Chapter 37 Delete The Recording
Chapter 37 Delete The Recording
Christian’s eyes widened for a moment.
‘’That’s fine.’’ He murmured, making Sarah heave a sigh of relief.
For some reason, she seemed to care about what he thought of her.
‘’Get dressed. I’ll drive you back home.’’
Sarah nodded, her eyes briefly raking over him.
For the first time in her life, she didn’t want to leave.
As if sensing her thoughts, Christian scratched the back of his neck, his voice low.
‘’Would you like to come on a business trip with me tomorrow ?’’ He asked, his eyes watching her expectantly.
Sarah fought the urge to scream YES.
She couldn’t have him knowing that she had no job. She’d been fired the same day her boss reprimanded her for failing to get the scandalous photo of Alex and Anna in bed.
Running her fingers through her hair, she acted like she was pondering his offer.
‘’I don’t know…what kind of retreat?’’ She asked, her doe eyes piercing into his.
Christian chuckled inwardly.
‘’It’s work-related. But I’ll make sure you’re not lonely.’’ He teased.
Sarah’s cheeks burned.
‘’Fine! Let’s go pack up my things!’’ She muttered, her voice full of excitement.

Anna bit at her nails nevervously as she stared at Alex from time to time.
‘’Is there something on my face?’’ Alex finally asked, fed up with her weird glances.
‘’Is—is it possible for my salary to come earlier?’’ She asked, batting her lashes at him expectantly.
Alex didn’t respond.
He stayed quiet for a while, pondering what she had just said.
‘’Do you need money?’’ He breathed out, his gaze boring into hers.
‘’I—I’m not. I just—‘’
Their car came to a screeching stop at the mansion’s pavement, their body lurching forward due to the abrupt pressing of the brake.
A low cry escaped Ann’s lips as her head almost collided with the dashboard, the seatbelt yanking her back in place.
‘’What was that?!’’ She screamed.
Alex ignored her.
He got off the car, slamming the door behind him.
Anna quickly highlighted the car, her face scrunched up as she struggled to keep up with his pace.
‘’As I was saying…’’
Anna’s next words were disrupted when the sound of Gigi’s voice chimed in. ‘’If it isn’t my favorite couple.’’ She said, her words dripping with pretense.
Even a fly could detect that.
‘’I made some food for you both.’’ She said, ushering them to the dining table.
Alex stared at her skeptically.
‘’Mom I told you not to go in the kitchen.’’ He muttered, picking up his fork regardless.
After the issue with the celery, he had strictly forbidden his mother from stepping into the kitchen again.
It had taken him a lot of difficulties to supres the urge of sacking his long time chefs due to their carelessness.
The day his grandfather and mother were supposed to come, he had ordered the maids to take away anything they were both allergic to.
They had told him that they indeed took out the celery. But Alex wasn’t sure…
‘’So about the money..’’ Anna continued, ignoring Gigi that was now steps away from them, wating as they eat expectantly.
Like she was waiting for some kind of complement.
‘’Is there something important you need the money for?’’ Alex asked, licking his lips as he savored the rich taste of corn and steak.
He waved a thumbs up in Gigi’s direction, making her beam with happiness.
She turned around and plopped herself on the couch, waiting till they were done eating.
Anna fiddled with her dress, her head twirling as she thought of a reasonable answer.
She didn’t think it was right telling him she needed money for her father’s business.
A business that now belonged to her ex.
She didn’t think it was right.
‘’Send the amount of money you need and I would write you a check.’’ He said, making Anna’s eyes go wide.
She watched him pull away from his seat and get up, heading towards the staircase.
She watched as his figure faded away as he climbed up the stairs and into the room.
She happily took her phone and texted him the amount she needed.
A notification popped in her phone and she mistakenly pressed it, her hand shaking as she stared at the message.
‘Guess who just hit send? Me! In 24hrs, the video would automatically be sent to Alex if my demands are not met.’
Anna could already tell the tone of her step-mother’s voice just from reading the message.
A shiver ran down her spine as she swallowed, her hands shaky.
She couldn’t let her step mother get away with t—this torment!
No matter what she did, she would always come back for more.
Her eyes darted to Alex’s mother who was still lounging on the couch, her eyes rooted to the TV.
Anna’s face lit up as a thought popped up her head.
She walked over to Gigi with a happy expression. ‘’Mother-in-law..’’ she called out sweetly, making Gigi stomp her feet inwardly.
With the amount of kindness that dripped off Anna’s tone, she was sure the little girl had cooked up something that would put her at the receiving end.
‘’What?’’ She answered, a fake smile plastered across her cheeks as she moved her eyes in Anna’s direction.
‘’I would delete the recording of you.’’
Gigi’s eyes lit up instantly. ‘’Really?!’’ She asked, beaming.
‘’Yes. But on one condition.’’
Gigi’s smile faltered. ‘’What condition?’’ She asked regardless.
‘’You take care of my mother.’’
Gigi gasped, her hands rushing towards her lips as she stared at Anna in shock.
‘’L—Like kill her?!’’ She asked, making Anna mentally facepalm.
‘’Of course not. Just teach her a lesson.’’ Anna answered, making the Gigi’s shocked expression morph into a smile.
She had been dying to get her hands on Anna all week. Since she couldn’t do that, she could just pour all her frustrations on Anna’s mother.
Then after that, she would take the recorder from Anna and put her back in her place.
She giggled at Anna’s stupidity. ‘’Deal!’’
Anna shook hands with her, heading for her shared bedroom with Alex.
She slipped into the bed, making sure the demarcation between them was filled up with a pillow.
Confirming, she turned her back to him, closing her eyes.
‘’Oh I forget to tell you.’’ Alex breathed out, making Anna jump.
Her eyes fluttered opened.
She had thought he was asleep.
‘’We would be going on a business trip.’’ He murmured, yawning.
‘’We?’’ Anna asked, turning towards him.
The room was dark so she could barely make out his facial expression.
Alex nodded.
‘’Yes. We need you for the pitch. It’s going to be really competitive so I want to be able to count on you to execute the pitch excellently.’’
Anna paused. ‘’How competitive are we talking?’’
‘’A billion dollars.’’
Her jaws dropped.
