Chapter 36 Her Heart Fluttered

Chapter 36 Her Heart Fluttered
Anna blinked.

It was him! He was indeed back to torment her.

Alex stared at her, noticing how her body shook uncontrollably as she stared at the promoter.

Before he could ask anything, she bolted up and ran out of the room.

‘’Is she alright?’’ Bernie asked, a sly smirk gracing his lips as he turned back to stare at her receding figure.

Alex eyes snapped from Anna to the man.

‘’She’ll be fine. Please have a seat Mr Hart.’’ He said, signaling for his assistat to come clear his table.

And she immediately did it, making way for some important files which she placed back on the table.

‘’So…we would be needing your expertise regarding some major promo we would be running……’’

______

Anna got to the ladies room after a whole lot of difficulty. Her head was pounding painfully as she tried to steady herself, eyes blurry.

‘’Are you okay?!’’ An employee asked, worried.

Anna didn’t hear a thing.

All she heard was the ringing in her head as the trauma from the past replayed in head.

‘’Hey!’’ Someone snapped a finger in front of her face, making her come back to her senses.

She stared at Sienna whose face had a frown.

‘’Snap out of it! I don’t know what you and your mother spoke out but you’re acting weird.’’ She said, making Anna’s brain undergo a little revolting.

Her hand gripped the washing basin as she stared at her reflection, appalled by how crazy she looked.

This was exactly what her step-mother wanted.
For her to lose her shit and end up losing more than just herself.

‘’Get yourself cleaned up.’’ Sienna whispered, handing her a bag.

Anna took it off her, eyeing the bag skeptically.

Opening it, she saw a few makeup products in it.
Her heart fluttered.

Who would have thought she’d be one day catered to by Sienna?!

‘’Thank you.’’ She whispered, pulling out a few makeup products.

Sienna nodded.

Her eyes were fixed on the door as she waited for Anna to be done.

Anna pulled herself together and applied some powder on her face.

Some Eyeliner, lip gloss, mascara…and she was back to being her usual self.

She handed the bag of cosmetics back to Sienna and they both exited the room for the branding department.

Dragging her chair tiredly, Anna plopped on it, her eyes fixed on the elevator.

The man hadn’t acted like he knew anything about her.

Hell..he didn’t even stare at her.

But Anna knew it was him. And her hunches had never been wrong.

Her phone buzzed and she picked it up, seeing a message from her step-mother on it.

‘Don’t fuck with me. Tell Alex you need some money. Also talk to him regarding investing in Jeffery’s company. Or I would send this video to him right away.’

Anna tossed the phone back in her purse, annoyance clouding her feutures.

How was she supposed to ask Alex to invest in a business that had already crumbled?

Immediately jeffery applied for a change of name, most of he’s investors pulled away for reasons best known to them.

Her phone buzzed again and she resisted the urge to even pick up her phone.

But when it buzzed again, she searched for it and swiped, seeing another message from her step mother.

‘You have 48 hours to get the money’

Anna almost choked on her spit.

48 hours?! She had to be kidding!

She quickly picked up the phone and typed a response quickly.

‘’That’s impossible!’’ She exclaimed, her eyes not catching the footstep of someone approaching her desk.

‘’What is impossible?’’ The person asked, making Anna flinch.

She raised her head up form her phone, her eyes raking blue from head to toe.

‘’O—Oh it’s nothing.’’ She stuttered, turning off her phone. She didn’t know when she had blurted out her shock aloud.

‘’Alright! I just wanted to let you know that I’ll be leaving today.’’

Anna paused, sadness emanating from her.

She just remembered that he had some other place to be a CEO at.

She hadn’t even seen him much. She wasn’t privy to meeting him at the gala after what happened.

‘’See you again sister-in-law.’’ He whispered, smiling from ear to ear.

Anna smiled too. ‘’Nice to meet you Mr blue.’’

She watched him turn around, waving. Before he eventually got lost in the crowd.

Anna sighed.

_____/_____

The sun streamed in through the window, almost taking Sarah’s eyes with it.

She blinked, covering her eyes with the back of her palm, watching the light suddenly dim slowly, making her take it off.

She got up, shocked by the foreign apartment she was.

‘’No. You didn’t get kidnapped or anything..’’
Christian’s voice bloomed, making Sarah whip her head in his direction.

‘’I wasn’t thinking that.’’ She retorted, her voice coming in slow as she figured she’d been found out.

‘’Where am i?’’ She asked, brushing the first question aside.

‘’My room.’’ He answered, making the heat in Sarah’s face creep up her cheeks as bits and pieces of what happened last night started to flood her head.

‘’I—‘’

She paused, staring down at her body.

‘’Did you?!—‘’ She stuttered, staring down at her fully clothed self. Then back to him.

‘’Yes. After lots of difficulties..’’ He said, making her face redden.

‘’How could you…’’ she breathed out, holding both side of her cheeks as they eventually started to get warm.

‘’ We already did it. What’s there to be shy about?’’ Christian asked nonchalantly.

Sarah watched him leave the room.

After a while, he came back with a tray filled with food.

Sarah moaned.

The smell wafted up her nostrils making her mouth water.

Christian laughed. ‘’It’s just toasted bread and eggs.’’ He said, stretching it into her arms.

Sarah took it, murmuring a low ‘thanks’ before biting into the bread.

‘’Really nice!’’ She murmured, staring at Christian who had already takes a seat beside her, watching as she ate.

‘’Won’t you..?’’ She asked, stretching an already bitten bread in his direction.

Christian laughed.

‘’No thanks!’’

‘’So tell me when you learnt how to cook. Because you look like an expert.’’ Sarah murmured, her mouth filled up at she munched on the food.

Only glancing at him occasionally as she waited for a response.

‘’I’m not an expert. But I’ve been cooking since I was little.’’ He answered, smiling as he recalled how he used to climb a small stool and stir his mother’s big pot of soup.

‘’How about you?’’ Christian asked, making Sarah put down her food.

She stared at him nervously, her hand scratching at the back of her neck.

‘’I—I can’t cook.’’
