CHAPTER THIRTEEN

ALPHA XAVIER'S POV.

"I think she's up to something bad." I said to Imelda but she wasn't surprised at all.

I expected to see shock on her face but the shock she showed up was one that confirmed her curiosity.

The shock I saw was the one that I wasn't expecting.

"I knew it!!!." She yelled as she stared at me wide eyed, her eyes bulging out like they would pop out of its socket.

"What do you know?." I asked feigning ignorance yet again so as to know what was on her mind. One thing I know is that my love was quite a witty one.

"Oh come on. You think you're the only one that questions why my mother finally returns as a confident Alpha after leaving for years." She stated and I couldn't help but admire her strategic mind.

Not every one, let alone a woman would be able to think so fast and swift, Imelda indeed amazes me.

"Wow, my mate has really got some quick wits." I complimented and she blushed.

"Thank you!." She said doing that little bow like courtesy.

I flashed her a smile and her face turned red.

"So what do you intend to do?." She asked, facing me with all seriousness she could muster.

"I don't know, but I think we are not supposed to act rash. If we are to find out what your mother is up to, we have to play along." I suggested and she nodded her head in agreement.

"But we have to act fast, it's pretty slick isn't it?." She asked as she wobbled her head.

"The only thing that is slick is the fact that none of you trusts me, including you Imelda." I heard Alpha Lena's voice from behind as her footsteps approached us.

I and Imelda turned in sync as I gave her that scrutinizing look suspiciously.

"Are you….are you actually spying on us?." Imelda asked as she glared at her mother.

"I wouldn't exactly call it spying. I was looking for Xavier when I heard voices in this room, turns out I'm the topic of discussion." She answered in a tone of disgust.

If that was the disgust I heard in her voice, then I'll have to ask what she's disgusted by.

"Don't think of yourself as so highly important that you're used as the topic of discussion, your presence itself is very suspicious." Imelda concurred matching glare for glare.

The kind of killer vibes that this mother and daughter were emitting now would be able to kill a demon itself. The room was getting hotter even for me as an Alpha….Not over emphasizing things though.

"Don't talk to me like that!! I am your mother!." Imelda's mother yelled in a loud voice as she tried in vain to mask her anger.

"Oh really! The only thing I remember is that you're the woman who was exiled and then returns out of the shadows claiming to help me while the mischievous is all there in your eyes. Why didn't you return before now, Alpha Lena?." Imelda growled as her claws popped out while the veins were visible on her neck.

"I had my plans!." She yelped and I could see a coy smile appear at the corner of her mouth.

"Now that is the first sane thing I've heard from you today." Imelda said and I could feel the tension building up.

"Imelda, that's enough." I finally said as I had been mute for quite some time now and this was the right time for me to intervene.

If I left these women, they were ready to cuss themselves till nightfall and another dawn and worst of all, my ear drums would soon start bleeding.

"No, it's not enough. The only thing that can be enough is if everyone tells me what the fuck is going on lately!." Imelda growled and stomped out of the room leaving me and Alpha Lena behind for some staring competition.

We both glared and glowered at each other till Alpha Lena had her fill and stomped out of the room as well because I wasn't ready to say a word to this woman.

If I did, she'd be running out of my pack on her heels with her warriors who were also always in the shadows trailing her behind.

This woman was the definition of Mysterious. No one knew her army or what time of the year she would be available. She just showed up when the time was right and though it was intriguing at first, it now irritated me.

Now I had to go and look for Imelda and soothe her or rather, go back to my study to handle some Alpha duties. I haven't even checked some files for the past few days and that could be very destructive as there might be some important files to take care of.

With two options left in my head, I decided to go to my study first and later, go to check up on Imelda. She must be brooding by now and I hope my decision isn't a bad one.

I walked into my study room and was surprised to see that the files on the desk were scattered. This was quite a strange and annoying sight and it infuriated me.

It almost looked like my study room was searched……SEARCHED!!!!!!

I immediately went to the drawer and unlocked the last locker and then my heart settled when I found out that the 'B-File' hadn't been tampered with.

But who would this be? I mean, who would dare come Into my office and make a mess of it like this?

But why would someone even enter my office in the first place?

I don't know how many essential files I have here but damn it…. All the files here are really essential.

Most importantly, the 'B-file'. If it probably went missing then I'm done for.

I even have some documents I'm still working on.

The only people who have full access to my office are Imelda and Irene and for sure Imelda won't do this madness. Yes it's madness so it only meant one thing.
