CHAPTER FOURTEEN—This isn’t funny!

Freya Rose I was crouched down on the concrete basement floor with my vision was still obscured. My face and arm were heavily bleeding, and I still couldn’t contact my wolf. I felt deflated and believed that this would be the end for me. I couldn't see any way out of the dire situation that I was in. Unless my vision, or wolf senses miraculously reappeared within the next few seconds, I knew that I wouldn't be able to protect myself from her next attack. I held my blood-covered hand in front of myself for protection, then used my other hand to feel behind me while I shuffled backwards. I didn't want her being able to sneak up behind me, so I decided to back myself up against the wall. Every time I inched back a little, I could hear her feet take a few steps forward. At least I know she's in front of me, I thought to myself. My hand finally hit the brick wall, so I pushed myself up against it and gradually rose to my feet. Feeling slightly less like a trapped animal, I clenched my fists and held them out in front of me.

“Really?” She mocked with a chuckle, “You really think you can fight me like that?” She spat, then paused for a response, but I wasn't about to indulge her with a petty slagging match. “You can't see anything! You can't use your wolf senses, or shift and you're bleeding all over the damn place. You really think that you stand a chance against me?” She asked sarcastically then paused again waiting for me to reply, but again I stayed silent.

What I was really doing was trying to think of a plan, something, anything to get me out of this mess. Although, my brain wasn't working as fast as I'd hoped. I didn't know if it was not having Mina around, the screaming from Mason and Evan, the booming slam of the steel security door, or the wolfs bane running through my system, but I just couldn't focus on anything or even think straight.

“When your aunt Hannah asked me to kill you, I didn't think in a million years that it would have been this easy. If I'd known you were this weak, I would have offed you when I caught you fucking my boyfriend!” She hissed at me.

I sighed when I realized exactly who it was. I thought I'd recognised the scent. I finally decided to answer her, “You don't have to do this, Ellie. I'm sorry that we hurt you, but please don't do anything until we've had a chance to talk,” I begged her.

I couldn't believe that I was groveling to this bitch, but at that moment in time, I couldn't see any other option, literally. I stood in silence waiting for Ellie to reply, but she didn't. I could still hear the guys yelling and the slamming of the door as they tried to keep the other hunters out, but I couldn't hear Ellie.

“This is for sleeping with Evan!” She screamed from the right-hand side of me.

I quickly raised my arm into the air to try and block her attack, but she'd gone low instead and I screamed out when her blade sliced along my stomach leaving a trail of lava-like burning in its wake. Her evil chuckle rang through my ears and my fear began to morph into furiousness. I've had enough of this bitch, but what can I do to stop her? I asked myself. I blinked a few times hoping that it would at least give me a tiny bit of my site back, but it didn't. I needed to think of something and quickly. Luckily the wolfs bane wasn't affecting my hunter's abilities so at least I could ascend.

“And this is for turning, Finnley!” She screamed again, this time from my left-hand side.

I went low with my arm, but the bitch went high and slashed the top of my shoulder.

“Ahhh! Fuck it!” I screamed out in pain. The skin splitting open wasn't the issue, it was the wolfs bane that immediately seeped into the wound, that was unbearable.

“Freya!? What's going on down there?” Mason screamed out to me from the top of the stairs.

“She's trying to kill me!” I yelled back, instantly regretting having answered him.

I knew that the guys already had their hands full and that they couldn't possibly help me. Now they would be up there feeling guilty for not being able to save me and not fully focused on keeping all of those hunters out.

“Who is?” Evan yelled down to me.

I didn't want to reply back, but clearly, Ellie was more than happy to reveal herself.

“I am!” She shouted up to him and a shocked reply boomed back down from Evan, “Ellie? What the fuck? Why would you want to kill her?”

I could pretty much guess what she was going to say, but I stayed silent not wanting to piss her off any more than she already was.

“Why? Do you hear this mutt? He wants to know why,” she hissed at me, then started yelling away from me, I guessed she was aiming it at Evan.

“Why do you fucking think, Evan? Huh? Damien is dead because of this little skank. She turned my best friend's Fennid into a rabid wolf, who then disfigured my face. Then not fully content with ruining my looks and my self-esteem, she screwed my boyfriend!” She screamed at the top of her lungs until her breath ran out. She inhaled and calmly finished off her rant, “so, pick one, Evan. Any single one of those explanations is enough for me to kill this stupid bitch.”

Before anyone had a chance to reply she began screeching into the air, I screeched in response and burst into flames instantly. At least the flames might hold her off, I thought, but time was well and truly up, I needed to do something and fast.

“Selene!” I screeched into the darkness.

Once my screeching had ceased, I was greeted with agonizing silence. I collapsed onto the cold hard ground in defeat. Knowing that my call had not been answered, I thought, it was worth a shot. I didn't blame her for not responding. She'd looked after me for the whole two months while I was recovering, then I tried to get the hunters to kill me and completely blocked her out of my mind. I rested my head into my hands and listened to Ellie's screeching getting closer and closer like a steam train coming right at me, ready to wipe me out of existence for good. I didn’t blame her either. If I was her, I’d want to kill me too.

***

Mason Hart I couldn't believe Ellie was trying to kill Freya and there was fuck all I could do to stop her. I knew that if I let go of the door, all those hunters on the other side would rip Freya apart, limb from limb. There was no way that Evan and I could hold off that many of them.

“Evan, talk to Ellie, try to calm her down,” I shouted at him.

He was right beside me, but with all the noise from the hunters screeching outside, the squeaking and banging of the door, we couldn't hear a damn thing. He nodded at me then opened his mouth to speak, but before any words managed to come out, we heard Ellie's screech into ascension, swiftly followed by a screeching Freya. Oh, dear God, I hope that she can fight her off, I don't know what I'll do without her. My focus shifted when I heard Freya scream out for somebody called Selene.

“Is she calling the moon Goddess?” Evan yelled at me, and he yanked the heavy steel door shut for the hundredth time.

“Yeah, I think she is,” I yelled back to him while pulling the locking lever up yet again.

“Isn't she just a myth?” Evan shouted while holding the door firm.

“Yeah, as far as I know. Passages about her are written down in some of the hunter's history books, but no one has ever…” I had continued to shout not realizing that the screeching from the other side of the door had completely ceased. “Seen her,” I finished my sentence at my normal volume while borrowing my brow at Evan.

His look mirrored mine and we wondered where in the hell the hunters had gone. All that could be heard now was Ellie's screeching.

“Ellie!” Evan shouted.

“Freya!” I yelled in unison.

We both then bolted down the stairs only to freeze in shock as we took in the grotesque scene that was now unfolding before our eyes in the basement.

***

Freya Rose I held my arm in front of my face and prepared for Ellie's imminent attack. I focused on her screeching as she hurried toward me. I screamed and startled suddenly when I felt the outside of someone's hand gently stroke my cheek.

“Who's there?” I screamed out but no one replied. Moments later Ellie's screeching abruptly ceased, only to be replaced with a muffled scream instead. I'd heard the guys shout out for Ellie and me and then run down the stairs, but not a peep out of them since. “Mason…? Evan…?” I shouted out to them, but they didn't answer me. Now in a complete panic, I screamed out again, “Guys, please, this isn't funny! What's going on…? Where's Ellie…? Where are all the hunters…?” Still no reply. If it wasn't for the sound of feet shuffling furiously against the concrete, I would have been convinced that I was down here alone. It was that damn quiet. I tried one last time and screamed out as loud as I could, “Mason?” I immediately felt a gust of ice-cold air dance around me. Embedded within the air that surrounded me, was the scent of fresh raw meat and burnt Iron, but also the familiar scent of the ocean. “Selene?” I questioned.

Within seconds my eyes began to heat up, the warmth swiftly turned into a burning sensation but nowhere near as painful as the wolfs bane that was still coursing through my veins. Once the heat covered my entire body my veins began to run cold. It was a soothing yet very strange sensation, but as the cold blood travelled around my body, it was like inside it there were these tiny little firemen putting out the wolfs bane flames. Flames that had spread throughout my body like a bushfire on a scorching summers day. Eventually, my blood returned to its normal temperature and as it did, my eyes began to clear. My wolf senses returned along with an extremely excited Mina. She was howling a greeting inside my head and jumping around like a baby gazelle. Now with my eyes being able to focus again, I watched in amazement as a magical ice-blue orb the size of my hand hovered gracefully beside me. Then for the first time in ages, I heard Selene speak to me inside my head.

“I'm sorry I have to leave so suddenly my dear, but it seems as if Samael may be in some bother and requires my assistance. I will speak to you soon my dear, Freya.”

And with that, the ice-blue orb flew at great speed towards the brick wall. It hit the wall and vanished, leaving behind a plume of smoke. I glanced down at the floor and a pile of fresh clothes were laid out in front of me, I quickly got dressed then sat back down on the ground trying to calm myself. While I sat there watching the smoke gradually disperse, I felt two strong and loving arms wrap around me and lift me up into the air.

“Freya? Are you okay?” Mason asked with concern as he held me bridal style and began to carry me towards the stairs.

“I'm fine Mason, honestly,” I replied softly.

I would usually joke about being able to walk, but I knew that he was worried sick, so I kept my jokes to myself and let him do what he needed to. He was cautious as we approached the stairs, I could hear a man crying and I assumed it was Evan. I tried to peek over Mason's shoulder to see if Evan was okay, but as I lifted my head, Mason gently pushed it back down with his hand, making me rest it on his chest.

“You really don't want to see that, Freya,” he said in a hushed tone.

I furrowed my brow and whispered, “See what? Is it Ellie…? Is she…?”

Before I had a chance to ask if Ellie was dead Mason replied, “Shhh, I'll explain once we've gotten you somewhere safe, okay?”

He didn't wait for my reply. He just ran up the stairs and quickly opened the steel security door. Then without even bothering to see if it was safe, he sprinted towards the front door and straight out of the cabin, before spreading his wings and flying us up into the air.

***

Evan Hart After running down the stairs to stop Ellie and save Freya, Mason and I both froze on the spot when we saw a tiny ice-blue orb hovering next to Freya. All of a sudden it began to grow at an extraordinary rate. Finally, it was the size of a person and surrounded by an ice-blue-colored smoke. We watched as a hand emerged from the plume and gently brushed against Freya's cheek. Mason lunged forwards but I managed to throw my arm to the side smashing it into his chest stopping him from going anywhere. The smoke began to shift and morph into a human form. Standing before us was a stunningly beautiful woman, with pale white skin and brilliant bright white hair. She had sky-blue colored eyes with tiny gray flecks in them, that sparkled as the ice-blue glow shone around her.

She looked so sweet and innocent, but that view of her was short lived as we watched her rush towards Ellie. Within the blink of an eye, she was behind Ellie. Before either of us could react, she'd placed one hand around Ellie's mouth and the other on her shoulder, then yanked her head to the side, exposing her neck. I gasped, because without hesitation she threw her own head forwards and sank her face into Ellie's neck. Watching helplessly from behind I couldn't see what she was doing exactly, but I had seen more than enough bloodsuckers in my time to know that this woman was a vampire. I wanted to save Ellie, I really did, but my body wouldn't move, no matter how much I willed it to, it just wouldn't budge. I couldn't bring myself to harm this woman, or thing, whatever she was. I had this overwhelming feeling that killing her would break my heart. It was like someone had taken over my body and mind. There was a tiny voice in my head that was my own, it was screaming at me to help my girlfriend. Then there was a louder and even stronger voice telling me to just let it happen, telling me that this is the will of Selene and that she must be obeyed.

She was magnificent and the most beautiful being that I'd ever laid my eyes upon. I'd never felt love like this before, it was so sudden, pure, and all-consuming. I had no clue as to what was happening to me. All that I could think it was, was the seduction abilities that vampires had. Although they shouldn't be able to work on us hunters. Whatever it was, I'd guessed that Mason was going through it too. I glanced at him out of the corner of my eye, he was frozen solid just like me, but his face was contorted as if he was in agony. I could tell that he was having the same fight inside his head that I was. Still frozen in place and not being able to look away, tears began to well up in my eyes as I watched the woman that I loved kicking her feet against the concrete and grabbing at this thing’s arms trying to fight it off. Slowly but surely, she calmed in her frantic attempts to free herself. Eventually, her body went limp, and the beautiful monster ripped its head away from her neck, spraying tiny droplets of her crimson blood into the air.

Tears streamed down my face while I silently wept for my girl. Without any remorse at all, the beautiful monster threw Ellie's body onto the ground like a ragdoll, then turned to face us. Before I knew it, she was upon me. She grabbed my head viciously, then smashed her blood-soaked lips onto mine. I cried out inside, urging my body to rip the demon apart, but that stupid voice in my head was enjoying itself. I pleaded with my body not to let her disgusting tongue into my mouth, but it ignored my pleas and opened wide welcoming her tongue inside. The kiss was the best and the worst that I'd ever had. One side of me wanted to bite her tongue off and spit it at her face, but the other side of me enjoyed every twist and turn of her vile tongue, and every caress of her plump ruby red lips. One of her hands slid down my chest, and even through my clothes her touch was electrifying. It sent huge waves of energy and excitement throughout my entire body.

Her hand finally reached my waistband then plunged into my boxers, grabbing a hold of my member in her icy-cold grip. Inside I cringed, but also cried out in ecstasy as my body instantly reacted to her icy touch, and my member grew faster than it had ever done before. Still kissing me violently, she began to move her hand up and down my member and after only a few strokes of her magical demon hand, I climaxed covering her hand in wave after wave of my juices. She removed her tongue from my mouth then released her grip on my penis. I dropped to my knees instantly and then gazed up at her. I watched in pure disgust while she licked all of my semen off of her hand like it was whipped cream. She peered down at me, as I knelt before her like she was my Queen and winked at me. In unison, my heart leapt with joy at the same time as my stomach turned with revulsion. I looked up at Mason, who was still frozen in place, but his eyes were closed, and I was grateful to him for fighting the delusional other half of himself that surely wanted to watch. I knew he must have fought so hard to be able to close his eyes, so that I didn't have to deal with the embarrassment, of knowing that he'd just witnessed that horror show.

“It was a pleasure meeting you, Evan. I look forward to seeing you again my king,” she whispered in a velvety smooth voice.

The beautiful monster then strutted away and knelt down in front of Freya. She held her hands a few inches away from either side of Freya's head and an ice-blue glow came out of her hands and into Freya's temples. After around thirty seconds she stood back up and began to morph again into the little blue orb. The orb then hovered beside Freya for a few seconds then flew into the wall leaving behind an ice-blue smoke. Once the smoke had begun to disperse, the control she had over Mason and I went with it. Mason took off running towards Freya and I crawled over to Ellie. I picked up her gray and lifeless body off the floor and cradled her like a baby. I rested my head on hers as I wept into her cherry-scented blonde hair. My heart broke knowing that I would never again get to tell her how much I truly loved her.
