Chapter 131 She loved him, and she was not ready to lose him.
The company building was louder than usual, even though it was already midday. Most of the employees had stepped out of their offices, heading toward lunch, their voices filling the hallway with light chatter.
As always, the cafeteria became their escape, a place where they could relax for a while before going back to work. But Dominic was not among them.
He remained inside his office, surrounded by files that kept piling up on his desk. He kept his eyes on the paperwork, flipping through pages as if nothing outside that room mattered.
A knock came at the door. It broke his focus, and annoyance crossed his face. He did not like interruptions, especially when he was trying to finish something.
“Come in,” he said.
The door opened. Dominic looked up and paused.
“Jessie?” he said, confusion clear in his voice.
She walked in without hesitation, closing the door behind her. The sound of the lock closing felt too loud in the quiet room.
Dominic watched her closely. Jessie moved toward him, her hips swaying in a way that made her intention clear. She took her time, making sure he noticed every step.
“You work too much,” she said as she climbed onto his desk.
Before he could react, she pushed his files aside and made space for herself. Then she sat right in front of him, placing herself where he could not ignore her.
“It is already lunch time,” she said, leaning slightly forward. “Why not take a break?”
Dominic said nothing. He kept looking at her. Jessie adjusted her position and slowly parted her legs just enough for him to see what she wanted him to see.
“Do you not want to eat?” she asked again, her tone playful.
She reached for his hand and guided it to her thigh.
“Try this instead,” she said softly. “You will like it.”
A curse formed in Dominic’s mind. His body moved before his mind could catch up.
Jessie leaned back on the desk, lowering herself as if she had nothing to hide. She opened her legs wider, making it impossible for him to look away.
“Come on,” she said. “This is better than any lunch you could get.” Dominic’s gaze darkened.
His hand moved along her leg, slowly sliding higher until there was nothing between his touch and her skin. When his fingers reached her most sensitive place, he paused for a moment and looked at her face.
Jessie closed her eyes, her breathing growing uneven as she felt him.
“Dominic,” she said, her voice low and impatient. “You know I am better, do not you?”
He did not respond.
His thoughts went quiet, caught between desire and something he refused to face.
Jessie lifted her head slightly, supporting herself with her arms.
“What is wrong?” she asked. “This is yours. Stop staring and enjoy it…”
Knock. Knock. Knock.
The sudden sound shattered the moment. Dominic pulled his hand back at once and stood up.
Panic showed on his face for a second. He grabbed Jessie and helped her off the desk, moving quickly.
Jessie looked around, searching for somewhere to hide, but there was nowhere.
The knocking did not stop.
“Sit down,” Dominic said, handing her a file. “Act like you are reading.”
Jessie took it and sat properly, forcing herself to look calm. Dominic walked to the door, unlocked it, and opened it. His secretary stood outside, her expression slightly uncertain.
“What is it?” Dominic asked, trying to sound normal.
“Sir… your wife is here. She is downstairs.”
“What?” Dominic said, louder than he meant to.
The secretary frowned a little. Her eyes moved past him for a second, catching sight of Jessie inside the office. She recognized her.
Jessie used to come here often before everything changed. Something about the moment did not sit right with her, but she kept quiet. Dominic noticed her look and frowned. “Why are you looking like that?”
“I am sorry, sir,” she said quickly. “What should I do?”
Dominic paused, thinking.
“Let Aria come up.”
She nodded and turned to leave. But before she could walk far, the office door opened again. Jessie stepped out in a hurry. The secretary stopped.
“You still have not changed, have you?” she said. “Still acting like a cheap woman.”
Jessie stopped walking.
She turned slowly. “What did you just call me?” She moved closer, anger rising in her eyes.
Without warning, she slapped the secretary.
“Watch your mouth,” Jessie said.
The secretary did not hold back. She slapped Jessie back, harder this time, making her lose her balance.
“You think I do not remember who you are?” she said, her voice filled with anger. “You ruin people and walk away like it means nothing. You destroyed my sister’s life. And now you are back, trying to ruin someone else’s marriage?”
Jessie’s eyes burned, but she said nothing.
“Stay away from him,” the secretary continued. “Or you will regret it.”
A voice interrupted them.
“Excuse me.”
They both turned. Aria stood there, looking between them with surprise.
“Jessie?” she said. “What are you doing here?”
The secretary stepped in quickly. “She has something to discuss with me.”
Aria nodded without suspicion.
“I will go inside,” she said before walking past them.
Jessie and the secretary looked at each other one last time.
“You got lucky today,” the secretary said quietly.
Jessie clenched her jaw, then walked away without another word.
Inside the office, Dominic forced a smile when Aria walked in.
“Hey,” he said, pulling her close. “Have you eaten?”
She shook her head. “What about you?”
“Not yet,” he said. “Still working.”
He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer. “But I might just eat you instead.”
He lowered his lips to her neck.
Aria stopped him gently.
“You should eat first,” she said. “You will not have the energy if you start with me.”
Dominic laughed softly.
He kissed her lips. “You know me too well.”
She smiled and lifted a bag.
“I brought food,” she said. “We can eat here.”
Dominic looked pleased. “You are the perfect wife.”
She smiled again, but her thoughts were somewhere else.
The image of Jessie with her husband would not leave her mind. Was that all love meant to him?
Just desire? If someone else could give him more, would he leave? A quiet fear grew inside her, and she could not push it away.
She loved him, and she was not ready to lose him. Not to anyone. Not to Jessie. Not to anyone at all.
