Chapter 76
Golem POV.
Just as the men chanted and charged forward, Isadora took a step along with them, ready for battle. However, I felt a weight in my chest, the thought of Anastasia haunting me. I pulled her back, knowing I needed to address this before the battle consumed us.
"My love, we need to talk," I said, my voice carrying the urgency of the matter.
Isadora glared at me, her hatred for Leonardis burning in her eyes. I could feel the intensity of her emotions, and I knew I had to let her in on the truth. She responded impatiently, "What about, baby? Can't it wait until we're done with the battle?"
I shook my head, the burden too heavy to postpone. "It's kind of urgent, if you don't mind."
Isadora sighed, casting a quick glance at the charging men. "Fine, but make it quick baby, we have the north to destroy."
I stared into her eyes, and there was no way I was going to reveal the truth, not with that expression on her face. She didn't seem ready to hear it. So instead, I shifted the topic to something that might fuel her determination.
Faking a malicious glint in my eyes, I said, "When you lay your hands on him, make sure he begs for his life. Leonardis will regret the day he decided to cross our path."
Isadora's eyes lit up with a fiery determination. "Oh, I intend to make him suffer for everything he's done. There won't be any mercy, not after what he did to Cassandra, Matamoros and the others."
I nodded, redirecting her focus to the battle ahead. "Let's focus on this fight for now. We'll deal with the rest afterward."
With that, I shifted into my dragon form, and Isadora hopped on my back. This was the formation we were using, given the advantage of having more dragon warriors than the remaining Southern warriors. Each dragon warrior carried a Southern warrior on their back until we arrived at the battlefield.
After a few minutes in flight, we finally reached the North, where everyday activities were going on as normal. We hovered above, surrounding it from every end, leaving no room for escape. The Southern warriors waited for my command before jumping down from the back of the dragons and shifting into their wolf forms.
I stealthily flew closer to the castle, aiming to get a closer look at Leonardis's exact position. Following Isadora's direction, I approached a window where someone was taking a shower. Suddenly, I locked eyes with Leonardis.
He screamed at the top of his voice, "Somebody ring the bell, dragons have invaded us!"
With that, I released a huge breath of fire, blasting through the walls and setting a part of his castle ablaze, luckily Leonardis ducked down just in time. Then, I unleashed a mighty roar, signaling the Southern warriors to jump down from my dragon warriors, shifting into their wolf forms.
In the midst of the chaos, Leonardis's panicked voice echoed, "Who dares attack my castle?"
I landed, on his balcony shifting back into my human form, Isadora gracefully dismounting from my back. She smirked, "The King who doesn't forgive, the King who seeks justice. Ready to face your fate, Leonardis?"
He sneered, "You'll regret crossing me, Golem."
I shot back with a determined glare, "Regret will be the least of your concerns."
Leonardis shared a quick glance across Isadora and me, taking careful steps backward as he said, "I don't understand your problem, Golem. This has nothing to do with you. My problem is with her." He pointed in Isadora's direction.
Isadora smirked, mocking him, "What is that I smell? Could it be fear?" She gave Leonardis a venomous look, but he didn't take his gaze away from me.
I took gentle steps forward toward him, replying, "If she's your enemy, then that makes you my enemy too."
Leonardis swallowed hard, saying, "You're going to cause a war all because of some romp with a whore who's not even a virgin."
Isadora, fueled by anger, grabbed a piece of broken glass and launched it at Leonardis, aiming for his throat. She thundered, "It's your mother who's a whore!" Leonardis swiftly dodged it, looking at Isadora with a smirk, "You don't like hearing the truth about your past, do you? But a whore would always be a whore."
I thundered, "Enough! Absolutely no one speaks to my mate like that." With that, I shifted back into my dragon form, ready to unleash a rain of consuming fire upon Leonardis.
With fear and uncertainty in his eyes, he still managed to find the confidence to show me the middle finger, saying, "To hell with you and your mate."
I didn't hold back; I unleashed a relentless breath of consuming fire like a storm upon him. The flames roared, consuming everything in their path.
After a few minutes of continuous breath of fire, I finally stopped, expecting to see Leonardis reduced to ashes. To my surprise, as soon as the smoke cleared, he stood there untouched, wearing a smirk on his face, with all his clothes burnt off.
I took a few steps backward, stunned by the unexpected outcome. Leonardis remained unscathed, and my disbelief turned into awe. Suddenly, an old man appeared, dressed in a white robe with a white beard, throwing Isadora and me off balance. She ran to my back, fear in her eyes, uttering the words, "The White Wizard, be careful, my love. He's dangerous."
Before I could respond, the man threw black dust at my face, and darkness slowly consumed my vision.
Losing my patience, I tried to unleash another storm of fire upon them, but nothing came out of my mouth but smoke. I attempted to move my body, change back to my human form, but it was impossible. I muttered to myself, realizing it was dark magic – a charm stronger than any I had encountered before.
The old man laughed, mocking saying "The once-invulnerable King of Dragons". He continued, "You arrogant King, you think you're invincible. Well, guess what? Everyone has their own weaknesses."
Leonardis, now slowly approaching Isadora who was trapped, grabbed her by the neck and dragged her in front of me.
Panicking, I desperately tried to regain control of my dragon. I had no idea how to break out of this powerful spell; it was my first encounter with a charm of this magnitude.
Leonardis mocked further, pulling out a silver blade and pressing it against Isadora's neck, causing blood to drip slowly. He said, "What's the best way to kill a whore? With a blade or..." He paused for a moment his eyes locked on Isadora's and continued saying "You don't deserve to die by my blade, isadora, I will do it with my fist instead." With that, he threw the blade backward, the blood on it spilling on me, as soon as the droplet of blood made contact with my skin. A surge of power, like that of a million suns, passed through my chest, and my eyes turned red.
The White Wizard yelled, "No, Leonardis, that's a..."
Before he could finish the sentence, I unleashed a furious storm of fire that consumed everything in its path, including the white wizard. The flames roared, fueled by a rage more intense than ever before.
