Chapter 78 JEALOUS OR THAT GOOD AT FAKING IT?
KIMBERLY.
"It's all good, Rafael."I said, my eyes, darting.
It felt almost overwhelming hearing him out loud, saying he was grateful and acted like an asshole.
"Thank you."He closed his eyes for a moment, like he was trying to savor my words.
"We should go back to those we left hanging."I stuttered, suddenly feeling breathy.
He nodded in agreement.
"I will get them refreshments."I offered and started moving towards the fridge.
He suddenly caught me by my wrist, stealing the air from my lungs at the same time again.
"I will handle it."He said, still holding onto my arm.
I gulped down nothing and pressed my lips together as his touch still lingered more on me."Okay."I laughed nervously.
Rafael flinched immediately and pulled back like I burned."Oh, sorry."He muttered, giving me an ashy smile.
I nodded, tucking my hair to the back of my ears."I should go."I blabbed, pointing in the direction of the door.
God, I sound like a fool.
"Sure."He answered rather simply too.
Getting out, I stole a lungful of air in my nostrils and fanned myself quickly.
Knowing that Rafael would be out anytime soon, I hurriedly walked back to the living room to see the guests patiently waiting.
I cleared my throat to announce my presence, regretting how I shunned them earlier.
"Hi, I'm sorry I acted that way earlier, I was just–"I trailed off, sighing.
The lady among the men rose up to her feet and angled towards me."Trust me, we understand."She smiled gracefully, showing off her perfect dentition."Brides can be nervous when their wedding date starts getting closer."
"Oh, thanks."I said quickly, thankful that she made an excuse for me without me having to.
"Shall we get started?"Rafael's voice boomed behind me, causing me to almost jump out of my skin.
"Yeah, I think we can."I answered, sitting down at the chair closest to me, surprisingly, He also sat at the armrest, and his body hovered above mine.
I stared down at my lap bashfully, feeling so small.
"So, I don't think we've introduced ourselves properly."The lady started, and the two men straightened up.
"My name is Laura, and my colleagues."She pointed to a young man who looked like our age.
"I'm Shiloh."He said simply, giving me a practiced smile.
I smiled back at well.
"I'm Smith."The older man, introduced grinning."And she's my wife."He added, almost blushing.
Laura, who was already a bundle of puddles eyed her husband playfully."Sorry, he loved saying that to each of our clients."She glared at him, but we all know that she was full of shit.
A gutted feeling settled down my stomach as they bickered, a couple clearly in love planning a wedding for another who can't get themselves straight.
How pathetic.
I almost raised my head to look up at Rafael but fought against it so I wouldn't wane.
"You must really love her."Laura smiled more at both of us, snapping me out of our reverie.
"What?"I scoffed, my voice rising more than it should.
She gave me a weird look, I tightened my hand beside my sides.
"Oh, he was looking at you when we were introducing ourselves."She pointed out, her eyes darting between us both.
I looked up at Rafael who looked unabashed."Yeah, we do."Rafael said, his eyes not leaving me.
I smiled at him, suppressing the thumping of my chest before turning back to them."Yes, we do."I affirmed, but Shiloh was looking at us like he was thinking about something or he could see through our pretense.
"That's great then, let's talk about the theme of the wedding. Do you want Gothic?" She asked as she flipped out a picture of some dark halls and elements, I turned to Rafael with a frown and he shook his head as well.
"Okay."She laughed, pulling other themes ideas out for us.
And thankfully, the others looked good that I couldn't fish out the best ones.
"I love this."I giggled, raising the picture up for Rafael to see.
"Yeah, I do too."He agreed, taking it from me.
"Minimalism is good as well, we focus on making every detail count which means we have little time for preparation since the wedding is close."Smith buttressed the point and started scribbling some words in his jotter.
"Sorry, would that be a hassle for you? I can just change–"
"No, we can get it done."Laura chimed in, grinning."We make things work for our clients, not the other way around."
"Oh, sure."
"Shiloh will go through the food preparations with you." Laura said, stepping back.
"He's a chef?"Rafael asked in a skeptical tone.
Both men gave each other a hard look and I stared at them in confusion.
"Yes, a Michelin star chef at that." Laura said dramatically, taking her seat beside her husband.
"A half star?" Rafael threw back, causing me to whip my head up at him.
He gave me a shrug before taking his eyes back to Shiloh whose frown has deepened.
"What's wrong with you?"I mouthed discreetly, but he ignored me like he was avoiding my scolding.
"A three star."Shiloh growled in a low tone, and raised his upper body up the chair.
"Okay."Rafael said cynically.
I gave Shiloh an apologetic look and glared at Rafael instead.
"I think we should talk about how the food should be onboard with the themes we will be choosing."
"It has to align?"I asked, slightly shocked.
"Yes, so it can match the aesthetics–"
"We just want people to enjoy themselves while they watch us seal the vows, it doesn't have to match, you have to make it work."Rafael chipped in, folding his arms.
The usual smile on Laura's face wore off a little."But–"
"We make things work for our clients, not the other way around."Rafael quoted what she said in a begrudging tone.
"Are we going to continue going back and forth with the preparation or actually get something done?"Shiloh grumbled with a displeasing look.
"Maybe if you stop staring at my wife, we will get to that."Rafael snarled, getting off the armrest where he was sitting.
We all gasped in shock as we stared at the two men, ready to tear each other down.
Shiloh scoffed, looking flabbergasted for the first time in the evening. "Staring at your wife? I didn't do–"
"Oh, you want me to pull the fucking cameras out you asshole?"Rafael snarled, his chest rose heavily as he talked.
"Rafael."I called, standing up to him, still in shock."What do you think you're doing?"I asked, nudging him with my body backwards.
He cursed under his breath before gazing at them squarely, his eyes spitting fury."We will not be using your service, you trio can have a nice day if your perverted employee allows that."
