Chapter 24 :- Agonizing Anticipation.

"His condition is stable. He should wake up anytime." I heard someone murmuring close to me. I tried unfurling my eyes and moving my head but it felt so heavy like a lead rod is placed over it.

"Yes. Look at the wave pattern on the monitor. His brain is alert. Maybe he can hear us." Another voice piped up to my ears. I was being monitored.

Where am I?

Will they harm me?

I felt the tightness around my head increasing.

"Shit his pressure is increasing. We need to sedate him for a while." The same voice again hit my ears. No!! I want to wake up. Don't sedate me. I tried moving but every effort was going in vain.

"But it can hamper his brain activity." What? Are they trying to harm me? No!! Please don't do this.

"Dr. Mittal his pressure is continuously fluctuating. It may damage his brain anyway. Let's give him a light dose."

Doctor? Am I in the hospital? Why? Before I could analyse more I felt darkness consuming me.

No!!

"How's he?" Rohit asked as the doctors came out of the ICU. Dr. Mittal exchanged looks with his colleagues and sighed. It was enough to put his family in traction. It's been three days they've been longing to meet him.

"Mr. Malik as I said he is out of danger and we expected least complications but his intracranial pressure, his blood pressure are too high and fluctuating, which is creating a problem for us. His brain cells are working over actively and we can't do anything but sedate him to put his brain to rest. We'll re-examine his condition after eight hours and we hope for his better response. Excuse us."

The doctor's words left them disappointed like everytime in these three days. Armaan is surely testing their patience.

"Till when is he going to sleep?" Khwaab mumbled dejectedly as she was tired, tired from cheering up his parents and hoping for good.

What made her on tenterhooks was the consequences of the surgery. Everything is a mere postulation until he doesn't wake up. What if he couldn't see her? Or the worst, what if he couldn't recognize her? She tried leaving everything on her Jesus, on her fate, but was it that easy?

Her cell vibrated and she excused herself. "Hello." Khwaab answered the call from an unknown number.

"Ms. Talwar your job as an Assistant Professor in our university is confirmed. You need to join from next week. The details has been mailed to you." The caller said monotonously.

"Okay thank you." Disconnecting the call she sighed heavily. She had to resign from her job back in India given the situation in hand but she cannot sit without working all these months here. Teaching physics seemed the best option as it wouldn't take much hours of her day, nor she has to go daily and this way she can be with Armaan too.

Armaan! Well that guy is hell bent to keep everyone on edge since three days. Initially they all were anxious to send him in the OT and about the results but now knowing that he is fine, this wait of meeting him doesn't seem to end. Her family in India along with his friends are desperate to hear her experience of talking to him after the surgery. They can't meet him but atleast know the latest updates.

Even the media is hungry for updates. The news of Armaan leaving for NY hit his fans and the crowd gathered around his mansion along with various media houses. Shaurya and Rebecca’s wedding was a silent affair but now ‘Stardust’ was making headlines in every newspaper and news channel, with different speculations regarding the reason for Armaan's sudden disappearance and the reticence, the other members of the band has maintained.

In all this, the cherry on the cake was, Armaan and Khwaab were clicked together at the airport and now she is the 'mystery girl' in Armaan's life they eagerly want to question. Thankfully her face wasn't revealed and she and her family still have a little freedom which others are deprived of.

In the midst of all this a thought striked home in the back of her mind about the lack of privacy these stars and people related to them have to deal with. It somewhere scared her as she had always been a private person, away from the crowd and Armaan, well he likes it or not he becomes the centre of attraction everytime, leading to the swarm of people that surround him. Will she ever be able to come in terms with this reality of his life?
