distance could be.
God. I want to see her so badly and hug her or do something.
"I miss you."I added, brushing my hair to the back before dipping my hand back into the duvet.
"Aw, baby. I miss you too."
"I wish you were here."
"You have Rafael."
I shook my head, exhaling."Nothing beats what we had."
And truthfully? Nothing truly did. Cora was everything, she still is and I didn't know what I would have done without her in my life.
"I love you, Kimberly Sloane."
"I love you too."I kept my voice as leveled as I could because I didn't want to spend my day crying.
Cora batted her unshed tears back and her eyes wandered around me particularly.
"Where's Rafael?"
"He went to make breakfast for us."
After making me come twice this morning. That man is so damned insatiable and I'm definitely in for all of it.
She gave me a shit eating stare."You're such a spoiled brat."
"He's not complaining."
"He can't. He loves you."She blurted.
My heart pricked a little and I know that at that moment, Cora was making innocent jokes but it stuck with me more than I expected.
Love. Is that possible? For Rafael to love me despite our differences? Considering our circumstances?
Is it even feasible to have someone love me and–
"Now,you're overthinking it."
"I'm not."I defended immediately but my voice was straight up weak.
"Kim–"
"Sorry, I just can't help it."I choked out, gulping down nothing in my throat.
"He's exactly where he wants to be."
"But,what if–"
"Keep your what ifs to yourself and try to enjoy this without fucking it up."
"Yeah."I huffed out.
The door creaked open gently behind me and I knew immediately that it was Rafael.
"Talk to you later."Cora winked mischievously and before I could protest, she had already ended the call.
The bed sank deeper behind me, causing me to turn to the ridiculously handsome man who looked ridiculously domesticated with the tray containing breakfast for me.
"Hey."He launched his head forward to grab a kiss before dropping what he was carrying on the bed.
"Hi."I blushed, raising my body up to him.
The duvet fell down my chest and I didn't realize it until his hand cupped my boobs.
"Jesus."I slapped his hand off, glaring at him.
"What?"Rafael shrugged, falling beside me.
"You're being clingy."
"Sorry I can't help it."He rolled his eyes, looking totally unapologetic.
"How did this happen?"I slipped out, sitting up properly.
Rafael did the same, staring at me keenly."What? Me being vocal about everything or–"
"Exactly. You were always closeted and...."I trailed off, huffing out loud.
Rafael gave me an understanding smile before letting his head fall into the crook of my neck.
"And living like that made me develop a shitty way of living."
"It. was. really. shitty."I laid emphasis on each word."God,I hated it."I laughed, shaking my head at how nervous I was around him.
From bantering and exchanging words to not saying anything to each other for days because we were trying too hard to keep it clean and plain between us.
"I do too, baby. Trust me, I do."He whispered, locking our lips together again.
"What are your plans for today?"I questioned, watching him spread the butter on my bread just the way I preferred.
"I was planning to talk to Rita with Baxter."He glanced at me before pushing the bread towards my lips.
Parting my mouth for it, I took a tiny bite and pressed my lips together."About that–"I sighed.
"Did she say something stupid–"
"Jesus, Rafael. Take a damn chill pill."
He breathes in deeply, nodding."Rita can be ridiculous sometimes."
"Guess that was why she told me that she won't watch the company get sold while she's still alive."I shrugged, taking a huge bite from my meal this time around because I was already starving.
Rafael brushed the smeared part of the corner of my mouth, saying nothing which rattled me instead.
"Okay, I don't appreciate your silence right now."
"I'm trying to figure out what to say."He confessed, dropping his hand down to the bed.
My eyes went up to his face and he looked genuinely torn, like someone who had a lot of shit to figure out.
Rafael knew how important it is for me to sell the company, he wanted to write it off as well, even his burning desire to do that was much more than mine but again, I'm afraid to admit that I understood his silence concerning this.
His mother built it from scratch. Everything that made the company blow out was her idea and selling it off would mean writing her off forever.
"I will sort it out with Rita, trust me."He assured me, trying to keep his conflicted self out of his expression but I knew him too well to not notice it.
"Actually–"I drawled, linking our hands together under the sheet.
"Yeah?"
"Can I go over this for sometime? I need to be sure of it all."
