Chapter 56 Reading in visions
Hazel looked at her confused.
“But…”
She was about to speak when she saw her mom nod.
“Yes, i didn't birth you by my power alone. When I got pregnant, the witch said you were a child of prophecy but you were too weak.
I prayed to the moon for days and five days before you were born, I was visited by Lunaria. The mother of the underworld and she gave me a gold pill, one that looked like the shape of the moon and asked me to swallow it.
She said if I did, I could save you. But I knew there was another piece, the pill was broken.
She isn't your mother, she only saved you and believe me Hazel… you don't want to be her pawn”.
She said but Hazel was still very confused.
“Pawn? What is she talking about? Is this some sort of game”?
Dove asked, obviously also confused but Hazel remained silent, not giving Dove any sort of response.
“Go to my father's house, they will help you in the battle ahead".
She said but Hazel suddenly asked.
“Do you know what the golden orb is”?
She asked and her mom looked at her with her brow raised.
“What are you talking about”?
She asked and Hazel sighed, feeling she didn't know about it.
“You are the golden orb”.
Hazel raised her head and looked at her in confusion.
“Huh”?
She exclaimed.
“I… I don't think I understand what you're saying”.
She said, genuinely very lost. She noticed her mom look at her chest but she suddenly couldn't hear anything she was saying.
“I can't hear you”.
Hazel said but no matter what she said, she still couldn't hear the words coming out of her mom's mouth.
“I can't hear you”!!
She yelled even more and suddenly, she noticed a space began to build between her and her mom. She could see her mother's mouth moving, she was obviously speaking, but Hazel couldn't hear a single thing and the space only kept getting wider and wider until a bright light flashed Hazel's eyes, causing her to close it. When she opened her eyes, she was back in Lucian's room.
The book was still in her hand but it had closed back.
She immediately opened it but was met with blank pages. She kept flipping through and when she got to a certain page, she saw a key in-between the pages.
She picked it up and raised it a little to look at it but immediately hid it behind her when she heard the door open up.
Dona who had just walked in looked at her with a brow raised.
“What are you doing”?
She asked as she moved closer and looked at the book on her hand.
“What is that”?
Hazel used her distraction as an opportunity and hid the key in her back pocket.
“My mom's diary”.
She said and pulled Dona to the bed.
“Dona, I thought you said my mom wasn't my real mom. You said the source is my mother”.
She asked but Dona looked at her confused.
“Well, I guess so. If not for her, you will not exist”.
She explained but Hazel couldn't help but think about what her mom had said.
“Does that make her my mom though? I mean she might have not created me after all”.
Dona wasn't sure why Hazel was asking all of this.
“That's how I saw it in my vision. A pea gotten from a pond and broken into two”.
She said and Hazel nodded.
“That's why she said the pill looked broken”.
She thought but she heard Dona ask her “what”?
“It's nothing, are you okay”?
She asked and Dona scoffed.
“I should be asking you that. What happened yesterday”?
Hazel sighed as she looked towards the box.
“Whatever it is, I need to get more clues before Rave does.
I know she has spent years preparing, but I need to get ahead of her no matter what".
She looked determined, ready, and focused. She looked like she was ready to go all out and fight her.
She looked like she was tired of being left in the dark.
“Where do we begin"?
Dona asked as she kept looking at Hazel seriously and Hazel turned to look back at her.
“I don't know either, but I have to start somewhere”.
She said and Dona kept looking at her seriously.
Hazel then looked at Dona so seriously, it made Dona move her head back a bit, suspicious of how Hazel was looking at her.
“Dona…”
Hazel called but Dona instinctively shook her head.
“I think my mom knew quite more than I do. Can you read her properties”?
She asked and Dona looked at the box before looking back at Hazel with her eyes opened wide.
“All of it"?
She asked and Hazel nodded.
“Please, I know we will find something. Hopefully, something very important”.
She said but Dona shook her head.
“I can't… I can't do that, it'll drain me”.
She said and Hazel sighed, giving a very pitiful face.
“I thought my powerful witch friend was going to help me, but here she is, leaving me on my own”.
Dona eyed her as though she wasn't falling for her manipulation.
“You've got to be kidding”.
She said and Hazel looked at her.
“You're a horrible actress. The most terrible actress I've ever come across”.
She added and Hazel smiled, knowing she had agreed.
“I don't know if some of these have dark magic on them so I might not be able to finish it any time soon”.
Hazel nodded, knowing it was a lot.
Dona gave her a glare, causing Hazel to smile again. Before she sat in front of the box and folded her legs in a triangular shape.
Closing her eyes, she placed her hands together as though she was praying for a while until she opened her eyes and her eyes was pure white as her hair also glowed white.
She looked at the box and picked up the first paper.
She turned to Hazel and spoke.
“My dearest daughter”.
