Chapter 42 Never Bailing On Drama
Chapter 42 Never Bailing On Drama
Gigi chuckled as she stared at the lit screen.
Her eyes shifted to the mirror where her impeccable self stared back at her.
She dabbed a few more powder on her face, her hands hovering over the red lipstick.
With a smile, she rubbed it on her lips, smacking them together.
Drama? She’d never been one to bail on drama.
Smoothing her already smoothened dress, she clutched her purse under her arms and walked out of the door.
Outside, the chaffeur stood by the car, holding out the door for her.
Gigi gave him a curt nod, slipping in.
‘’This hospital.’’ She muttered, passing him her phone.
The driver took it, nodding.
With his legs on the gas pedal, they sped off to the hospital.
The car came to a halt just outside of the hospital building.
‘’Wait here.’’ Gigi uttered, stepping out.
She stared up at the building, her face scrunching in irritation.
Only animals or mentally deranged people would go somewhere like this to get treated!
She pressed down the bile stick in her throat and pulled out a handkerchief from her purse.
She wrapped it around her nose, annoyedly walking into the hospital.
She stared around, looking for any nurse she could talk to.
But of course, they were understaffed.
Angrily, she stomped her heels on the ground, the sound reverberating in the quiet halls of the hospital.
‘’No noise!’’ A bored voice bloomed, making Gigi turn around in anger.
‘’Excuse me?!’’ She asked, staring at a burly woman in a nurse uniform.
Her clothes were stained with—with—Gigi couldn’t make out.
She eyed her, suppressing the urge to throw up.
‘’Where can I find this woman?’’ She asked, flashing her phone screen in the woman’s face.
The woman stepped back, slightly irritated.
‘’Not part of my job description.’’ She murmured, walking away.
Gigi eyed her some more, cursing under her breath.
She didn’t look like she knew what her job description was anyways.
Huffing, she headed for the rundown elevator, silently hoping not to get stuck in it.
The door creaked open, the sound a far cry from okay.
The lights blinked off and on, the walls rusty.
Gigi hesitated.
She stepped back, deciding to take the stairs instead.
She walked towards it, tiredly climbing each one with anger filled eyes.
If not for the recorder Anna had against her, she would have turned around and headed back home immediately she sighted such a building.
It wasn’t befitting enough to be called a hospital.
She heaved slightly, clutching the railings.
A victorious smile curled up her lips as she saw some nurses sitting in a rest area.
She quickly headed for them, holding unto her knees with a ragged breath.
‘’Hello! Please where can I find this woman?’’ She asked, flashing her phone screen in their faces.
Gigi had never had to say please in her life.
And it pricked at her heart that she had to go through all this because of the wench her son brought into his home.
‘’Oh this bitch!’’ One of the nurses said, snickering as she jabbed the other one on the shoulder.
The other one squinted her eyes, staring at the phone intensely.
When she could finally make out the outline of the person on screen, she chuckled, clicking her tongue.
‘’That bitch has had us in a chokehold for days. Always threatening to take her daughter elsewhere. She can’t even afford the medical bills!’’ She laughed, clutching at her stomach.
Gigi frowned.
‘’Where can I find her?’’ She gritted her teeth, already running out of patience.
‘’fifth floor. Room 4.’’ They answered, going back to what they had been doing.
Gigi’s face fell.
Fifth floor?!
She was only at the first floor and she was starting to feel blood draining out of her heart.
She took off her heels, scratching her hair in annoyance.
She headed for the stairs, clutching the railing as she struggled to the fifth floor one painstaking step after the other.
By the time her legs hit the fifth floor, she’d already been looking like a raccoon.
Her hair was disheveled from all the scratching.
Her legs were wobbly and consumed by dust.
Lastly, her red lipstick where smudged over her lips, the handkerchief lost somewhere down the third floor.
Gigi walked into Room 4, her chest heaving breathlessly.
The first thing she met was the noisy chatters of people.
Wincing, Crying, Laughing—All kinds of emotions in one room.
Despite how small the room was, the hospital management was still able to fit seven beds in it.
And each bed was occupied by very angry patients.
Her eyes sighted Anna’s step-mother sitting just around the corner with a tired expression on her face.
Her eyes were half open, half closed. With the opened part glued to Marissa.
Gigi took out her mirror, cleaning off any remnant of lipstick on her face.
She also dusted off her legs and slipped it into the heels, her shoulders rising as she walked towards Elizabeth.
‘’Elizabeth joe?’’ She asked, staring down at her.
Elizabeth eyes snapped open, her face scrunched up as she stared up at Gigi.
‘’What do you want?’’ She asked, her tone laced with annoyance.
Gigi chuckled.
‘’I’m Gigi DiCaprio.’’ She muttered, waiting for her words to sink in.
Or perhaps for Elizabeth’s eyes to go wide as she realized that an elite like her had graced her with her presence.
Instead, she was offered…Blank.
Elizabeth face was blank as she stared at her, confused. ‘’I said we would pay the bills! My son-in-law would be here soon. You don’t have to keep bringing different people just to coerce me. Not like you can send my daughter out of the hospital anyways.’’ She replied, glaring daggers at Gigi.
Gigi’s face fell.
‘’DiCaprio! As in Alex DiCaprio! Anna’s mother-in-law!’’ She literally shouted, making the other people in the room jump.
Elizabeth’s eyes went wide as she rushed to her feet.
‘’What do you want?!’’ She asked, her hands crossed over her chest.
‘’Did Anna send you?!’’ She questioned, her face scrunching up in annoyance.
‘’The guts of that girl to try and threaten me!’’ She snickered, eyeing Gigi whose face was now clouding with excitement.
‘’Don’t worry. I’m here on my own volition. And of course we know your son-in-law isn’t coming to pay the bills.’’ She said, making Elizabeth’s hand fall to the side.
‘’He’s barely even making ends meet. Without investment, his business would crumble in about…..A week?’’ She continued, smirking.
‘’W—What do you want?’’ Elizabeth stuttered, lowering her voice.
‘’To help you.’’ Gigi muttered, stepping closer to her.
Elizabeth stepped back, confusion evident in her face.
‘’Help me?’’
‘’Yes!.’’ Gigi whispered, her breath fanning against Elizabeth’s ear.
‘’Give me what you have on Anna.’’
