She woke up sweating, only to find herself pressed tightly against Justin’s chest. No wonder she was so warm–he had her completely wrapped in
his arms.
Carefully, Edith tried to wriggle free without waking him. She was just about to slip out of bed when an arm snaked around her waist from
behind.
She let out a muffled gasp as she tumbled back onto the bed.
In no time, Justin rolled over, pinning her beneath him. Their eyes met. “Where do you think you’re going?” he murmured.
Edith pointed toward the bathroom. “I just need a shower. I’m all sticky
with sweat…”
Justin’s lips curled up. “Perfect timing. Let’s take care of our business first–otherwise, you’ll just need another shower after.”
Business?
What business?
Edith blinked in confusion, but Justin’s actions made his intentions perfectly clear.
He showered her with kisses so intense she could hardly catch her
breath.
She tried to slip her arm between them, to create a bit of space, but they were tangled too closely for that. Justin’s lips grazed her ear, his voice low and magnetic. “Hold me.”
Almost involuntarily, Edith’s arms slid around his waist.
Justin seemed pleased by her response; a satisfied smile played at the corners of his mouth.
His voice, smooth as velvet, sent shivers down her neck.

Edith frowned slightly, taking a few moments to adjust. Something about. Justin felt off this morning–like he was carrying around a storm of pent–up frustration.
But who had gotten under his skin?
She thought back over the previous night. Surely it wasn’t her–she’d already been fast asleep by the time he got home.
They carried on from dawn nearly until midday before Justin finally showed signs of stopping. Edith was utterly spent.
She pleaded for mercy, and only then did he relent.
Latonia’s voice echoed from outside the bedroom, breaking through the
haze of their labored breaths.
“Sir, ma’am, Attorney Grant is here.”
Edith’s mind was still mush from all the commotion, so before she could process anything, Justin scooped her up in his arms.
He strolled toward the bathroom, calling back over his shoulder, “Have him wait in the living room. Tell him Mrs. Hawksley and I are in the
shower.”
Edith lay against Justin’s chest, listening to his heart pounding strong and steady. He was always so full of energy.
She was too tired to even stand, so Justin took care of her–running the water, washing her hair, toweling her dry. She barely had to move a
muscle.
Their bedroom led directly into the walk–in closet.
Once she was dry, Justin carried her straight there. “Pick something to wear,” he said.
Edith felt a little self–conscious–being carried around with nothing on in

broad daylight wasn’t exactly her idea of dignity.
She wriggled. “Put me down. I can choose for myself.”
Justin set her gently on the plush carpet. Barefoot, she chose a white dress that caught her eye.
She’d loved wearing white ever since she was a little girl. This one was a bit low–cut, but she liked it anyway.
Just as she was about to slip it on, Justin stopped her and handed her a cream–colored dress instead. “Wear this one.”
Edith wasn’t picky, so she didn’t argue. She quickly changed into the dress Justin had chosen.
As soon as she was dressed, Justin stepped in front of her, leaned down, and pressed a quick kiss to her collarbone, leaving behind a tiny mark.
He moved so fast that Edith barely realized what had happened, let alone why he’d done it.
