Chapter 53 “Dawn Of Peace”
The first light of dawn spilled over Silverfang, bathing the valley in gold and silver. The air was crisp, carrying the scent of rain-washed forests and earth. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, the world seemed still, whole, and unbroken.
I stood at the edge of the castle balcony, feeling the warmth of sunlight on my skin and the hum of the land beneath my feet. My magic, once so chaotic and unstable, now flowed in quiet threads, steady and calm. The entity that had threatened us for so long… it was gone. Truly gone. Its shadows had been scattered, its power neutralized, and the veil between our realm and its darkness restored.
Aiden joined me silently, golden light barely shimmering around him now, a soft, comforting glow rather than a protective blaze. He wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me close. “It’s over,” he whispered. “For real this time. Silverfang is safe. And you… you’re safe.”
I leaned into him, resting my head on his chest. The steady beat of his heart felt like the anchor I’d been searching for through every storm. “I can’t believe it,” I murmured. “After everything… it’s finally over.”
“For now,” he corrected gently, brushing a strand of hair from my face. “But now we get to live, Elera. Not just survive. Live.”
Liam approached, shoulders relaxed for the first time in weeks. “The borders are secure,” he said, glancing over the valley. “All scouts report calm. No lingering shadows, no corrupted terrain. Whatever we faced… it’s done.”
I smiled faintly, letting the tension drain from my shoulders. “I can’t believe it. After everything, it’s finally quiet.”
Aiden leaned down, kissing my forehead softly. “And we get to enjoy it. Together.”
We walked through the castle grounds, the soldiers greeting us with smiles and nods, their exhaustion mingled with relief. The once-tense council members had relaxed, though the memory of the crisis lingered in their eyes. But for the first time, they looked at me with more than fear or caution. Respect. Recognition. Acceptance.
The Queen approached, her expression a mix of pride and relief. “Elera,” she said softly, “you’ve done more than protect Silverfang. You’ve restored hope. The realm owes you its peace.”
I bowed slightly. “I couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help. Aiden, Liam… and every soldier who stood with us.”
The Queen smiled, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder. “Then let this be a new beginning. Silverfang is yours to protect, yes—but now, you can also be free to live your life, Elera. To love, to learn, to grow… without the constant shadow of danger looming over you.”
A warmth spread through me at her words. For the first time, I felt it—not just the relief of survival, but the quiet promise of life ahead.
Aiden intertwined his fingers with mine, golden energy blending with the silver threads that ran lightly across my skin. “Life,” he said softly, “isn’t just about battles. It’s about moments like this. And I want all of them with you.”
I smiled, the exhaustion finally yielding to joy. “Then we have a lot of living to do.”
We walked together through the restored gardens, the first blooms of spring painting the castle with color. Soldiers and townspeople waved, laughter filling the air—a sound I hadn’t realized I’d missed so desperately. The weight of the crisis lifted, replaced with something light, warm, and infinitely promising.
At the heart of the castle, we paused by the Moon Chamber. Silver light still glimmered faintly in the runes, now dormant and peaceful. I pressed a hand to the wall, feeling the steady hum of magic running beneath the stones. The keystone’s purpose remained—to protect, to anchor—but now, it no longer burned in chaos. It flowed in balance, strong and calm.
Aiden turned to me, eyes soft and golden in the morning light. “You’re incredible,” he murmured. “Not just in power… in heart. In everything. And I love you, more than ever.”
I laughed softly, the sound light and free. “And I love you. Always. Through every storm, every shadow, every challenge… you’ve been my anchor. My home.”
He pulled me close, kissing me with a tenderness that spoke of relief, hope, and promises kept. “Then let’s make the most of this peace,” he whispered. “No more shadows. No more crises. Just us.”
I nodded, resting against him fully, letting the morning sun warm our skin, our hearts, our lives. For the first time in what felt like a lifetime, Silverfang was quiet. Safe. And we were free.
Together.
And that was enough.
Having him close to me was all I needed,I couldn't help but think if this peace was permanent or temporary,I pray it last, and our love continue to grow,I just wish he can express it more to me.
