Lucinda, Again

Lucinda, Again

Ryan's POV

My wife made me realize I had a heart, and sometimes it pissed me off. Keyword: Sometimes.

Shit happened. Lucinda, my step mom. I haven't seen my father for the longest time, and genuinely I never want to see him again, likewise Lucinda, too bad I wasn't getting what I wanted.

She had an issue and needed to be rushed in for surgery. They were penniless, and I had to be reached out to help. It wasn't ideal, but I didn't know what to do.

My wife just confirmed her pregnancy days ago and I've been all over the moon, only to be hit with this. All I wanted to do was to be around her at times like this. She's made me happy, a fulfilled man.

It could be a son or a daughter, and sometimes I got teary in the bathroom. She had applied for ante natal and I had to be understanding of her movement in the house, believing that she wouldn't trip or anything.

Hearing the news at the office pissed me off, but I couldn't stomach Lucinda passing away. I wanted her to remain alive to keep suffering in jail, at least her freedom was contained there and she wasn't up to uncultured shit.

I dreaded having to tell my wife, but I had no plans to lie to her. The only thing that kept me sane was the fact that the wedding preparations were fast moving. We even had a date set. We had already picked out her wedding dress, my own attire for the day, the hall, everything.

All that was left was deciding on the right people to come, the food and other stuff. We moved it up due to her pregnancy since it was still in its early stages.

I headed straight home and she wasn't in bed like I expected her to, resting. I must've passed her because I went back downstairs to meet her in the kitchen, and in the most shocking set up.

She has earphones on, and she seemed really engrossed in what she was doing with a laptop. I wasn't having it. I almost lost my cool when I approached her and saw what she was actually doing.

“What's that?” I asked, looking into the laptop. She barely noticed my presence still, until I tapped her a bit. She jerked in fright a little before realizing it's me.

“You scared me. Welcome back babe.”

When I didn't reply because I really was too stunned to speak, she began to explain herself as we both stared at what she was doing. It seemed like some website.

“Oh, a business. A business of mine.” She laughed nervously, and that's when I knew she had no intention of telling me about it.

“A business?” I repeated, but as a question. How in hell?

“Yeah, I have one.” She shrugged her shoulders like it was nothing, but all it did was make me boil. I work my ass off to make sure she never ever has to lift a finger, so what the hell?

“And you didn't tell me?”

“Well..”

“While I'm here, alive and well, you're working?” She rolled her eyes at me like she was sick of my complaints.

“And that's exactly why I didn't tell you, okay?”

“You do realize you're pregnant, right?”

“Hey! Someone could hear!”

She hit me, looking around. No one knew we were already married or that she was pregnant with my child.

“I don't care about that right now! I want my wife to be fine!”

“And I am okay, relax. When did you get back?”

She had a way of making me shut the hell up. My shoulders relaxed by force. I had to be understanding.

“Just now. I have something to tell you.”

“Can it wait? I'm very exhausted and my feet hurt.”

“This is why I don't approve of you doing any work. Can you now see how this is affecting me? I'm worried.”

“If you're so worried, tuck me in or something.”

“I'm assuming you've been waiting for me to come back so I'll carry you upstairs.”

She turned to face me finally, and assaulted me with her features. It came as a shocking wave, and I swallowed. She looked so beautiful. Sometimes looking at her was lethal.

I tried to steady my breathing.

“Precisely!” She smiled and shut down her laptop.

“What are you waiting for?” I picked her up in bridal style then took her to bed. After tucking her in, she slept soundly.

Crazy how I was getting used to this woman controlling me, no I was enjoying it. I had always been in control but maybe being controlled wasn't so bad too.

In the dead of the night, I woke up to her kisses all over my face.

I pulled her up so she would properly be on top.

“Hey. Want me to take care of you?” I asked. There was nothing I enjoyed more than fulfilling her demanding sexual needs.
But she shook her head.

“No, I'm good. Tell me what you wanted to tell me. You said you had something to say.”

Lucinda. I swallowed just at the thought of letting the words come out of my mouth.

“Yeah, right. I did. I don't know how you're going to take this…”

“Well, try me.” She sounded comfortable.

“It's about Lucinda.”

“Oh.” She shifted on top of me, seemingly affected and a bit less…comfortable. Shit.

“Should I keep going?”

“Yeah.”

“She needs urgent medical attention. She's very sick. I was wondering if you'd let me take care of her, then send her back to prison after?”

She raised herself up and rested her elbows on my chest, looking at me with a shocked expression on her face.

“Are you kidding?”

I shook my head.

“Am I some devil? So you're telling me that if I say no, you'll leave her to die? Why even ask me that? Stop showing me how hopeless you've become with me. I don't own you. I want mean Ryan to come back. School me, dominate me. Should I remind you that you're behaving like a pussy?”

“Damn. I do hate acting like a pussy.” I couldn't help but smile as she spoke. I'm so fulfilled and in love, fuck.
She continued on.

“I'm so proud of you and your decisions. You don't have to ask. I'll never be mad at you. I'm not the one she hurt much, it's you. You're doing something really big and really great and no matter what, you have my full support. Please take care of her, but still never forget what she did to us. Proceed with caution.”

“Thank you wifey. I will.”

“I'm guessing that's all?”

“Yup. That's all.” She lowered herself on top of me again, then she made circles across my chest with her fingers in a soothing way that made me doze right away.

The next day, I headed to the hospital to see Lucinda as she was brought right from jail. I didn't want Alana to come with me, or concern herself with this case, I just wanted her permission because we are one now.

Lucinda looked pale, but still beautiful in her own way. But she wasn't sharp tongued. She was rather weak, and she looked like she was having the worst time being confined to a tiny space.

Her illness really did a solid on her.

They were actually yet to operate on her because I hadn't given them the go ahead before now. She looked up and saw me, then frowned.

“So you eventually came.” She said, grumpy, and I wondered why she looked mad when she clearly didn't have the liberty or the right to even do so. Still, I tried to be patient. At least my heart understood that she needed help even after everything.

“Yes. You look terrible. What happened?”

“Oh now you want to act like you care? After you and that bitch sent me to jail?”

“That bitch in question is my wife, and she's the only reason I'm here to help you. If she had refused, I would've let go of my morals or simply ignored them and watched you die, because you're of no use to me.” I needed to remind myself that I was ruthless anyway.

I gauged her reaction. She was surprised but tried to hide it.

“Then you should know that I'm not grateful. Did you say wife? You eventually got married to her?”

Of course she wasn't grateful. I wasn't even expecting her to as she barely had it in her.

“Yes.” She gave me a weird look, like she didn't believe me.

“But it's not on the news. I would've heard about it if you're telling the truth.”

“Well, sounds like a personal problem of yours. You still have the energy to behave like a fucking hag. Maybe I should remove my hands–”

“No wait. Let's say I'm sorry. I don't care if you believe me or not but I've said it. So do what you have to do.” If that was a poor attempt at an apology then I was going to take it.

“I will.”

Soon they moved her to the theatre and she had a successful surgery. I paid for everything and was told that in a couple of weeks time, she'll be fine and will return back to prison. She would also be watched twenty four hours so she wouldn't escape.

She was still unconscious when I saw her, and I genuinely couldn't believe everything we went through together. And now she was just there, helpless, at my mercy. It showed how much I had grown with the help of my wife. I'll forever be grateful to her.
