Chapter 65 Secrets Revealed

Chapter 65 Secrets Revealed

The day had settled into a quiet hum, the sunlight filtering through the tall windows of Silverfang in lazy, golden beams. A soft breeze carried the scent of the gardens inside, and the house felt warmer, safer, like a cocoon around us.

Aiden and I were sitting in the sitting room, the letter from the human realm set aside for now. The tension from the morning’s visitor still lingered faintly in the air, but it was softened by the comforting closeness between us. He had been quieter than usual, his golden hair falling across his forehead as he fiddled with the hem of his tunic, shoulders tense in ways that made me ache with tenderness.

“I… haven’t told you everything,” he said quietly, almost to himself.

I glanced at him, curiosity stirring. “You mean about Silverfang? Or… something else?”

He hesitated, golden eyes flicking to mine and then away, like a wolf caught in the sunlight. His jaw tightened just slightly, and I could feel the subtle tension in his hands.

“Something else,” he admitted. His voice was low, shy, almost reverent. “Things I’ve kept… buried. Not because I don’t trust you, Elara… but because I… didn’t know how to say them.”

I reached out, touching his hand lightly. “You can tell me anything,” I whispered. “Even if it’s hard. Even if it’s… scary.”

Aiden’s golden eyes widened, and for a moment, he looked like a boy instead of the fierce Alpha Prince he often had to be. A blush crept across his cheeks, warming them like the sunlight around us.

“I… I’ve carried responsibility for so long,” he began, voice quiet, hesitant. “Silverfang… my family… the pack… everything was my duty before I even understood what it meant. I thought I had to be strong. I thought I had to hide what I felt. To hide… myself.”

My chest tightened. I reached out again, threading my fingers through his, anchoring him. “You don’t have to hide from me,” I said softly. “Not ever.”

He swallowed, gold eyes flicking down at our intertwined hands, and then back to mine. “I’m… not used to letting someone in like this,” he admitted, voice breaking just slightly. “But… with you… I can. I want to.”

My heart ached at the vulnerability in his voice. I lifted a hand to brush a loose strand of golden hair from his face. “Then I’m here,” I whispered. “Always. You can let me in, all of you.”

He exhaled, a shiver running through him as if the words themselves were freeing him. “There’s… something else,” he continued, hesitating. “Before I met you… before the bond… I was afraid. Afraid that I could never love anyone. Afraid that I would always be alone in this… role. And yet… then you came.”

I felt warmth pool in my chest. “Aiden…”

He looked at me, golden eyes shimmering with a mix of shyness and something deeper — longing, trust, awe. “You… changed everything. You made it possible for me to… feel. And not just duty or obligation… but… love. Real love.”

I couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped me, soft and full of relief. “You’ve always felt it,” I said gently. “You just… needed someone to show you it was okay.”

Aiden blinked, a small, shy smile tugging at his lips. “And… that someone is you?”

“Yes,” I said simply. “Always you.”

He exhaled, a soft sound of relief mixed with joy, and leaned slightly closer, though his shyness kept him from fully closing the gap. “I— I’ve never been… this open with anyone,” he admitted. “Not my pack. Not my family. Not anyone. And now… I don’t want to hide it.”

I lifted my hand to his cheek, brushing it softly, feeling the warmth of his skin beneath my fingertips. “You don’t have to,” I whispered. “I’m here. You can be… everything. Shy, strong, golden-haired… vulnerable… all of it.”

He closed his eyes for a heartbeat, resting his forehead against mine, letting the words sink in. “Everything… with you… feels safe,” he murmured. “Even the parts of me I thought would scare people away.”

“You could never scare me away,” I said, smiling. “I’ve seen the wolf. I’ve seen the boy. And I love them both. You don’t have to choose.”

He opened his eyes, golden and shining, and for a moment, the world outside seemed to vanish. All that existed was us, the quiet room, and the soft light painting the air around us in gold.

“I—” he began, voice low, faltering slightly as he tried to express everything bottled up inside. “I want to… promise you something. That… I’ll try. I’ll try to be… open. To let you in. To share my life with you… fully.”

I smiled, pressing my lips to his in a gentle kiss. It was soft, tender, full of warmth and trust. My fingers threaded through his golden hair, pulling him just slightly closer, letting him feel that he didn’t have to carry everything alone.

When we pulled back, his cheeks were flushed, and his eyes were still shimmering with unshed emotion. “You… you make it easy to love you,” he whispered shyly.

“And you make it easy to trust you,” I said softly.

We sat together in silence, letting the moment stretch, filled with the kind of quiet intimacy that didn’t need words. Aiden rested his head lightly against my shoulder, golden hair brushing my cheek, and I held him, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath my hand.

The letter from the human realm lay untouched on the table, a reminder that responsibility still waited. But in this moment, it didn’t matter. The secrets he had shared, the vulnerability he had shown… it had brought us closer, woven our hearts together in a way that nothing else could.

And I knew, deep in my chest, that no matter what came next—whether danger, duty, or uncertainty—we would face it together.

Because love, when it was soft and shy and tender like this, could anchor even the most powerful wolf prince to the girl who had captured his heart.

And for the first time, I could see the full, golden glow of him—not just the wolf, not just the prince, but the boy who had found trust, love, and home in me.
