Chapter 113 Be My Date

Chapter 113 Be My Date

A white Panamera sat quietly at the main entrance.

Leaning against the car was a refined and tall figure.

Robert?

He wore a casual white shirt and black fitted trousers, without his glasses.

But he looked somewhat haggard, with faint dark circles under his eyes, and a cut at the corner of his mouth that had scabbed over but was still quite noticeable.

The moment he saw Isabella, he immediately straightened up, his gentle eyes showing undisguised worry and concern.

Isabella's steps came to an abrupt halt.

The scenes from last night at the bar flashed through her mind again, followed by an indescribable wave of embarrassment and awkwardness that instantly overwhelmed her.

She had almost... with him... And the injury on his face seemed to be because of her, too.

That lunatic Terry would do anything when he went crazy.

She instinctively wanted to turn around and leave from another direction. In her current state, she really didn't want to be seen by anyone, especially him.

"Isabella!"

But Robert quickly caught up and blocked her path. "Your body hasn't fully recovered yet. How can you run around like this?" His voice was full of concern. "I asked Sarah and found out Terry took you away. Are you okay?"

Looking at her pale face and swollen lips, a flash of pain crossed his eyes, though he controlled it well.

Isabella's mind was in complete chaos. She didn't know how to face him.

She thought she should be honest with him, tell him what happened last night. She couldn't let him have any more illusions about her.

"Robert, I..." She took a deep breath, gathering her courage, about to speak.

"I already know." Robert suddenly interrupted her, speaking in an extremely gentle tone.

Isabella froze.

He... he knew?

"Don't overthink it." Robert seemed to see through her thoughts and smiled gently, proactively changing the subject. "I'm just worried about you. You drank so much last night, you must be feeling terrible today, right? I've prepared hangover soup and breakfast at a nearby resort. Come with me to eat something first, then I'll take you back. Oliver and Amelia are still waiting for you."

His consideration and gentleness now formed the sharpest contrast with Terry's roughness and dominance.

Isabella's heart felt like something had gently bumped it, sour and bitter.

Looking at the wound at the corner of Robert's mouth that was there because of her, she was filled with guilt.

"Robert, I'm sorry..."

"What are you sorry for?" Robert raised his hand, wanting to ruffle her hair like before, but stopped halfway, finally just gently resting it on her shoulder.

"It's not your fault. Last night, I... couldn't control myself. I had a bit too much to drink. The one who should apologize is me." As he said this, his eyes dimmed slightly.

Then he recovered his usual demeanor and asked with a smile, "By the way, I haven't asked you yet. This weekend, my family is having a family dinner, and I need a dance partner. I wonder if I have the honor of inviting you to be my date?"

He used a half-joking tone that instantly dissolved all the awkwardness.

Looking at the sincere invitation in his eyes and that careful hope, Isabella couldn't bring herself to refuse.

Perhaps she also needed an opportunity to completely cut off the messy relationship with Terry.

And Robert was undoubtedly the best shield.

She needed to announce to everyone, especially to Terry, that she, Isabella, was not someone he could control at will.

And between them, it was impossible now.

With this thought, she somehow nodded and said softly, "Okay."

Hearing her agree, the smile in his eyes was gentle and genuine, yet he tried hard to restrain it.

He just looked at her more deeply, his voice warmer than before: "Then... It's settled."

"It's settled." Isabella returned a faint smile.

"Come on, let's go have breakfast." Robert naturally opened the car door for her, his movements extremely gentlemanly. "I'll go up with you to eat something and have some hot soup. Your stomach will feel much better."

Isabella didn't refuse. Right now, she really needed to replenish her energy and needed a quiet place to sort out her chaotic thoughts.

She was worried about bringing negative emotions to the children. Oliver and Amelia must still be waiting for her to return.

Near Grand Summit Resort, there was another resort called Inkstone Manor.

It was a revolving restaurant. The morning sunlight streamed through the huge glass curtain walls, coating the entire restaurant with a golden glow.

Robert ordered some light food for her.

He only had someone bring him a cup of black coffee.

Isabella looked at the wound at the corner of his mouth and couldn't help but speak. "Your injury, aren't you going to treat it?"

"It's just a minor injury, nothing serious." Robert smiled nonchalantly. "Don't forget, I'm also a doctor. I can handle this small injury myself. But you, it looks like you definitely didn't rest well last night."

There wasn't a trace of probing in his words, only pure concern, which made Isabella's tense nerves relax a bit.

She lowered her head, stirring the oatmeal in her bowl with a small spoon. The rising steam blurred her vision and also concealed the emotions that flashed through her eyes.

Just then, a clear and cheerful laugh came from not far away, breaking the restaurant's tranquility.

"You guys are really something, dragging me to this kind of place for breakfast. I'm telling you, it would be more practical to just go get a sandwich!"

A girl wearing a pink Descente athletic outfit with her hair in a high ponytail, looking full of energy, was being surrounded by several fashionably dressed friends as they walked in.

She had bright features, a tall figure, and radiated an unpretentious friendliness.

Isabella just glanced casually and didn't pay much attention.

But when Robert saw the girl, his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.

"Robert?" The girl also spotted him, her eyes lighting up. She immediately left her friends and ran over in a few steps, then unceremoniously plopped down in the empty seat next to them, even reaching out to punch Robert's shoulder like a buddy.

"Isabella? You're here too! What a coincidence, it's fate!"

The girl's voice was crisp, with a kind of casual familiarity. It was Claire...

Isabella's hand paused slightly, then she returned a smile.

Robert was somewhat surprised: "Claire, you two know each other?"
