Chapter 18 Chapter 18: Estelle, Is That You?
“Mr. Harris, could you do me a favor?” Estelle asked.
James nodded and said seriously, “Sure. What can I do for you?”
“Take Yohan back to Ameris,” Estelle said.
James was confused and frowned.
“Why? Don’t you want to spend more time with him?” he asked.
Estelle thought for a while, then shook her head and said, “I’m dying. I don’t want him to see me die. We’d better not see each other frequently so that he will have less memory about me and won’t be too sad if I die.”
Hearing this, James couldn’t help sighing and then asked, “Estelle, can you bear to be separated from Yohan?”
Estelle smiled bitterly and didn’t say anything.
Even if I don’t want to part with Yohan, so what? I will die soon.
Yohan is so pitiful that he hasn’t enjoyed his father’s love since he was born and will lose his mother forever.
Cristofer doesn’t believe that Yohan is his son at all while Gretchen is vicious and scheming. It will be dangerous if Yohan lives with them.
In this case, I can only ask James to take care of him.
There is not much time for me and this is all that I can do for Yohan.
“Mr. Harris, please take Yohan back to Ameris as soon as possible.”
It was a cloudy day when James and Yohan left Hadale.
In the ward, Estelle looked out of the window, lost in thought. She had thought that maybe she could see the plane that they were on. However, she couldn’t see anything in the sky but the clouds.
Although I am not a good mother and can’t take care of my son every day, at least I can protect him from being hurt.
At this time, the nurse knocked on the door and came in. “Miss Hudson, it’s time to change the dressing.”
Estelle nodded and lay back on the bed obediently.
The nurse carefully unwrapped the bandage and then gently applied some medicine to the incision. Then she said, “Miss Hudson, the incision is healing nicely. It can be seen that you are recovering quickly.”
“Miss, it hurts...” Estelle said.
“Sorry, I’ll be gentler,” The nurse apologized.
“I mean, could you give me some painkillers?” Estelle requested.
After thinking for a while, the nurse nodded and said, “Then I’ll ask the doctor to prescribe some painkillers for you. But you can’t take too much of them because they have side effects.”
“I see. Thank you. I won’t eat them if it doesn’t hurt badly.”
The nurse then went to the doctor’s office. Soon, she came back and gave Estelle a bottle of painkillers.
Estelle took over the bottle and roughly counted the pills.
There were about twenty pills, which was enough to eat for a long time.
The nurse said, “You can take one first. When the pill takes effect, I’ll continue to change the dressing for you.”
Estelle smiled and put away the bottle. “It’s Okay. You can change the dressing now. The pain is bearable for me now.”
The nurse nodded, “Okay. I’ll finish it quickly so that you won’t feel much pain.”
Suddenly, Estelle’s phone rang.
She answered the phone and said, “Hi, this is Estelle.”
“Miss Hudson, come back quickly. Mrs. Hudson is in bad condition.”
She was shocked and asked, “What’s wrong with my mother?”
“Miss Hudson, please come back now.”
Estelle immediately took out the bottle of painkillers from the cabinet and put it into her handbag.
Then she quickly changed her clothes, put on light makeup in front of the mirror, and left the hospital.
The Hudson’s House, which was located in the Bonlake District of Hadale City, was a three-story villa and had been built for many years.
When Estelle arrived, she found that the house was completely different from before.
When she was young, she liked stars, so her father, who spoiled her very much, specially bought an iron gate with star patterns.
But at this moment, the iron gate was replaced by one with golden rose patterns and looked vulgar. The gate was so bright that it was very offensive to the eye.
Seeing the patterns, Estelle immediately knew it was her uncle who had changed the gate. Her uncle was always so tasteless and counterfeit.
After she rang the doorbell, the servant came to open the door and welcomed her in.
“Miss Hudson, you’re finally back!” The servant said excitedly.
Estelle hadn’t been home for a long time.
After the car accident six years ago, her uncle York took over the Hudson Group and the Hans Group and moved here with his wife and daughter. For Estelle, her home had been ruined.
On the other hand, to save Yohan, she had to live with Cristofer, hoping that she could give birth to a second child so that Yohan could have a stem cell transplant.
When she stepped into the house again, she had mixed feelings.
“Miss Hudson, please come with me. Mrs. Hudson misses you very much,” The servant said as she led the way for Estelle.
However, the servant then took Estelle to the guest room rather than the main bedroom where Estelle’s parents used to live.
The servant lowered her voice and said in a low voice, “Your aunt thought the guest room was too small, so she asked Mrs. Hudson to move to the guest room. Now she and your uncle live in the main bedroom. Besides, her daughter with her ex-husband is now living in your room.”
Estelle was displeased when hearing that. “How could they do such a thing? Don’t they know that this is the Hudson’s House?”
The servant said helplessly, “Since Mr. Hudson passed away, the house has changed a lot. Mrs. Hudson is weak and cowardly. When she was bullied, she would only endure it without protest. And she doesn’t want you to worry about her, so she didn’t tell you what was happening here. However, the more she gave in, the more arrogant your uncle’s family was. Now your uncle is in charge of the family, and he pays our salary, so no one dares to offend him. But now Mrs. Hudson is seriously ill. I can’t bear to see her in this situation, so I called you.”
Before Estelle entered the guest room, she heard her mother sobbing in a low voice.
“Mrs. Hudson is inside,” The servant informed her, feeling a bit pity.
Estelle nodded and then pushed the door open.
It was daytime, but the whole room was dark and smelled of mildew.
“Mom, I’m back,” Estelle said.
Mrs. Hudson, who was lying on the bed, asked, “Estelle? Is that you?”
The moment Estelle heard the weak voice and saw her mother, Aurora, she shed tears of sadness.
