“Then who else?”
Ivy could tell he was fishing for information again, so she decided to make things a
little more interesting
Suddenly, she leaned over and turned her phone toward him. “Here, take
look–this guy I met online. Funny enough, he’s a doctor too, just like you Brilliant in his field, but absolutely hopeless with investments. Every time he tries his hand at the stock market, he loses money. And he’s so stubborn–never takes any advice just insists he knows better. I’ve never met anyone so impossibly pigheaded He drives me crazy!”
Jamison’s expression was hard to describe
Honestly, who wouldn’t be annoyed hearing themselves trashed like this. face–to–face?
The worst part was, he couldn’t even let it show
“But now he’s finally seen the light and realized he’s not cut out for investing. So he came to me. Wants me to manage his portfolio once I start working at the form.
Jamison’s heart skipped a beat, but he kept his voice steady. “This online trend–a guy?”
“Yup.”
“Ivy, you do realize you’re a married woman, chatting with some guy late at ngji?” Jamison put on a jealous tone, just to see how she’d react.
“It’s business, not flirting.” Ivy shot back, blunt as ever. “You’ve got plenty of female patients. I don’t complain about that, do I?”
Jamison was momentarily lost for words, then pressed on. “If he annoys you 30 much, why bother helping him?”
“He’s helped me before. Before I met you, whenever I needed a doctor, he’d

recommend someone good. In his field, he’s actually pretty reliable.”
At that, Jamison felt at least slightly vindicated.
“And…” Ivy intentionally drew out the word.
“And what?” Jamison couldn’t help asking.
“And he used to have a crush on me. I turned him down, though. Eventually, he found himself a girlfriend,” Ivy confessed, watching him out of the corner of her eye to catch his reaction.
Jamison froze, their eyes meeting in a silent standoff.
He, of course, remembered those days, hiding behind his “Dr. Handsome” username, dropping hints and seeing how she’d respond.
Even after he started pursuing Ivy in real life, he’d still test the waters online from
time to time.
Looking back, he wasn’t even sure what he’d been thinking.
He just wanted to talk to her, to enjoy those fleeting moments of
connection–especially when, in person, every encounter between them felt like a battle of wills.
Only in the anonymity of the digital world could they lower their guards.
He’d gotten to see a completely different side of Ivy, as if he’d been let in on her most precious secret.
Maybe that’s when he started falling for her.
“Cat got your tongue?” Ivy finally spoke, noticing he’d gone quiet.
Snapping out of it, Jamison replied, “So why didn’t you ever choose him?”
“I asked if he wanted to meet up in person. He refused. So, that was that,” Ivy replied casually.
Jamison pressed his lips together, silent.
Of course he hadn’t wanted to meet–one look, and his whole cover would have been blown.
“And you stil
talk to him online. Is there something you’re not telling me?” Jamison tried to sound stern, studying her face.
“I’m married, Jamison. What do you think I could possibly want?” Ivy answered,
glancing at her phone. She tapped out a quick reply, but the other side stayed silent. She gave a little shrug. “Guess he’s logged off.”
“It’s late. He’s probably with his girlfriend by now,” Jamison said, playing along, though there was still a nervous edge to his voice as he looked at her.
