Chapter 179
Sienna's pov
Milo shot me an exasperated look. "You came all this way and didn't bring Willow? What were you thinking?"
His words implied it was my fault.
"So, why'd you call me here?" I asked, annoyed that he couldn't explain over the phone.
"I need you to deliver something for me," he said, like it was the most normal thing in the world.
"Me? Deliver something? Are you serious?" I repeated. "You've got a ton of people working for you. Why me?"
And why did he bring it up now?
Julian's wedding plans with her must have reached him by now.
"It's a confidential document. I destroyed the digital copy - only the paper version remains. You need to deliver it personally."
Milo didn't elaborate, just continued, "You need to deliver it to someone named Sabrina."
"And if I refuse?"
He clearly wasn't planning to explain.
But if he didn't clarify, I wasn't keen on taking on this task.
Milo's gaze sharpened, and his tone turned icy. "You've been training with me for six months now. Can't you do this one thing for me?"
I couldn't argue with that.
Even if I wasn't officially his subordinate, Milo had helped me a lot. It was only fair to repay him.
Besides, Theo didn't seem to object, which meant he was okay with it.
"What kind of document is it? Where am I taking it?"
I didn't ask for more details.
I still had my doubts. With so many people under Milo's command, why did it have to be me delivering this important document?
"You don't need to worry about the contents. Just take it to a small town up north. You'll know when you get there. Make sure to hand it to Sabrina personally."
Milo's expression were as tight as Harrison 's.
"Leave tonight."
So urgent?
Theo finally spoke up, dissatisfied. "It's already past noon. Leaving tonight is too rushed. We haven't even had a proper family gathering."
"Not necessary."
His tone was so cold that Theo, knowing his personality, didn't push further.
Milo then went to the records room to get the document.
"Theo, what's up with that small town up north? Is there someone important there?"
Milo wouldn't do anything pointless. There had to be something significant in that town.
I thought Theo would know.
But this time, he shook his head, looking puzzled.
"I never interfere with what he does, nor do I try to understand too much."
I asked instinctively, "Why?"
Milo was definitely the most mysterious among the four of them.
He was alive but never returned to the Moretti Villa.
What kind of trouble could make him endure being separated from his family for so long?
"If I probe too much, he'll cut off contact again. But Sienna , you're different. You've been in his organization. He treats you differently than he treats us."
I was confused.
How many secrets did the Moretti Family have?
A year had passed, and Milo was still an enigma.
That night, Milo didn't rush me to leave.
He didn't say it, but he had arranged for a car to take me from the training camp the next day.
That evening, the three of us had a pretty quiet dinner.
No one spoke. We didn't need small talk.
But then Milo suddenly said, "It's good to keep Willow here. That was the plan, anyway. I can teach her some things, so she doesn't end up useless like you."
There were times when I genuinely couldn't tell if he was being sincere or just joking around.
But the idea of keeping Willow at the training camp suddenly seemed appealing.
It was safer than having her around Julian and me.
But Theo immediately stopped me.
"No way. It's best to raise kids close to you. Don't worry about it."
Dinner wasn't exactly pleasant, but I felt at ease.
After all, every time I met Milo, we had to bicker a bit. It was our thing.
Before I left the next day, Milo reminded me, "You've trained with me for six months. If you get attacked, don't just stand there. Use what I taught you."
I remembered that night and felt a bit guilty.
Running away had become second nature.
I always saw myself as weak, a victim, thinking it would earn everyone's sympathy.
Sympathy... Was it useful?
I didn't know, and I didn't care.
I needed to start fighting back.
"Of course, I will. But if I can't handle it, make sure someone helps. If something happens to me, it's no big deal. But if the document gets stolen, you'll be in trouble."
I joked, seeing Milo's face darken.
"In your dreams. If you die, no one will save you!"
Despite his words, he was the one who arranged the car for me.
The driver was definitely not just anyone.
On the road, I asked the driver about the training camp and the small town.
"What kind of place is it? Is it under Mr. Moretti' control?"
Like this "Sabrina" person, could they be a relative?
"We don't know, but there's a rumor that Mr. Moretti has a secret lover there."
The driver chuckled. "But Mr. Moretti isn't married. Why not bring that person over? It's strange, but we don't dare ask. You know Mr. Moretti' temper. Even without an official title, people under him... it's said they'd rather be dead."
I knew Milo was complicated, but I didn't expect such rumors.
No... I had never tried to understand who Milo really was.
To me, he was my uncle, my family.
"A secret lover? Have you seen him with any women?"
I hadn't seen any young women around him all year.
"No, and the document you're delivering was always handled by Mr. Moretti himself. It shows how much he trusts you."
I didn't ask more.
The more you say, the more trouble you invite.
Milo kept some things even from his own people.
The training camp was in the mountains, and getting to the northern town wasn't quick.
I watched the scenery change from green hills to sandy plains, occasionally seeing lakes and grasslands.
Then... we got stuck in traffic on the highway.
There seemed to be an accident ahead, and it would take an hour to clear.
The driver suggested I get out for some fresh air, so I left the document on the seat and stepped out.
And then I saw...
