Cristofer frowned and said nothing.
Rebecca then said to Cristofer, “Get out of here now. Don’t disturb Estelle anymore.”
Cristofer didn’t move, fixing his eyes on Estelle.
Rebecca ran out of patience and pushed him away as she said, “Didn’t you hear me? Get out!”
However, although she had pushed him with all her strength, Cristofer still stood there motionlessly.
Rebecca was so angry that she looked up at him with her hands on her hips. “Hey! Mr. Hans, when did you become a rogue? Estelle has divorced you! Do you know what divorce means? She has nothing to do with you now! Don’t pester her anymore!”
“Legally speaking, we haven’t got divorced,” Cristofer said calmly.
Hearing this, Estelle turned around and looked at him in shock.
Rebecca was also stunned. “You didn’t get divorced yet? How could it be?”
“The Civil Code has an article requiring a one-month cooling-off period before a couple get divorced legally,” Cristofer explained to them. “So, Estelle, we are still a couple now.”
Estelle opened her mouth but didn’t know what to say. The news was so unexpected that her mind went blank.
“Estelle, have a good rest. I won’t let York and Melody bother you again. Don’t worry,” Cristofer said.
Then, the nurse who heard the noise in the ward came.
Seeing Cristofer, she said helplessly, “Sir, please go out. This is the ward, and the patient needs peace.”
Cristofer nodded and said, “Estelle, I’m leaving now. I’m here just to tell you that I won’t give up on you.”
After saying that, he turned around and left.
Estelle felt weak all over and slumped at the edge of the bed.
Rebecca hurriedly walked over and held Estelle in her arms. Then she said angrily, “What the hell is the cooling-off period? I’m speechless. Why is it so troublesome to get divorced nowadays? It seems that I made the right decision not to get married.”

When I went to the Court to help you go through the divorce procedures, I was told that couples would have a one-month cooling-off period after handing their divorce application to the Court. It is a new rule that was implemented a few days ago. That is to say, you will not get a divorce until a month later.”
The news came as a bolt from the blue, and Estelle showed a wry smile.
‘Why does God always favour Cristofer? When he didn’t want to get divorced, the government happened to issue a new rule. It’s so ridiculous.’
‘I can’t live long. And in my last days, I still have to be Cristofer's wife for one month.’
‘Why is God so unfair to me?’
“Estelle, I can only stay here for ten days and will have to return to Ameris soon. I can’t overstay my visa. You may have to go through the divorce procedures in person next time,” James said with guilt.
Estelle’s heart sank. Trying to suppress her anger and depression, she nodded and said, “Okay. Thank you for your help, Mr. Harris. And... I’m really sorry that I made you come here in vain.”
“It’s me who should say sorry. I’m sorry that I couldn’t help you,” James said. “Estelle, Yohan wants to see you. He talks about you every day. Don’t you want to see him?”
Estelle fell into silence.
“Estelle, come and meet him if you want. I know you didn’t come to see Yohan for some reason. But Yohan has barely seen you since he was born. Don’t you think it’s too cruel for him? Even if you... you may be gone soon, you shouldn’t refuse to see him. He asks why you don’t want to see him and if you don’t love him anymore every day. His pitiful look was really heartbreaking.”

When Estelle was lost in thought, her phone beeped.
‘Are you okay?’ Mr. Mysterious texted her.
‘I’m okay.’
‘I know that Cristofer went to see you.’

‘Estelle, do you still love him?’
‘No.’ Estelle replied quickly.

‘Sir, may I know when you will tell me your true identity?’ Estelle didn’t answer his question but replied to him with a question.
‘I’m sorry, Estelle. Before letting you know who I am, I still have something to deal with.’
‘How long will I have to wait?’
‘I’m not sure, but I’ll handle everything as soon as possible.’
Estelle couldn’t help but smile bitterly and think, ‘Why do I always have to wait?’
‘I have to wait for a month before getting a divorce legally. I must wait for Mr. Mysterious before it is the right time to know his identity. And I don’t know if waiting is still meaningful.’
With a depressed expression, Stels texted Mr. Mysterious.
‘Sir, I don’t want to wait hopelessly for the rest of my life.’
The next moment, her phone rang. It was Justin calling.
“Estelle, have you had lunch?” Justin asked with a weary voice on the other end of the line.
“Not yet.”
“Come downstairs. Let’s go to have lunch together.”

“I’ve been here for a while,” Justin said gently.
