Chapter - 121

Chapter - 121
A few seconds later everything stilled as I didn't hear from him nor did I feel his grip on my jaw. I touched my jaw to witness any bruises but there were none on it.

"Aadhya." I heard Kartik's voice from outside.

I ran into the hallway from my bedroom but the moment I reached the exit the huge doors were shut on my face making everything dark. I tried to open the door by pulling the handles but they did not budge.

"You like watching me in pain for killing your parents, didn't you?" I heard his voice clearly and moved to the window next to the door to face him.

He stood there without his gun or the fire log in his hand as the attackers marched towards him. I cried aloud while hitting the iron rods on the window in an attempt to reach him. "I am sorry, Kartik. Please get inside and hold me close to you. Please, don't go away from me."

"Why are you crying, Aadhya? You should be smiling as you can marry Darsh once I am not a problem in your life, right? Where is your smile?" He questioned with a serious face as his abdomen bled through his clothes.

"I can't be happy seeing you hurt, Kartik. I want you to be strong and safe." I cried helplessly.

"Why?"

I got frustrated with his continuous questioning and I yelled, "Because I can't live without you, Kartik!"

He smirked. "Then watch me die, Aadhya. That is your punishment. You don't deserve me, backstabber."

The attacker came closer to Kartik but his eyes did not leave me. The attacker stabbed Kartik in his chest with their dangerously carved knife tearing his flesh and letting him bleed to death.

"Kartik," I shouted. I was breathing rapidly and was drenched in my sweat.

I looked around to see that I am still in my room and it was just a nightmare. A horrible one actually.

I tried to wet my parched throat with some water next to the bed on the table but could not hold the glass as my fingers still shivered.

The sound of the glass clacking against the floor brought the soldier's attention and Anupama walked inside my room. She helped me to sit upright and filled the glass of water while bringing it closer to my lips. The cool water calmed my nerves down and I was able to breathe normally.

"Princess, it's better if you go to the mansion. It's already four days since you are here without a wink of a sleep and proper meal." She suggested.

"Kartik. How is he? Did he wake up?" I questioned her ignoring her words.

"I reported to you, just a few minutes ago, Princess. He is still under doctor's observation. You have to sleep or else you will start hallucinating." She said with a frown on her forehead.

"I want to see Kartik. I want to see him right now. I can't tolerate it, Anupama." I cried hitting the pillows with my hands and legs creating a mess around me.

"Princess. Please calm down. You have to go to the mansion and have a good sleep." She said once again irritating me.

"Get out!" I yelled at her. "Nobody knows what I want only he can calm me. I want Kartik right now. I want to see him." I threw the pillows, water jug, blanket and everything in my reach and chased them away from my room.

"Kartik, please hold me." I sobbed into the cold pillow. "Everything is ugly without you."

I drifted into a night of sleep once again like I have been doing all these days. I would close my eyes but immediately would wake up with a nightmare creating a fear in my heart. Even while I was in Kartik's room I did not feel like I was caged as I always felt free. But now without him, everything is suffocating me.

I stood up from the bed and accidentally fell on the cold marble floor. I winced in pain but lay there throwing my hands and legs to my sides and staring at the ceiling while my eyes leaked tears.

All my nightmares had one thing in common; my fear of losing Kartik.

But why? Why can't I live without him? Why is his well-being affecting me? Why does it pains to see him hurt?

Am I in... I didn't even have any strength to complete those words. I bit my lips as the same doubt arose once again and began playing like a song in a loop.

Am I in love with Kartik?
