40- Time

40- Time
As the next song began, a slower, more romantic tune, I pulled her closer. Our bodies aligned perfectly, and I could feel the steady rhythm of her heartbeat against mine. The world around us faded as we lost ourselves in each other, the chaos of the party dissolving into a soft, blurred backdrop.

“I’m glad Esteban convinced you to come,” she whispered, her breath warm against my ear. “You’re a pleasant surprise.”

“Maybe I needed a little push,” I admitted, my heart racing at the intimacy of the moment. “Maybe I needed a reason to break free from my shell.”

Her gaze held mine, and I could see a flicker of understanding in her eyes. “Sometimes, all it takes is one person to remind you that the world is full of possibilities.”

I leaned in, unable to resist the urge to close the gap between us. “And sometimes that person can change everything.”

The music swelled around us, enveloping us in a cocoon of sound and light. I felt the weight of my earlier loneliness lift as I leaned in closer, our lips mere inches apart. The scent of snickerdoodles intensified, filling my senses with a sweetness that mirrored the connection blossoming between us.

“Shall we chase those possibilities together?” I asked, my heart pounding in anticipation.

“Absolutely,” she murmured, her smile radiant. “Let’s make tonight unforgettable.”

With that, I leaned in, feeling the warmth of her breath as our lips met in a soft, tentative kiss. It was electric—a spark igniting between us that promised adventure, connection, and the thrill of the unknown. In that moment, the loneliness that had clung to me like a shadow faded away, and I knew that I had found something worth pursuing.

As we pulled away, I could see the excitement mirrored in her eyes. “Now, let’s see where this night takes us,” I said, unable to suppress my grin.

The atmosphere shifted slightly, the thumping bass now a gentle undertone, allowing our voices to rise above the noise. I could feel the energy between us crackle with potential, a promise of shared secrets and laughter waiting to unfold.

“Do you dance like this often?” I asked, curiosity bubbling up as I leaned against the wall, pulling her closer. I wanted to know more about this enchanting woman who had turned my night around.

“Only when the mood strikes,” she replied, her smile softening. “It’s all about the right energy, you know? Sometimes, it’s about finding the right people to share those moments with.”

Her words resonated with me, and I could sense the depth behind them. Alina was not just a dancer; she was a seeker of joy, a collector of memories. “You definitely have a gift for bringing that out in others,” I complimented, my admiration genuine.

“Thank you, Alejandro. But let’s not talk about me. What about you? What do you want out of this night?” She leaned in slightly, her eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that made my heart race.

I took a deep breath, searching for the right words. “Honestly? I want to break free from my usual routine. I want to experience life more—like you do.” I paused, gauging her reaction. “And maybe find someone who inspires me along the way.”

She tilted her head, her expression thoughtful. “You know, it’s never too late to start. Every moment is a new chance to explore life’s possibilities.”

I admired her optimism; it was infectious. “How do you stay so positive?”

“Because life is unpredictable,” she said, her voice low and earnest. “And every twist and turn can lead to something beautiful if you let it. Like tonight.”

In that dim corner, surrounded by the echo of laughter and music, I felt a warmth spread through me. Alina was right; life was about embracing the unpredictability, about finding beauty in the chaos.

“Then let’s make the most of it,” I said, my gaze unwavering. “Let’s chase those possibilities.”

With a playful grin, she took a step back, her arms outstretched as if inviting the universe to join us. “Then let’s dance like nobody’s watching!”

I laughed, the sound blending with the music as I took her hands and pulled her back into the rhythm. We spun and twirled, letting our bodies move freely, reveling in the exhilaration of the moment. Alina’s laughter rang out, and I couldn’t help but join her, the joy rising like a wave around us.

As the night unfolded, we danced through genres—slow ballads that pulled us close and upbeat tracks that had us jumping and spinning. Each song felt like a chapter in our unfolding story, a testament to the connection we were building.

“Let’s take a break!” Alina suggested after a particularly energetic song, her cheeks flushed and eyes sparkling. We found a small table at the edge of the dance floor, and I watched as she poured herself a drink, the golden liquid catching the light...  I gave a few half-hearted yawns. Fell asleep again, all the time thinking that I should wait for the opportune moment to roll onto my side and compliment his performance from last night. I wanted to keep it steady. Take it slow. I hadn’t come with the intention to mate my socks off. But his oral had brought me to a few keys higher than my raspy voice could manage. And I had beaten those pillows with the side of my fist when he started to playfully stretch and showed me how beautiful his back was. I stared at him. It was corny for me to feel so attached, but that was it. He was beautiful. And I was hard and wanted to bone again. What stopped me was his low chest and breathing. He was so at peace.
