Chapter 1

Tonight I’m killing you George shouted. Melissa was laying on the floor bleeding. George punched her in the face and kicked her ribs and stomach. Melissa was used to being beaten up but she was sure that tonight was going to be the last of her. George took off his belt and started beating her with it until he was tired. Melissa’s screams was not new to him anymore.

I told you to be done with my food when I get home he shouted. But no you run for classes that’s stupid, you will never become an architect. You are too dump for that he continued. You will never leave this house again, let me find some rope to tie you up till you die.

Melissa was lying on the floor bleeding while her two children was crying in one corner of the kitchen, and that motivated her to get up after he left the room to fetch a rope. Melissa struggled but finally she got up and ran outside the kitchen door with the kids. She couldn’t move fast but because George was drunk he fell on the steps outside the kitchen door.

I will kill you when I lay my hands on you again. Bring my kids back now you useless woman.

Mel ran with her kids but her body was giving in. There’s a park a couple of blocks away and that was the ideal place to go sit Melissa thought. Not knowing where they going to sleep tonight but she was not taking her kids back to that house ever again. Melissa and the kids sat close to each other to keep warm but the pain become unbearable. Mommy I’m cold and hungry Cindy complained. Melissa got distracted by her ringing phone in her pocket, she saw it was Ally her only friend. Her body got weaker and weaker but she was determined to speak to someone.

Ally George beat me up badly, I’m in pain please help me, Melissa says without giving Ally a chance to speak. I don’t know what to do, I’m sitting in a dark park with my kids and it’s getting cold she continues again very weak.

Which park Mel? Ally ask.

Melissa gave directions but felt weaker and fainted. Ally could hear the kids crying on the other side of the phone and was fearing for the worse. She made her way to her car and started driving. The Navigator in her car was her only hope now. All she knew was that she needed to get to her best friend and her kids now. Fear of not seeing Melissa alive again took Ally’s thoughts over and she drove faster. The park was dark and scary but she was not scared as her friend’s wellbeing was all she had on her mind. She got out of the car and started calling Melissa, but got no reply. She suddenly heard cries not far from where she was and quickly made her way over. Ally was totally shocked to at the discovery she made.
