Chapter 135 ALWAYS AND FOREVER

Chapter 135 ALWAYS AND FOREVER

MICAH'S POV

The memory of his big hands pop in my mind, including the way that just with a snap of his fingers, he can make all the problems go away.

I’m the one who looks away first. “I need you to respect the boundary.”

“I am respecting it,” he answers easily with a small shrug.
“I’m not asking to come back to your bed, no matter how much I'm restraining myself from jumping you, Micah. I’m simply telling you I won’t let him hurt you or threaten you. Those are two different things.”

Are they though?

They don’t feel any different at all when he’s standing so close to me, and my body is tense, and acting up like we're still together or something.

I turn around, grab my bag and move past him towards the door.
To my quiet relief, he doesn't stop me from leaving this time.

He doesn't reach out or say anything, and the fact that he doesn't do anything, somehow makes the frustration in me grow even worse.

In the hallway outside, I quietly lean against the wall for a second and try to steady my head and breathing.

Max is circling around me like a hungry wild, Alison's still somewhere out there even though she's quiet, Savannah may or may not be as naive as she presents herself to be.

But my mind isn't going on about all those terrible scenarios right now.

The only thing I can think about, the only terrible conclusion my mind has gotten today, that would certainly haunt me for the rest of my life, is the one I've just confirmed after not speaking or being with him for days.

I can say this with certainty and gloom, but I think… I've somehow found myself in… love with Dante King.
The same one I just broke up with.

Be fucking still, my beating heart.

SAVANNAH'S POV

He won’t even look at me anymore since that day.

I watch Micah cross the street with his hood up and head down, taking the long route along the science building, just so he doesn't pass the bench where I usually wait and greet him with a smile.

Where I am now.
He used to greet me with a small smile, and let me walk him towards the classes we have together.
Now, he changes direction the second he spots even the color of the cheer squad jacket.
As if I'm some type of plague or a problem.
I'm not the one that hurt him, so why's he avoiding me?!

I grip my fist and dig my nails in tightly, until the pain snaps me out of my teary state.

Everything was going according to plan!

The cameras were already out in place, and even though the ones in Micah’s room weren't working, the one in their sitting and lounge area was working perfectly.

I deserved to know even more about Micah’s life, no matter the stupid details like him being involved with Dante King.

So when I heard Dante announce a study session happening late at night in the sports study hall, I already knew what he was trying to do.

He was trying to hog Micah all to himself.

So I texted the cheer squad group chat about how we've not had a party in weeks now, with the sports teams now studying hard for midterms.

Then during practice, I let it slip when having a conversation with that big mouth, Maddie, how Micah and the rest of the Basketball team are studying late in the study hall tonight.

I already knew what she would do with the information.
That bitch is messy, and hung up about Dante when I'm pretty sure she was only with him for his money.

How hypocritical.

All she needed was a small push, a nudge in the right direction, and she saw exactly what I wanted her to see.

I knew the coward couldn't bear to expose or even confront them, so when she came to the dorms crying, I almost wanted to smile.

So the rumors started immediately after that, and I wanted to strangle that bitch.

But when I saw how nervous and agitated Micah was, I let it be.
Even playing the hero saves the damsel moment by lying that it was me that kissed him.

I was betting on one sure thing here, Dante King’s controlling nature.

I let Alison lose her mind, and start spewing off threats and rumors that are sure to push Micah off to the edge.

Dante’s controlling streak won't let Micah break apart because of this, he'll only want to handle it quicker and faster.

He'll start taking and making decisions for Micah that would instantly be detrimental especially for someone like Micah who hates decisions being made for him.

And fucking hell, it actually worked!

So I continued. I took it a step even further, by suggesting the cabin space and making him feel safe.

I took his phone from him to “charge” it even though I just let it die out on its own.

I let him cry himself out, and comforted him, just as a couple of freelancers from the photography team were much too happy to take some innocent photos for me.

I purposely posted them using my dummy account for two reasons.
The first one was to cement the lie that I was the one who kissed Micah.

And the second most important one, is the fact that I wanted Dante to see it.

I wanted that quiet and hidden rage he has, over how possessive he is to Micah to shine through and burst so much, that Micah would flinch from even being close to him.

That, plus everything else he's been feeling and going through in the relationship would be enough to set his mind up about how dangerous the relationship they have is.

And he did. Micah Brooks ended things with Dante just like I wanted.

I should be happy. And I was for, about twelve hours. After that, Micah’s been avoiding me.

Dante is finally out of the way, Micah is vulnerable and I'm here with open arms.

But he's avoiding me!

After everything I've done for him! After all the lies and the way I'm covering up for him?!
How dare he?!

We are supposed to be the endgame damnit! We would make the perfect couple!

He doesn’t get to cut me out now, especially after everything I've waited for.
I wanted for him for months, paying off the school board to know which school he's transferring to, and even coming here with him.

I've waited a year for him, so he just doesn't get to cut me off now.

He needed me really well that night, I just have to remind him once again how much he needs me forever.

He was mine first.
